On the unramified Eisenstein spectrum

For a split reductive group ${}^L G$ over a global field, we determine the spectrum of the spherical Hecke algebra coming from the unramified Eisenstein series for the minimal parabolic ${}^L B$. This is done using a certain decomposition of the Springer stack $T^*(B \backslash G/ B)$ for the Langlands dual group in the additive group of cobordisms of cohomologically proper derived quotient stacks.

Schwartz $κ$-densities on the moduli stack of rank $2$ bundles near stable bundles

Let $C$ be a curve over a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero. We formulate algebro-geometric statements that imply boundedness of functions on the moduli space of stable bundles of rank $2$ and fixed odd degree determinant over $C$, coming from the Schwartz space of $κ$-densities on the corresponding stack of bundles (earlier we proved that these functions are locally constant on the locus of very stable bundles). We prove the relevant algebro-geometric statements for curves of genus $2$ and for non-hyperelliptic curves of genus $3$.

A question about the Fourier transform

This paper formulates a conjectural description of of the space of weightless functions (see\cite{BK}) and raises a question about a possibility of extending such a description in a more general context.

Schwartz $κ$-densities for the moduli stack of rank $2$ bundles on a curve over a local field

Let $\rm{Bun}$ be the moduli stack of rank $2$ bundles with fixed determinant on a smooth proper curve $C$ over a local field $F$. We show how to associate with a Schwartz $κ$-density, for $\rm{Re}(κ)\ge 1/2$, a smooth function on the corresponding coarse moduli space of very stable bundles. In the non-archimedean case we also prove that the stack $\rm{Bun}$ is $κ$-bounded in the sense of Definition 2.10 of [arXiv:2112.08139] for any $κ\in\mathbb{C}$.

Superperiods and superstring measure near the boundary of the moduli space of supercurves

We study the behavior of the superperiod map near the boundary of the moduli space of stable supercurves and prove that it is similar to the behavior of periods of classical curves. We consider two applications to the geometry of this moduli space in genus $2$, denoted as $\bar{\mathcal S}_2$. First, we characterize the canonical projection of $\bar{\mathcal S}_2$ in terms of its behavior near the boundary, proving in particular that $\bar{\mathcal S}_2$ is not projected. Secondly, we combine the information on superperiods with the explicit calculation of genus $2$ Mumford isomorphism, due to Witten, to study the expansion of the superstring measure for genus $2$ near the boundary. We also present the proof, due to Deligne, of regularity of the superstring measure on $\bar{\mathcal S}_g$ for any genus.

L-function genera and applications

We introduce equivariant L-genera associated to actions of Galois and related groups on algebraic varieties. We explain the role which these L-genera play in the spectral analysis of Eisenstein series. We also discuss the natural categorification of L-genera and its potential role in enumerative geometry.

A fusion construction of local L-factors

We propose a new conjectural way to calculate the local $L$-factor $L=L_χ(π,ρ,s)$ where $π$ is a representation of a $p$-adic group $G$, $ρ$ is an algebraic representation of the dual group $G^{\vee}$ and $χ$ is an algebraic character of $G$ satisfying a positivity condition. A method going back to Godement and Jacquet yields a description of $L$ using as an input a certain space ${\mathcal S}_ρ$ of functions on $G$ depending on $ρ$. A (partly conjectural) description of ${\mathcal S}_ρ$ involving trace of Frobenius functions associated to perverse sheaves on the loop space of a semigroup containing $G$ was developed %by Bouthier, Ngo and Sakellaridis, partly based on an earlier work of Braverman and Kazhdan. Here we propose a different, more general conjectural description of ${\mathcal S}_ρ$: it also refers to trace of Frobenius functions but instead of the loop space of a semi-group we work with the ramified global Grassmannian fibering over the configuration space of points on a global curve defined by Beilinson-Drinfeld and Gaitsgory (a relation between two approaches is discussed in the appendix). Our main result asserts validity of our conjectures where $π$ is generated by an Iwahori fixed vector: we show that in this case it is compatible with the standard formula for $L$ involving local Langlands correspondence which is known for such representations $π$. The proof is based on properties of the coherent realization of the affine Hecke category.

A comparison of Hochschild homology in algebraic and smooth settings

Consider a complex affine variety $\tilde V$ and a real analytic Zariski-dense submanifold V of $\tilde V$. We compare modules over the ring $O (\tilde V)$ of regular functions on $\tilde V$ with modules over the ring $C^\infty (V)$ of smooth complex valued functions on V. Under a mild condition on the tangent spaces, we prove that $C^\infty (V)$ is flat as a module over $O (\tilde V)$. From this we deduce a comparison theorem for the Hochschild homology of finite type algebras over $O (\tilde V)$ and the Hochschild homology of similar algebras over $C^\infty (V)$. We also establish versions of these results for functions on $\tilde V$ (resp. V) that are invariant under the action of a finite group G. As an auxiliary result, we show that $C^\infty (V)$ has finite rank as module over $C^\infty (V)^G$.

Hecke operators and analytic Langlands correspondence for curves over local fields

We construct analogues of the Hecke operators for the moduli space of G-bundles on a curve X over a local field F with parabolic structures at finitely many points. We conjecture that they define commuting compact normal operators on the Hilbert space of half-densities on this moduli space. In the case F=C, we also conjecture that their joint spectrum is in a natural bijection with the set of opers on X for the Langlands dual group with real monodromy. This may be viewed as an analytic version of the Langlands correspondence for complex curves. Furthermore, we conjecture an explicit formula relating the eigenvalues of the Hecke operators and the global differential operators studied in our previous paper arXiv:1908.09677. Assuming the compactness conjecture, this formula follows from a certain system of differential equations satisfied by the Hecke operators, which we prove in this paper for G=PGL(n).

A general framework for the analytic Langlands correspondence

We discuss a general framework for the analytic Langlands correspondence over an arbitrary local field F introduced and studied in our works arXiv:1908.09677, arXiv:2103.01509 and arXiv:2106.05243, in particular including non-split and twisted settings. Then we specialize to the archimedean cases (F=C and F=R) and give a (mostly conjectural) description of the spectrum of the Hecke operators in various cases in terms of opers satisfying suitable reality conditions, as predicted in part in arXiv:2103.01509, arXiv:2106.05243 and arXiv:2107.01732. We also describe an analogue of the Langlands functoriality principle in the analytic Langlands correspondence over C and show that it is compatible with the results and conjectures of arXiv:2103.01509. Finally, we apply the tools of the analytic Langlands correspondence over archimedean fields in genus zero to the Gaudin model and its generalizations, as well as their q-deformations.

Hecke algebras for the 1st congruence subgroup and bundles on ${\mathbb P}^1$ I: the case of finite field

Let $G$ be a split reductive group over a finite field $k$. In this note we study the space $V$ of finitely supported functions on the set of isomorphism classes $G$-bundles on the projective line ${\mathbb P}^1$ endowed with a trivialization at $0$ and $\infty$. We show that $V$ is naturally isomorphic to the regular bimodule over the Hecke algebra $A$ of the group $G(k((t)))$ with respect to the first congruence subgroup. As a byproduct we show that Hecke operators at points different from $0$ and $\infty$ to generate the "stable center" of $A$. We provide an expression of the character of the lifting of an irreducible cuspidal representation of $GL(N,k)$ to $GL(N,k')$ where $k'$ is a finite extension of $k$ in terms of these generators. In a subsequent publication we plan to develop analogous constructions in the case when $k$ is replaced by a local non-archimedian field.

Fourier transform on a cone and the minimal representation of even orthogonal group

Let $G$ be an even orthogonal quasi-split group defined over a local non-archimedean field $F$. We describe the subspace of smooth vectors of the minimal representation of $G(F),$ realized on the space of square-integrable functions on a cone. Our main tool is the Fourier transform on the cone, for which we give an explicit formula.

Automorphic functions for nilpotent extensions of curves over finite fields

We define and study the subspace of cuspidal functions for $G$-bundles on a class of nilpotent extensions $C$ of curves over a finite field. We show that this subspace is preserved by the action of a certain noncommutative Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_{G,C}$. In the case $G=\rm{GL}_2$, we construct a commutative subalgebra in $\mathcal{H}_{G,C}$ of Hecke operators associated with simple divisors. In the case of length 2 extensions and of $G=\rm{GL}_2$, we prove that the space of cuspidal functions (for bundles with a fixed determinant) is finite-dimensional and provide bounds on its dimension. In this case we also construct some Hecke eigenfunctions using the relation to Higgs bundles over the corresponding reduced curve.

Schmidt rank and singularities

We revisit Schmidt's theorem connecting the Schmidt rank of a tensor with the codimension of a certain variety and adapt the proof to the case of arbitrary characteristic. We also find a sharper result of this kind for homogeneous polynomials of degree d (assuming that the characteristic does not divide d(d-1)). We then use this to relate the Schmidt rank of a homogeneous polynomial (resp., a collection of homogeneous polynomials of the same degree) with the codimension of the singular locus of the corresponding hypersurface (resp., intersection of hypersurfaces). This gives an effective version of Ananyan-Hochster's Theorem A from arXiv:1610.09268.

Contractibility of the space of generic opers for classical groups

Let $G$ be a reductive group and $X$ a smooth projective curve. We prove that, for $G$ classical and $σ$ an arbitrary $G$-local system on $X$, the space $\overline{\operatorname{Op}}^{gen}_{G,σ}$ of generic extended oper structures on $σ$ is homologically contractible. This contractibility result is crucial for the proof of the geometric Langlands conjecture.
