The Dunkl two-photon/Schr\"odinger algebras and their applications

The work introduces the novel Dunkl two-photon and Dunkl-Schr\"odinger algebras as reflection-extended counterparts of the standard six-dimensional two-photon and Schr\"odinger algebras. These extensions are realized through the presence of an involutive generator representing a reflection, and they reduce to the undeformed two-photon and Schr\"odinger algebras in the absence of this additional generator in an appropriate limit. For both algebraic structures, which are shown to be isomorphic, we derive the associated cubic polynomial Casimir invariant. Furthermore, we identify several structurally significant subalgebras and compute their corresponding quadratic Casimir invariants. Representations of the Dunkl two-photon algebra are constructed on the Fock space of the one-dimensional Dunkl harmonic oscillator and subsequently translated into holomorphic realizations within the associated Dunkl-Fock-Bargmann representation. Finally, for the Dunkl-Schr\"odinger algebra, we present an explicit vector field realization in terms of the Dunkl spatial derivative, while keeping time continuous. When applied to the Casimir invariants of the aforementioned subalgebras, this realization yields a family of six nontrivial Dunkl differential-difference equations in $1+1$ dimensions, including, in particular, a Dunkl version of the well-known heat-Schr\"odinger equation.

Haantjes algebras, Zernike system and separation of variables

The generalized Zernike family $H_{(N)} = p_1^2 + p_2^2 + \sum_{n=1}^N \gamma_n\,(q_1 p_1 + q_2 p_2)^n$ is a parametric family of two-dimensional superintegrable Hamiltonians, admitting $N$ integrals of motion of degree $N$ in the momenta. A theorem of Nozaleda, Tempesta, and Tondo guarantees that canonical separation coordinates (Darboux--Haantjes coordinates) exist for any such system; the challenge is to construct them explicitly. This paper solves the problem for $N = 2$ -- the classical Zernike system, which is canonically equivalent to the isotropic harmonic oscillator on flat space or on a space of constant curvature -- covering all four known separation types: polar, two Cartesian-type, and elliptic. The key structural fact is that the Haantjes operators associated with all integrals of $H_{(2)}$ have no momentum-dependent off-diagonal block (lift form). We prove that this implies the separation coordinates are reachable by an extended point transformation: the new positions depend only on the old positions, with no momentum entering the coordinate change. In the polar and Cartesian-type cases the new position coordinates involve at most a square root of a single-variable rational function; in the elliptic case they are given by the two roots of a quadratic polynomial in the original coordinates, and the resulting branch structure introduces a fourth regular singular point in the quantum separated ODE, placing it in the Heun class, in agreement with results of Atakishiyev, Pogosyan, Vicent, Wolf, and Yakhno. For $N \geq 3$ we prove an obstruction: no lift-form Haantjes operator can generate an integral independent of the angular momentum. The separation coordinates for higher Zernike Hamiltonians therefore require momentum-dependent canonical transformations, whose explicit construction is the subject of future work.

Discrete-time maximally superintegrable systems and deformed symmetry algebras: the Calogero-Moser case

We determine the complete structure of the symmetry algebras associated with the N-body Calogero-Moser system and its maximally superintegrable discretization. We prove that the discretization naturally leads to a nontrivial deformation of the continuous symmetry algebra, with the discretization parameter playing the r\^ole of a deformation parameter. This phenomenon illustrates how discrete superintegrable systems can be viewed as natural sources of deformed polynomial algebraic structures. As a byproduct of these results, we also reveal a connection between the above-mentioned symmetry algebras and the Bell polynomials, as a consequence of the trace properties.

A novel chain of Lie algebras and its coalgebra symmetry

We study a novel $n(n+1)/2$-dimensional non-semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_n$, a generalisation of both $\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{K})$ and the two-photon Lie algebra $\mathfrak{h}_6$. We investigate its properties, including its structure, representations, and its Casimir elements. In particular, we prove that there exists only one non-trivial Casimir polynomial of degree $n$ given by the determinant of an $n\times n$ symmetric matrix. We then associate this Lie algebra to a hierarchy of Hamiltonian systems with integrability properties depending on $n$, and describe their first integrals as sums of squares of linear combinations of the components of the angular momentum. In particular, we obtain that these systems are integrable for $n=2$, quasi-integrable for $n=3$, and of Poincar\'e-Lyapunov-Nekhoroshev type for $n\geq4$.

Subalgebra chains and nuclear physics: Commutant approach and construction of polynomial algebras

In this paper, we review a new approach to study subalgebra chains $\mathfrak{g} \supset \mathfrak{g}'$ in the context of nuclear physics. This approach does not rely on explicit realizations as bosons or differential operators. We rely on the enveloping algebra, the notion of commutant $C_{U(\mathfrak{g})}(\mathfrak{g}^{\prime})$ and $\mathfrak{g}^{\prime}$-invariant polynomials. This approach builds on those $\mathfrak{g}^{\prime}$-invariant polynomials and finding the underlying finitely generated polynomial algebras. Those algebraic structures can then provide further information on sets of labeling operators. Another aspect of this method consists in exploiting the dual space and the symmetric algebra. Being independent of explicit realizations, it endows the algebraic relations with a universal character. We review the chains associated with $\mathfrak{su}(3) \supset \mathfrak{so}(3)$, $\mathfrak{so}(5) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{u}(1)$, $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$. Those chains are known as the Elliott, Seniority and Supermultiplet. We also provide new results and insights into the subalgebra chain $\mathfrak{so}(5) \supset \mathfrak{so}(3)$ of the Surfon model. For all chains, we present the related commutant, $\mathfrak{g}^{\prime}$-invariant polynomials and Poisson algebras.

Generalized classical and quantum Zernike Hamiltonians

A superintegrable generalization of the classical and quantum Zernike systems is reviewed. The corresponding Hamiltonians are endowed with higher-order integrals and can be interpreted as higher-order superintegrable perturbations of the 2D spherical (Higgs), hyperbolic, and Euclidean harmonic oscillators. As a new result, the complete polynomial Higgs-type symmetry algebra of the generalized classical system is presented. For the generalized quantum system, the symmetry algebra and the spectra are provided for a representative case.

An infinite family of Dunkl type superintegrable curved Hamiltonians through coalgebra symmetry: Oscillator and Kepler-Coulomb models

This work aims to bridge the gap between Dunkl superintegrable systems and the coalgebra symmetry approach to superintegrability, and subsequently to recover known models and construct new ones. In particular, an infinite family of $N$-dimensional quasi-maximally superintegrable quantum systems with reflections, sharing the same set of $2N-3$ quantum integrals, is introduced. The result is achieved by introducing a novel differential-difference realization of $\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{R})$ and then applying the coalgebra formalism. Several well-known maximally superintegrable models with reflections appear as particular cases of this general family, among them, the celebrated Dunkl oscillator and the Dunkl-Kepler-Coulomb system. Furthermore, restricting to the case of "hidden" quantum quadratic symmetries, maximally superintegrable curved oscillator and Kepler-Coulomb Hamiltonians of Dunkl type, sharing the same underlying $\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{R})$ coalgebra symmetry, are presented. Namely, the Dunkl oscillator and the Dunkl-Kepler-Coulomb system on the $N$-sphere and hyperbolic space together with two models which can be interpreted as a one-parameter superintegrable deformation of the Dunkl oscillator and the Dunkl-Kepler-Coulomb system on non-constant curvature spaces. In addition, maximally superintegrable generalizations of these models, involving non-central potentials, are also derived on flat and curved spaces. For all specific systems, at least an additional quantum integral is explicitly provided, which is related to the Dunkl version of a (curved) Demkov-Fradkin tensor or a Laplace-Runge-Lenz vector.

Explicit isomorphisms for the symmetry algebras of continuous and discrete isotropic oscillators

We present a detailed study of a parametric Lie algebra encompassing the symmetry algebras of various models, both continuous and discrete. This algebraic structure characterizes the isotropic oscillator (with positive, purely imaginary, and zero frequency) and one of its possible nonlinear deformations. We demonstrate a novel occurrence of this Lie algebra in the framework of maximally superintegrable discretizations of the isotropic harmonic oscillator. In particular, we also show that the continuous model and one of its discretizations admit a Nambu-Hamiltonian structure. Through an in-depth analysis of the properties characterizing the Lie algebra in the abstract setting, for different values of the parameter, we find explicit expressions of the Killing forms and construct explicit isomorphism maps to $\mathfrak{u}_N$, $\mathfrak{gl}_N(\mathbb{R})$, and a semidirect sum of $\mathfrak{so}_N(\mathbb{R})$ with $\mathbb{R}^{N(N+1)/2}$. Notably, due to the above isomorphisms, our formulas hold true for $\mathfrak{su}_N$ and $\mathfrak{sl}_N(\mathbb{R})$ and are valid for arbitrary $N$.

Polynomial algebra from the Lie algebra reduction chain $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$: The supermultiplet model

The supermultiplet model, based on the reduction chain $\mathfrak{su}(4) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$, is revisited through the lens of commutants within universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. From this analysis, a collection of twenty polynomials up to degree nine emerges from the commutant associated with the $\mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{su}(2)$ subalgebra. This study is conducted in the Poisson (commutative) framework using the Lie-Poisson bracket associated with the dual of the Lie algebra under consideration. As the main result, we obtain the polynomial Poisson algebra generated by these twenty linearly independent and indecomposable polynomials, with five elements being central. This incorporates polynomial expansions up to degree seventeen in the Lie algebra generators. We further discuss additional algebraic relations among these polynomials, explicitly detailing some of the lower-order ones. As a byproduct of these results, we also show that the recently introduced 'grading method' turns out to be essential for deriving the Poisson bracket relations when the degree of the expansions becomes so high that standard approaches are no longer applicable, due to computational limitations. These findings represent a further step toward the systematic exploration of polynomial algebras relevant to nuclear models.

On the construction of polynomial Poisson algebras: a novel grading approach

In this work, we refine recent results on the explicit construction of polynomial algebras associated with commutants of subalgebras in enveloping algebras of Lie algebras by considering an additional grading with respect to the subalgebra. It is shown that such an approach simplifies and systematizes the explicit derivation of the Lie--Poisson brackets of elements in the commutant, and several fundamental properties of the grading are given. The procedure is illustrated by revisiting three relevant reduction chains associated with the rank-two complex simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$. Specifically, we analyze the reduction chains $\mathfrak{so}(3) \subset \mathfrak{su}(3)$, corresponding to the Elliott model in nuclear physics, the chain $\mathfrak{o}(3) \subset \mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$ associated with the decomposition of the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$ as a sum of modules, and the reduction chain $\mathfrak{h} \subset \mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})$ connected to the Racah algebra $R(3)$. In addition, a description of the classification of the centralizer with respect to the Cartan subalgebra $\mathfrak{h}$ associated with the classical series $A_n$ in connection with its root system is reconsidered. As an illustration of the procedure, the case of $S(A_3)^\mathfrak{h}$ is considered in detail, which is connected with the rank-two Racah algebra for specific realizations of the generators as vector fields. This case has attracted interest with regard to orthogonal polynomials.

Generalized quantum Zernike Hamiltonians: Polynomial Higgs-type algebras and algebraic derivation of the spectrum

We consider the quantum analog of the generalized Zernike systems given by the Hamiltonian: $$\hat{\mathcal{H}}_N =\hat{p}_1^2+\hat{p}_2^2+\sum_{k=1}^N \gamma_k (\hat{q}_1 \hat{p}_1+\hat{q}_2 \hat{p}_2)^k ,$$ with canonical operators $\hat{q}_i,\, \hat{p}_i$ and arbitrary coefficients $\gamma_k$. This two-dimensional quantum model, besides the conservation of the angular momentum, exhibits higher-order integrals of motion within the enveloping algebra of the Heisenberg algebra in two dimensions. By constructing suitable combinations of these integrals, we uncover a polynomial Higgs-type symmetry algebra that, through an appropriate change of basis, gives rise to a deformed oscillator algebra. The associated structure function $\Phi$ is shown to factorize into two commuting components $\Phi=\Phi_1 \Phi_2$. This framework enables an algebraic determination of the possible energy spectra of the model for the cases $1\le N \le 5$, the case $N=1$ being canonically equivalent to the harmonic oscillator. Based on these findings, we propose two conjectures which generalize the results for all $N\ge 1$ and any value of the coefficients $\gamma_k$. In addition, all of these results can be interpreted as higher-order superintegrable perturbations of the original quantum Zernike system corresponding to $N=2$, which are also analyzed and applied to the isotropic oscillator on the sphere, hyperbolic and Euclidean spaces

Polynomial Poisson Algebras and Superintegrable Systems from Cartan centralisers of Types $B_3$, $C_3$ and $D_3$

In this work, we construct explicit formulas for the generators of the Cartan centralisers of complex semisimple Lie algebras $B_n,C_n$ and $D_n$, the case $A_n$ being already known \cite{campoamor2023algebraic}. The precise structures for the cases of rank-three simple Lie algebras ($B_3,C_3$ and $D_3$) are provided, and the inclusion relations between the corresponding polynomial Poisson algebras (finitely generated Poisson algebras over $\mathbb{C}[\mathfrak{h}^*]$) are illustrated. We develop the idea of constructing algebraic superintegrable systems and their integrals from the generators of these polynomial Poisson algebras. In particular, we explicitly present the algebraic superintegrable systems corresponding to the Cartan reduction chains $\mathfrak{h} \subset \mathfrak{so}(6,\mathbb{C})$, $\mathfrak{h} \subset \mathfrak{so}(7,\mathbb{C})$, and $\mathfrak{h} \subset \mathfrak{sp}(6,\mathbb{C})$.

Polynomial algebras from Lie algebra reduction chains $\mathfrak{g} \supset \mathfrak{g}'$

We reexamine different examples of reduction chains $\mathfrak{g} \supset \mathfrak{g}'$ of Lie algebras in order to show how the polynomials determining the commutant with respect to the subalgebra $\mathfrak{g}'$ leads to polynomial deformations of Lie algebras. These polynomial algebras have already been observed in various contexts, such as in the framework of superintegrable systems. Two relevant chains extensively studied in Nuclear Physics, namely the Elliott chain $\mathfrak{su}(3) \supset \mathfrak{so}(3)$ and the chain $\mathfrak{so}(5) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{u}(1)$ related to the Seniority model, are analyzed in detail from this perspective. We show that these two chains both lead to three-generator cubic polynomial algebras, a result that paves the way for a more systematic investigation of nuclear models in relation to polynomial structures arising from reduction chains. In order to show that the procedure is not restricted to semisimple algebras, we also study the chain $\hat{S}(3) \supset \mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R}) \times \mathfrak{so}(2)$ involving the centrally-extended Schr{ö}dinger algebra in $(3+1)$-dimensional space-time. The approach chosen to construct these polynomial algebras is based on the use of the Lie-Poisson bracket, so that all the results are presented in the Poisson (commutative) setting. The advantage of considering this approach {\it vs.} the enveloping algebras is emphasized, commenting on the main formal differences between the polynomial Poisson algebras and their noncommutative analogue. As an illustrative example of the latter, the three-generator cubic algebra associated to the Elliott chain is reformulated in the Lie algebraic (noncommutative) setting.

Polynomial algebras from commutants: Classical and Quantum aspects of $\mathcal{A}_3$

We review some aspects of the Racah algebra $R(n)$, including the closure relations, pointing out their role in superintegrability, as well as in the description of the symmetry algebra for several models with coalgebra symmetry. The connection includes the generic model on the $(n-1)$ sphere. We discuss an algebraic scheme of constructing Hamiltonians, integrals of the motion and symmetry algebras. This scheme reduces to the Racah algebra $R(n)$ and the model on the $(n-1)$ sphere only for the case of specific differential operator realizations. We review the method, which allows us to obtain the commutant defined in the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ in the classical setting. The related $\mathcal{A}_3$ polynomial algebra is presented for the case $\mathfrak{sl}(3)$. An explicit construction of the quantization of the scheme for $\mathcal{A}_3$ by symmetrization of the polynomial and the replacement of the Berezin bracket by commutator and symmetrization of the polynomial relations is presented. We obtain the additional quantum terms. These explicit relations are of interest not only for superintegrability, but also for other applications in mathematical physics.

The $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}(\mathbb{R})$ coalgebra symmetry and the superintegrable discrete-time systems

In this paper, we classify all the variational discrete-time systems in quasi-standard form in $N$ degrees of freedom admitting coalgebra symmetry with respect to the generic realisation of the Lie-Poisson algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}(\mathbb{R})$. This approach naturally yields several quasi-maximally and maximally superintegrable discrete-time systems, both known and new. We conjecture that this exhausts the (super)integrable cases associated with this algebraic construction.

Algebraic (super-)integrability from commutants of subalgebras in universal enveloping algebras

Starting from a purely algebraic procedure based on the commutant of a subalgebra in the universal enveloping algebra of a given Lie algebra, the notion of algebraic Hamiltonians and the constants of the motion generating a polynomial symmetry algebra is proposed. The case of the special linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ is discussed in detail, where an explicit basis for the commutant with respect to the Cartan subalgebra is obtained, and the order of the polynomial algebra is computed. It is further shown that, with an appropriate realization of $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$, this provides an explicit connection with the generic superintegrable model on the $(n-1)$-dimensional sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ and the related Racah algebra $R(n)$. In particular, we show explicitly how the models on the $2$-sphere and $3$-sphere and the associated symmetry algebras can be obtained from the quadratic and cubic polynomial algebras generated by the commutants defined in the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(3)$ and $\mathfrak{sl}(4)$, respectively. The construction is performed in the classical (or Poisson-Lie) context, where the Berezin bracket replaces the commutator.

Recurrence relations and general solution of the exceptional Hermite equation

Exceptional orthogonal Hermite and Laguerre polynomials have been linked to the k-step extension of harmonic and singular oscillators. The exceptional polynomials allow the existence of different supercharges from the Darboux-Crum and Krein-Adler constructions of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. They also allow the existence of different types of ladder relations and their associated recurrence relations. The existence of such relations is a unique property of these polynomials. Those relations have been used to construct 2D models which are superintegrable, and display an interesting spectrum, degeneracies and finite-dimensional unitary representations. In previous works, only the physical or polynomial part of the spectrum is discussed. It is known that the general solutions are associated with other types of recurrence/ladder relations. We plan to discuss in detail the case of the exceptional Hermite polynomials $X_2^{(1)}$ and to explicitly present new chains obtained by acting with different types of ladder operators. We will exploit a recent result by one of the authors [32], where the general analytic solution was constructed and connected with the non-degenerate confluent Heun equation. The analogue Rodrigues formulas for the general solution are constructed. The set of finite states from which the other states can be obtained algebraically is not unique but the vanishing arrow and diagonal arrow from the diagram of the 2-chain representations can be used to obtain minimal sets. These Rodrigues formulas are then exploited, not only to construct the states, polynomial and non-polynomial, in a purely algebraic way, but also to obtain coefficients from the action of ladder operators also in an algebraic manner based on further commutation relations between monomials of the generators.

Construction of polynomial algebras from intermediate Casimir invariants of Lie algebras

We propose a systematic procedure to construct polynomial algebras from intermediate Casimir invariants arising from (semisimple or non-semisimple) Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}$. In this approach, we deal with explicit polynomials in the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g}$. We present explicit examples to show how these Lie algebras can display different behaviours and can lead to Abelian algebras, quadratic algebras or more complex structures involving higher order nested commutators. Within this framework, we also demonstrate how virtual copies of the Levi factor of a Levi decomposable Lie algebra can be used as a tool to construct "copies" of polynomial algebras. Different schemes to obtain polynomial algebras associated to algebraic Hamiltonians have been proposed in the literature, among them the use of commutants of various type. The present approach is different and relies on the construction of intermediate Casimir invariants in the enveloping algebra $\mathcal{U}(\mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g})$.
