Photon bremsstrahlung from heavy quarks in a dense nuclear matter

We study the bremsstrahlung photon production from a hard jet parton induced by rescattering with a dense nuclear medium. Using the charged current interaction channel of deep inelastic scattering between an electron and a large nucleus, we derive the spectrum of medium-induced photons emitted from high-energy heavy and light quarks at the next-to-leading twist in a unified framework. Going beyond the collinear expansion approximation, we show that the photon spectrum is determined by the full momentum distribution of the gluon exchanged between the propagating quark and the medium, or equivalently, by the differential elastic scattering rate of the hard quark inside the medium. Modeling the gluon field with a static Debye screened potential reduces the photon spectrum to a dependence on the transverse momentum distribution of the exchanged gluon. This work provides a more reliable input for future phenomenological studies of quark mass effects on jet-induced photon production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

Neural-Network Holographic Model of the QCD Phase Transition under Lattice and HRG Constraints

Within a neural-network-based holographic framework, we incorporate lattice QCD (LQCD) and Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) data to train the model and predict the location of the QCD critical endpoint (CEP). The training dataset consists of the entropy density, baryon number susceptibility, and baryon density. The metric warp factor $A(z)$ and the gauge kinetic function $f(z)$ are parameterized by neural networks and determined through the training procedure. The resulting model reproduces the equation of state at vanishing chemical potential in good agreement with both LQCD and HRG data. Extending the analysis to finite chemical potential, we solve the equations of motion and obtain thermodynamic observables consistent with LQCD results at finite density. After incorporating the HRG constraints, the predicted position of the CEP shifts toward larger chemical potentials compared to recent studies. We further employ symbolic regression to derive analytic expressions for $A(z)$ and $f(z)$, providing convenient functional forms for future phenomenological applications. Finally, we perform a data-driven validation using synthetic thermodynamic data generated from an existing analytical holographic model. The neural-network framework reproduces the corresponding CEP location with good accuracy, showing close agreement within numerical uncertainties.

String tension and Polyakov loop in a rotating background

We study the influence of a rotation on the string tension and the temperature of the confinement-deconfinement transition of gluodynamics by gauge/gravity duality. We explore two distinct approaches, global transformation and local transformation, to introduce rotation and compare the results. It is shown that the string tension extracted from the free energy in the presence of a heavy quarkonium decreases with the increasing angular velocity, while the transition temperature determined by the Polyakov loop increases with increasing angular velocity, which is in line with lattice simulations.

Heavy quark potential and jet quenching parameter in a rotating D-instanton background

We get the dual gravity metric of the rotating nuclear matter by performing a standard Lorentz transformation on the static metric in the D-instanton background. Then, we study the effects of the angular velocity, the instanton density and the temperature on the heavy quark potential. It is shown that the angular velocity and the temperature promote dissociation of the quark-antiquark pair, and the instanton density suppresses dissociation. Similarly, according to the result of the jet quenching parameter, we found that the jet quenching parameter increases with the increase of angular velocity, instanton density and temperature, and the jet quenching parameter in the rotating D-instanton background is larger than that of N = 4 SYM theory.

Drag force and heavy quark potential in a rotating background

We explored the gravity dual of a rotating quark-gluon plasma by transforming the boundary coordinates of the large black hole limit of Schwarchild-$\text{AdS}_5$ metric. The Euler-Lagrange equation of the Nambu-Goto action and its solution become more complex than those without rotation. For small angular velocity, we obtained an analytical form of the drag force acting on a quark moving in the direction of the rotation axis and found it stronger than that without rotation. We also calculated the heavy quark potential under the same approximation. For the quarkonium symmetric with respect to the rotation axis, the depth of the potential is reduced by the rotation. For the quarkonium oriented in parallel to the rotation axis, the binding force is weakened and the force range becomes longer. We also compared our holographic formulation with others in the literature.

Axial Chiral Vortical Effect in a Sphere with finite size effect

We investigate the axial vortical effect in a uniformly rotating sphere subject to finite size. We use MIT boundary condition to limit the boundary of the sphere. For massless fermions inside the sphere, we obtain the exact axial vector current far from the boundary that matches the expression obtained in cylindrical coordinates in the literature. On the spherical boundary, we find both the longitudinal and transverse(with respect to the rotation axis) components with magnitude depending on the colatitude angle. For massive fermions, we derive an expansion of the axial conductivity far from the boundary to all orders of mass whose leading order term agrees with the mass correction reported in the literature. We also obtain the leading order mass correction on the boundary which is linear, and stronger than the quadratic dependence far from the boundary. The qualitative implications on the phenomenology of heavy ion collisions are speculated.

Thermodynamics of the system of massive Dirac fermions in a uniform magnetic field

We construct the grand partition function of the system of massive Dirac fermions in a uniform magnetic field from Landau levels, through which all thermodynamic quantities can be obtained. Making use of the Abel-Plana formula, these thermodynamic quantities can be expanded as power series with respect to the dimensionless variable $b=2eB/T^{2}$. The zero-field magnetic susceptibility is expanded at zero mass, and the leading order term is logarithmic. We also calculate scalar, vector current, axial vector current and energy-momentum tensor of the system through ensemble average approach. Mass correction to chiral separation effect is discussed. For massless chiral fermions, our results recover the chiral magnetic effect for right- and left-handed fermions, as well as chiral separation effect.

Thermodynamics of Chiral Fermion System in a Uniform Magnetic Field

We construct the grand partition function of the system of chiral fermions in a uniform magnetic field from Landau levels, through which all thermodynamic quantities can be obtained. Taking use of Abel-Plana formula, these thermodynamic quantities can be expanded as series with respect to a dimensionless variable $b=2eB/T^{2}$. We find that the series expansions of energy density, pressure, magnetization intensity and magnetic susceptibility contain a singular term with $\ln b^{2}$, while particle number density, entropy density and heat capacity are power series of $b^{2}$. The asymptotic behaviors of these thermodynamic quantities in extreme conditions are also discussed.

Chiral magnetic effect for chiral fermion system

We concisely derive chiral magnetic effect through Wigner function approach for chiral fermion system. Then we derive chiral magnetic effect through solving the Landau levels of chiral fermions in detail. The procedures of second quantization and ensemble average lead to the equation of chiral magnetic effect for righthand and lefthand fermion systems. Chiral magnetic effect only comes from the contribution of the lowest Landau level. We carefully analyze the lowest Landau level, and find that all righthand (chirality is +1) fermions move along positive z-direction and all lefthand (chirality is -1) fermions move along negative z-direction. From this picture chiral magnetic effect can be explained clearly in a microscopic way.

Gluon emission from heavy quarks in dense nuclear matter

We study the medium-induced gluon emission process experienced by a hard jet parton propagating through the dense nuclear matter in the framework of deep inelastic scattering off a large nucleus. We work beyond the collinear rescattering expansion and the soft gluon emission limit, and derive a closed formula for the medium-induced single gluon emission spectrum from a heavy or light quark jet interacting with the dense nuclear medium via transverse and longitudinal scatterings. Without performing the collinear rescattering expansion, the medium-induced gluon emission spectrum is controlled by the full distribution of the differential elastic scattering rates between the propagating partons and the medium constituents. We further show that if one utilizes heavy static scattering centers for the traversed nuclear matter and takes the soft gluon emission limit, our result can reduce to the first order in opacity Djordjevic-Gyulassy-Levai-Vitev formula.

Medium-induced gluon emission via transverse and longitudinal scattering in dense nuclear matter

We study the medium-induced gluon emission from a hard quark jet traversing the dense nuclear matter within the framework of deep inelastic scattering off a large nucleus. We extend the previous work and compute the single gluon emission spectrum including both transverse and longitudinal momentum exchanges between the hard jet parton and the medium constituents. On the other hand, with only transverse scattering and using static scattering centers for the traversed medium, our induced gluon emission spectrum in the soft gluon limit reduces to the Gyulassy-Levai-Vitev one-rescattering-one-emission formula.

Chiral phase transition in linear sigma model with non-extensive statistical mechanics

From the non-extensive statistical mechanics, we investigate the chiral phase transition at finite temperature $T$ and baryon chemical potential $μ_B$ in the framework of the linear sigma model. The corresponding non-extensive distribution, based on Tsallis' statistics, is characterized by a dimensionless non-extensive parameter, $q$, and the results in the usual Boltzmann-Gibbs case are recovered when $q\to 1$. The thermodynamics of the linear sigma model and its correspodning phase diagram are analysed. At high temperature region, the critical temperature $T_c$ is shown to decrease with increasing $q$ from the phase diagram in the $(T,~μ)$ plane. However, larger values of $q$ causes the rise of $T_c$ at low temperature but high chemical potential. Moreover, it is found that $μ$ different from zero corresponds to a first-order phase transition while $μ=0$ to a crossover one. The critical endpoint (CEP) carries higher chemical potential but lower temperature with $q$ increasing due to the non-extensive effects.

Photon bremsstrahlung from quark jet via transverse and longitudinal scatterings: single versus multiple scatterings

We study the production of jet-bremsstrahlung photons through the scattering with the constituents of a dense nuclear matter within the framework of deep-inelastic scattering off a large nucleus. Applying a gradient expansion up to the second order for the exchanged three-dimensional momentum between jet and medium, we derive the single photon bremsstrahlung spectrum with the inclusion of the contributions from the transverse broadening as well as the longitudinal drag and diffusion of the hard parton's momentum. We also compare the medium-induced photon radiation spectra for single scattering and from the resummation of multiple scatterings. It is found that the coupling between different scatterings can give additional contribution to medium-induced photon radiation, while for small momentum exchange, the leading contribution from the drag and diffusions to the photon emission spectra remain the same for single and multiple scatterings.
