Representation theory of mirabolic quantum $\mathfrak{sl}_n$

We show that the mirabolic quantum group $MU(n)$ is a comodule algebra over the quantized enveloping algebra $U_v(\mathfrak{sl}_n)$, and use this structure to give a complete classification of its finite dimensional representations. In particular, we explicitly describe the construction of all irreducible finite dimensional representations of $MU(n)$ and show that the category of finite dimensional representations is semisimple. A crucial step involves constructing and analyzing Verma-type universal representations of $MU(n)$.

Higher rank Bell--Rogalski algebras

We generalize a construction of Bell and Rogalski to realize new examples of $\mathbb{Z}^n$-graded simple rings. This construction also generalizes TGWAs of type $(A_1)^n$. In addition to considering basic properties of these algebras, we provide a classification of weight modules in the setting of torsion-free orbits, study their (twisted) tensor products, and provide a simplicity criterion.

Exotic Spaltenstein varieties

We define a new family of algebraic varieties, called exotic Spaltenstein varieties. These generalise the notion of Spaltenstein varieties (which are the partial flag analogues to classical Springer fibres) to the case of exotic Springer fibres. We show that, for self-adjoint nilpotent endomorphisms of order two, the top-dimensional irreducible components are in bijection with semi-standard Young bitableaux, via constructing an explicit map. Moreover, we are able to give a combinatorial formula for this top dimension. We conjecture that this description of the irreducible components holds for nilpotent endomorphisms of arbitrary order. Finally, we mention some connections to the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence.

Twists of twisted generalized Weyl algebras

We study graded twisted tensor products and graded twists of twisted generalized Weyl algebras (TGWAs). We show that the class of TGWAs is closed under these operations assuming mild hypotheses. We generalize a result on cocycle equivalence amongst multiparameter quantized Weyl algebras to the setting of TGWAs. As another application we prove that certain TGWAs of type $A_2$ are noetherian.

Grothendieck rings of towers of generalized Weyl algebras in the finite orbit case

Previously we showed that the tensor product of a weight module over a generalized Weyl algebra (GWA) with a weight module over another GWA is a weight module over a third GWA. In this paper we compute tensor products of simple and indecomposable weight modules over generalized Weyl algebras supported on a finite orbit. This allows us to give a complete presentation by generators and relations of the Grothendieck ring of the categories of weight modules over a tower of generalized Weyl algebras in this setting. We also obtain partial results about the split Grothendieck ring. We described the case of infinite orbits in previous work.

Weight modules over Bell--Rogalski algebras

We study a class of $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebras introduced by Bell and Rogalski. Their construction generalizes in large part that of rank one generalized Weyl algebras (GWAs). We establish certain ring-theoretic properties of these algebras and study their connection to GWAs. We classify the simple weight modules in the infinite orbit case and provide a partial classification in the case of orbits of finite order.

Fixed rings of twisted generalized Weyl algebras

Twisted generalized Weyl algebras (TGWAs) are a large family of algebras that includes several algebras of interest for ring theory and representation theory, such as Weyl algebras, primitive quotients of $U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$, and multiparameter quantized Weyl algebras. In this work, we study invariants of TGWAs under diagonal automorphisms. Under certain conditions, we are able to show that the fixed ring of a TGWA by such an automorphism is again a TGWA. In particular, this is true for $\Bbbk$-finitistic TGWAs of type $(A_1)^n$ and $A_2$. We apply this theorem to study properties of the fixed ring, such as the noetherian property and simplicity. We also look at the behavior of simple weight modules for TGWAs when restricted to the action of the fixed ring. As an auxiliary result, in order to study invariants of tensor products of TGWAs, we prove that the class of regular, $μ$-consistent TGWAs is closed under tensor products.

Quantum affine wreath algebras

To each symmetric algebra we associate a family of algebras that we call quantum affine wreath algebras. These can be viewed both as symmetric algebra deformations of affine Hecke algebras of type $A$ and as quantum deformations of affine wreath algebras. We study the structure theory of these new algebras and their natural cyclotomic quotients.

Grothendieck rings of towers of twisted generalized Weyl algebras

Twisted generalized Weyl algebras (TGWAs) $A(R,σ,t)$ are defined over a base ring $R$ by parameters $σ$ and $t$, where $σ$ is an $n$-tuple of automorphisms, and $t$ is an $n$-tuple of elements in the center of $R$. We show that, for fixed $R$ and $σ$, there is a natural algebra map $A(R,σ,tt')\to A(R,σ,t)\otimes_R A(R,σ,t')$. This gives a tensor product operation on modules, inducing a ring structure on the direct sum (over all $t$) of the Grothendieck groups of the categories of weight modules for $A(R,σ,t)$. We give presentations of these Grothendieck rings for $n=1,2$, when $R=\mathbb{C}[z]$. As a consequence, for $n=1$, any indecomposable module for a TGWA can be written as a tensor product of indecomposable modules over the usual Weyl algebra. In particular, any finite-dimensional simple module over $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ is a tensor product of two Weyl algebra modules.

Classification of twisted generalized Weyl algebras over polynomial rings

Let $R$ be a polynomial ring in $m$ variables over a field of characteristic zero. We classify all rank $n$ twisted generalized Weyl algebras over $R$, up to $\mathbb{Z}^n$-graded isomorphisms, in terms of higher spin 6-vertex configurations. Examples of such algebras include infinite-dimensional primitive quotients of $U(\mathfrak{g})$ where $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{gl}_n$, $\mathfrak{sl}_n$, or $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}$, algebras related to $U(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2)$ and a finite W-algebra associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_4$. To accomplish this classification we first show that the problem is equivalent to classifying solutions to the binary and ternary consistency equations. Secondly, we show that the latter problem can be reduced to the case $n=2$, which can be solved using methods from previous work by the authors. As a consequence we obtain the surprising fact that (in the setting of the present paper) the ternary consistency relation follows from the binary consistency relation.

Irreducible components of exotic Springer fibres

Kato introduced the exotic nilpotent cone to be a substitute for the ordinary nilpotent cone of type C with cleaner properties. Here we describe the irreducible components of exotic Springer fibres (the fibres of the resolution of the exotic nilpotent cone), and prove that they are naturally in bijection with standard bitableaux. As a result, we deduce the existence of an exotic Robinson-Schensted bijection, which is a variant of the type C Robinson-Schensted bijection between pairs of same-shape standard bitableaux and elements of the Weyl group; this bijection is described explicitly in the sequel to this paper. Note that this is in contrast with ordinary type C Springer fibres, where the parametrisation of irreducible components, and the resulting geometric Robinson-Schensted bijection, are more complicated. As an application, we explicitly describe the structure in the special cases where the irreducible components of the exotic Springer fibre have dimension 2, and show that in those cases one obtains Hirzebruch surfaces.

A graphical calculus for the Jack inner product on symmetric functions

Starting from a graded Frobenius superalgebra $B$, we consider a graphical calculus of $B$-decorated string diagrams. From this calculus we produce algebras consisting of closed planar diagrams and of closed annular diagrams. The action of annular diagrams on planar diagrams can be used to make clockwise (or counterclockwise) annular diagrams into an inner product space. Our main theorem identifies this space with the space of symmetric functions equipped with the Jack inner product at Jack parameter $\operatorname{dim} B_\mathrm{even} - \operatorname{dim} B_\mathrm{odd}$. In this way, we obtain a graphical realization of that inner product space.

Irreducible Components of Exotic Springer fibres II: The Exotic Robinson-Schensted Algorithm

Kato's exotic nilpotent cone was introduced as a substitute for the ordinary nilpotent cone of type C with cleaner properties. The geometric Robinson-Schensted correspondence is obtained by parametrizing the irreducible components of the Steinberg variety (the conormal variety for the action of a semisimple group on two copies of its flag variety); in type A the bijection coincides with the classical Robinson-Schensted algorithm for the symmetric group. Here we give a combinatorial description of the bijection obtained by using the exotic nilpotent cone instead of ordinary type C nilpotent cone in the geometric Robinson-Schensted correspondence; we refer this as the "exotic Robinson-Schensted bijection". This is interesting from a combinatorial perspective, and not a naive extension of the type A Robinson-Schensted bijection.

A general approach to Heisenberg categorification via wreath product algebras

We associate a monoidal category $\mathcal{H}_B$, defined in terms of planar diagrams, to any graded Frobenius superalgebra $B$. This category acts naturally on modules over the wreath product algebras associated to $B$. To $B$ we also associate a (quantum) lattice Heisenberg algebra $\mathfrak{h}_B$. We show that, provided $B$ is not concentrated in degree zero, the Grothendieck group of $\mathcal{H}_B$ is isomorphic, as an algebra, to $\mathfrak{h}_B$. For specific choices of Frobenius algebra $B$, we recover existing results, including those of Khovanov and Cautis--Licata. We also prove that certain morphism spaces in the category $\mathcal{H}_B$ contain generalizations of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra. Specializing $B$, this proves an open conjecture of Cautis--Licata.

Mirabolic quantum $\mathfrak{sl}_2$

The quantum enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ (and the quantum Schur algebras) was constructed by Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson as the convolution algebra of $GL_d$-invariant functions over the space of pairs of partial $n$-step flags over a finite field. In this paper we expand the construction to the mirabolic setting of triples of two partial flags and a vector, and examine the resulting convolution algebra. In the case of $n=2$, we classify the finite dimensional irreducible representations of the mirabolic quantum algebra and we prove that the category of such representations is semisimple. Finally, we describe a mirabolic version of the quantum Schur-Weyl duality, which involves the mirabolic Hecke algebra.

Cylindrical Dyck paths and the Mazorchuk-Turowska equation

We classify all solutions (p,q) to the equation p(u)q(u)=p(u+b)q(u+a) where p and q are complex polynomials in one indeterminate u, and a and b are fixed but arbitrary complex numbers. This equation is a special case of a system of equations which ensures that certain algebras defined by generators and relations are non-trivial. We first give a necessary condition for the existence of non-trivial solutions to the equation. Then, under this condition, we use combinatorics of generalized Dyck paths to describe all solutions and a canonical way to factor each solution into a product of irreducible solutions.

Towers of graded superalgebras categorify the twisted Heisenberg double

We show that the Grothendieck groups of the categories of finitely-generated graded supermodules and finitely-generated projective graded supermodules over a tower of graded superalgebras satisfying certain natural conditions give rise to twisted Hopf algebras that are twisted dual. Then, using induction and restriction functors coming from such towers, we obtain a categorification of the twisted Heisenberg double and its Fock space representation. We show that towers of wreath product algebras (in particular, the tower of Sergeev superalgebras) and the tower of nilcoxeter graded superalgebras satisfy our axioms. In the latter case, one obtains a categorification of the quantum Weyl algebra.

Twisted Heisenberg doubles

We introduce a twisted version of the Heisenberg double, constructed from a twisted Hopf algebra and a twisted Hopf pairing. We state a Stone--von Neumann type theorem for a natural Fock space representation of this twisted Heisenberg double and deduce the effect on the algebra of shifting the product and coproduct of the original twisted Hopf algebra. We conclude by showing that the quantum Weyl algebra, quantum Heisenberg algebras, and lattice Heisenberg algebras are all examples of the general construction.
