On the Existence of Geometrically Attracting Measures for Iterated Function Systems with Varying Sets of Transformations

In this paper, we focus on the asymptotic behavior of random iterated functions systems, in which both the family of transformations and the distribution of selecting them vary at each step. We consider two types of dynamics: the time-inhomogeneous Markov chain arising from forward iterates and the non-Markovian process generated by backward iterates. For both settings, we provide certain criteria for the existence of a probability measure that is geometrically attracting in the bounded Lipschitz distance, independently of the initial distribution. Finally, we illustrate our results through applications to specific models involving affine transformations.

Law of the Iterated Logarithm for Markov Semigroups with Exponential Mixing in the Wasserstein Distance

In this paper, we establish the law of the iterated logarithm for a wide class of non-stationary, continuous-time Markov processes evolving on Polish spaces. Specifically, our result applies to certain additive functionals of processes governed by stochastically continuous Markov-Feller semigroups that exhibit exponential mixing and non-expansiveness in the Wasserstein distance, provided that a suitable moment condition involving the initial distribution is satisfied. Furthermore, we outline the application of this result to a Markov process arising as the solution of an infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equation with dissipative drift and additive noise.

On the Existence and Uniqueness of Stationary Distributions for Some Piecewise Deterministic Markov Processes With State-Dependent Jump Intensity

In this paper, we consider a subclass of piecewise deterministic Markov processes with a Polish state space that involve a deterministic motion punctuated by random jumps, occurring in a Poisson-like fashion with some state-dependent rate, between which the trajectory is driven by one of the given semiflows. We prove that there is a one-to-one correspondence between stationary distributions of such processes and those of the Markov chains given by their post-jump locations. Using this result, we further establish a criterion guaranteeing the existence and uniqueness of the stationary distribution in a particular case, where the post-jump locations result from the action of a random iterated function system with an arbitrary set of transformations.

The central limit theorem for Markov processes that are exponentially ergodic in the bounded-Lipschitz norm

In this paper, we establish a version of the central limit theorem for Markov-Feller continuous time processes (with a Polish state space) that are exponentially ergodic in the bounded-Lipschitz distance and enjoy a continuous form of the Foster-Lyapunov condition. As an example, we verify the assumptions of our main result for a specific piecewise-deterministic Markov process, whose deterministic component evolves according to continuous semiflows, switched randomly at the jump times of a Poisson process.

Exponential ergodicity in the bounded-Lipschitz distance for a subclass of piecewise-deterministic Markov processes with random switching between flows

In this paper, we study a subclass of piecewise-deterministic Markov processes with a Polish state space, involving deterministic motion punctuated by random jumps that occur at exponentially distributed time intervals. Over each of these intervals, the process follows a flow, selected randomly among a finite set of all possible ones. Our main goal is to provide a set of verifiable conditions guaranteeing the exponential ergodicity for such processes (in terms of the bounded Lipschitz distance), which would refer only to properties of the flows and the transition law of the Markov chain given by the post-jump locations. Moreover, we establish a simple criterion on the exponential ergodicity for a particular instance of these processes, applicable to certain biological models, where the jumps result from the action of an iterated function system with place-dependent probabilities.

Exponential ergodicity of some Markov dynamical system with application to a Poisson driven stochastic differential equation

We are concerned with the asymptotics of the Markov chain given by the post-jump locations of a certain piecewise-deterministic Markov process with a state-dependent jump intensity. We provide sufficient conditions for such a model to possess a unique invariant distribution, which is exponentially attracting in the dual bounded Lipschitz distance. Having established this, we generalise a result of J. Kazak on the jump process defined by a Poisson driven stochastic differential equation with a solution-dependent intensity of perturbations.

On absolute continuity of invariant measures associated with a piecewise-deterministic Markov processes with random switching between flows

We are concerned with the absolute continuity of stationary distributions corresponding to some piecewise deterministic Markov process, being typically encountered in biological models. The process under investigation involves a deterministic motion punctuated by random jumps, occurring at the jump times of a Poisson process. The post-jump locations are obtained via random transformations of the pre-jump states. Between the jumps, the motion is governed by continuous semiflows , which are switched directly after the jumps. The main goal of this paper is to provide a set of verifiable conditions implying that any invariant distribution of the process under consideration that corresponds to an ergodic invariant measure of the Markov chain given by its post-jump locations has a density with respect to the Lebesgue measure.

The Strassen Invariance Principle for Certain Non-stationary Markov-Feller Chains

We propose certain conditions which are sufficient for the functional law of the iterated logarithm (the Strassen invariance principle) for some general class of non-stationary Markov-Feller chains. This class may be briefly specified by the following two properties: firstly, the transition operator of the chain under consideration enjoys a non-linear Lyapunov-type condition, and secondly, there exists an appropriate Markovian coupling whose transition probability function can be decomposed into two parts, one of which is contractive and dominant in some sense. The construction of such a coupling derives from the paper of M. Hairer (Probab. Theory Related Fields, 124(3):345--380, 2002). Our criterion may serve as a useful tool in verifying the functional law of the iterated logarithm for certain random dynamical systems, developed eg. in molecular biology. In the final part of the paper we present an example application of our main theorem to the mathematical model describing stochastic dynamics of gene expression.

The law of the iterated logarithm for a piecewise deterministic Markov process assured by the properties of the Markov chain given by its post-jump locations

In the paper we consider some piecewise deterministic Markov process whose continuous component evolves according to semiflows, which are switched at the jump times of a Poisson process. The associated Markov chain describes the states of this process directly after the jumps. Certain ergodic properties of these two objects have already been investigated in our recent papers. We now aim to establish the law of the iterated logarithm for the aforementioned continuous-time process. Moreover, we intend to do this using the already proven properties of the discrete-time system. The abstract model under consideration has interesting interpretations in real-life sciences, such as biology. Among others, it can be used to describe the stochastic dynamics of gene expression.

A Useful Version of the Central Limit Theorem for a General Class of Markov Chains

In the paper we propose certain conditions, relatively easy to verify, which ensure the central limit theorem for some general class of Markov chains. To justify the usefulness of our criterion, we further verify it for a particular discrete-time Markov dynamical system. From the application point of view, the examined system provides a useful tool in analysing the stochastic dynamics of gene expression in prokaryotes.

Ergodic properties of some piecewise-deterministic Markov process with application to gene expression modelling

A piecewise-deterministic Markov process, specified by random jumps and switching semi-flows, as well as the associated Markov chain given by its post-jump locations, are investigated in this paper. The existence of an exponentially attracting invariant measure and the strong law of large numbers are proven for the chain. Further, a one-to-one correspondence between invariant measures for the chain and invariant measures for the continuous-time process is established. This result, together with the aforementioned ergodic properties of the discrete-time model, is used to derive the strong law of large numbers for the process. The studied random dynamical systems are inspired by certain biological models of gene expression, which are also discussed within this paper.

Continuous dependence of an invariant measure on the jump rate of a piecewise-deterministic Markov process

We investigate a piecewise-deterministic Markov process, evolving on a Polish metric space, whose deterministic behaviour between random jumps is governed by some semi-flow, and any state right after the jump is attained by a randomly selected continuous transformation. It is assumed that the jumps appear at random moments, which coincide with the jump times of a Poisson process with intensity $λ$. The model of this type, although in a more general version, was examined in our previous papers, where we have shown, among others, that the Markov process under consideration possesses a unique invariant probability measure, say $ν_λ^*$. The aim of this paper is to prove that the map $λ\mapstoν_λ^*$ is continuous (in the topology of weak convergence of probability measures). The studied dynamical system is inspired by certain stochastic models for cell division and gene expression.
