Implication of BaBar's new data on the $D_{s1}(2710)$ and $D_{sJ}(2860)$

The strong decays of the $D_{s1}(2710)$ and $D_{sJ}(2860)$ are investigated in the framework of the $^3P_0$ model. Its decay properties newly reported by the BaBar Collaboration can be reasonably accounted for in the presence of the $D_{s1}(2710)$ being a mixture of the $D_s(2 ^3S_1)$ and $D_s(1 ^3D_1)$. The orthogonal partner of the $D_{s1}(2710)$ is expected to have a mass of about $2.66\sim 2.9$ GeV in quark models and a width of about $40\sim 60$ MeV in the $^3P_0$ model. The predicted decay properties turn out to be consistent with the BaBar's new data in both the orthogonal partner of the $D_{s1}(2710)$ and the $D_s(1 ^3D_3)$ interpretations for the $D_{sJ}(2860)$. The available experimental information is not enough to distinguish these two possibilities. The $E1$ radiative transitions of the $D_{s1}(2710)$ and $D_{sJ}(2860)$ are also studied. We tend to conclude that the $D_{s1}(2710)$ can be identified as a mixture of the $D_s(2 ^3S_1)$ and $D_s(1 ^3D_1)$, and the $D_{sJ}(2860)$ could be either the orthogonal partner of the $D_{s1}(2710)$ or the $D_s(1 ^3D_3)$. Further experimental information on the $D_{sJ}(2860)$ in the $D_sη$, $D^\ast_sη$, and $DK^\ast$ channels is needed.

Canonical interpretation of the $η_2(1870)$

We argue that the mass, production, total decay width, and decay pattern of the $η_2(1870)$ do not appear to contradict with the picture of it being the conventional $2 ^1D_2$ $q\bar{q}$ state. The possibility of the $η_2(1870)$ being a mixture of the conventional $q\bar{q}$ and the hybrid is also discussed.

On the nature of the $π_2(1880)

The strong decays of the $π_2(1880)$ as the $2 ^1D_2$ quark-antiquark state are investigated in the $^3P_0$ model and the flux-tube model, respectively. The results are similar in the two models. It is found that the decay patterns of the conventional $2 ^1D_2$ meson and the $2^{-+}$ light hybrid are very different, and the experimental evidence for the $π_2(1880)$ is consistent with it being the conventional $2 ^1D_2$ meson rather than the $2^{-+}$ light hybrid. The possibility of the $π_2(1880)$ being a mixture of the conventional $q\bar{q}$ and the hybrid is discussed.

Towards the assignment for the $4 ^1S_0$ meson nonet

The strong decays of the $π(2070)$, $η(2010)$, $η(2100)$, $η(2190)$, and $η(2225)$ as the $4 ^1S_0$ quark-antiquark states are investigated in the framework of the $^3P_0$ meson decay model. It is found that the $π(2070)$, $η(2100)$, and $η(2225)$ appear to be the convincing $4 ^1S_0$ $q\bar{q}$ states while the assignment of the $η(2010)$ and $η(2190)$ as the $4 ^1S_0$ isoscalar states is not favored by their widths. In the presence of the $π(2070)$, $η(2100)$, and $η(2225)$ being the members of the $4 ^1S_0$ meson nonet, the $4 ^1S_0$ kaon is phenomenologically determined to has a mass of about 2153 MeV. The width of this unobserved kaon is expected to be about 197 MeV in the $^3P_0$ decay model.

$X(1835)$ and $η(1760)$ observed by the BES Collaboration

With the assumption that the $X(1835)$ and $η(1760)$ recently observed by the BES Collaboration are the $3\,^1S_0$ meson states, the strong decays of these two states are investigated in the $^3P_0$ decay model. We find that the predicted total widths of the $X(1835)$ and $η(1760)$ can be reasonably reproduced with the $X(18350)-η(1760)$ mixing angle lying on the range from $-0.26$ to $+0.55$ radians. Further, the mixing angle of the $X(1835)$ and $η(1760)$ is phenomenologically determined to be about $-0.24$ radians in the presence of the $π(1800)$, $K(1830)$, $η(1760)$ and $X(1835)$ belonging to the $3\,^1S_0$ meson nonet. Our estimated mixing angle can naturally account for the widths of the $X(1835)$ and $η(1760)$, which shows that the assignment of the $X(1835)$ and $η(1760)$, together the $π(1800)$ and $K(1830)$ as the $3\,^1S_0$ $q\bar{q}$ members seems reasonable.

The $η(2225)$ observed by the BES Collaboration

In the framework of the $^3P_0$ meson decay model, the strong decays of the $3 ^1S_0$ and $4 ^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ states are investigated. It is found that in the presence of the initial state mass being 2.24 GeV, the total widths of the $3 ^1S_0$ and $4 ^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ states are about 438 MeV and 125 MeV, respectively. Also, when the initial state mass varies from 2220 to 2400 MeV, the total width of the $4 ^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ state varies from about 100 to 132 MeV, while the total width of the $3 ^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ state varies from about 400 to 594 MeV. A comparison of the predicted widths and the experimental result of $(0.19\pm 0.03^{+0.04}_{-0.06})$ GeV, the width of the $η(2225)$ with a mass of $(2.24^{+0.03+0.03}_{-0.02-0.02})$ GeV recently observed by the BES Collaboration in the radiative decay $J/ψ\toγϕϕ\toγK^+K^-K^0_SK^0_L$, suggests that it would be very difficult to identify the $η(2225)$ as the $3 ^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ state, and the $η(2225)$ seams a good candidate for the $4 ^1S_0$ $s\bar{s}$ state.

Understanding masses of $c\bar{s}$ states in Regge phenomenology

In the framework of Regge phenomenology, masses of the charmed states $c\bar{q} (q=u,d,s)$ lying on the $1^3S_1$-like trajectories are estimated. The overall agreement between our estimated masses and the recent predictions given by modified quark models[hep-ph/0605019, hep-ph/0608011, hep-ph/0608139] is good. Masses of the observed charmed states $D_{s0}(2317)$, $D_{sJ}(2860)$ and $D_{sJ}(2690)$/$D_{sJ}(2700)$ can be reasonably reproduced in the picture of these charmed states as simple quark-antiquark configurations. We therefore suggest the $D_{s0}(2317)$ can be identified as the $c\bar{s}(1^3P_0)$ states. The possible assignments of the $D_{sJ}(2860)$ and $D_{sJ}(2690)$/ $D_{sJ}(2700)$ are discussed.

Strange axial-vector mesons mixing angle

The masses of the $K_1(^3P_1)$ and $K_1(^1P_1)$ are considered in a nonrelativistic constituent quark model, and the absolute value of the $K_1(^3P_1)-K_1(^1P_1)$ mixing angle is determined to be about $59.29^\circ$. Comparison of the theoretical predictions on the strong decay widths of the $K_1(1270)$ and $K_1(1400)$ in the $^3P_0$ decay model as well as the production ratio of these two states in the $τ$ decay between the available experimental data strongly favors that the $K_1(^3P_1)-K_1(^1P_1)$ mixing angle is about $+59.29^\circ$.

Regarding the axial-vector mesons

The implications of the $f_1(1285)-f_1(1420)$ mixing for the $K_1(^3P_1)-K_1(^1P_1)$ mixing angle is investigated. Based on the $f_1(1285)-f_1(1420)$ mixing angle $\sim 50^\circ$ suggested from the analysis for a substantial body of data concerning the $f_1(1420)$ and $f_1(1285)$, the masses of the $K_1(^3P_1)$ and $K_1(^1P_1)$ are determined to be $\sim 1307.35\pm 0.63$ MeV and $1370.03\pm 9.69$ MeV, respectively, which therefore suggests that the $K_1(^3P_1)-K_1(^1P_1)$ mixing angle is about $\pm (59.55\pm 2.81)^\circ$. Also, it is found that the mass of the $h^\prime_1(^1P_1)$ (mostly of $s\bar{s}$) state is about $1495.18\pm 8.82$ MeV. Comparison of the predicted results and the available experimental information of the $h_1(1380)$ shows that without further confirmation on the $h_1(1380)$, the assignment of the $h_1(1380)$ as the $s\bar{s}$ member of the $^1P_1$ meson nonet may be premature.

A possible assignment for the ground scalar meson nonet

Based on the main assumption that the $a_0(980)$ and $D^\ast_{sJ}(2317)$ belong to the $1 ^3P_0$ $q\bar{q}$ multiplet, in the framework of Regge phenomenology and meson-meson mixing, it is suggested that the $a_0(980)$, $K^\ast_0(1052)$, $f_0(1099)$ and $f_0(530)$ constitute the ground scalar meson nonet, and that the $f_0(1099)$ is composed mostly of $s\bar{s}$ while the $f_0(530)$ is mainly $u\bar{u}+d\bar{d}$. It is supposed that these states would likely correspond to the observed scalar states $a_0(980)$, $κ(900)$, $f_0(980)$ and $f_0(600)/σ$, respectively. The agreement between the present findings and those given by other different approaches is satisfactory.

Meson spectrum in Regge phenomenology

Under the assumption that both light and heavy quarkonia populate approximately linear Regge trajectories with the requirements of additivity of intercepts and inverse slopes, the masses of different meson multiplets are estimated. The predictions derived from the quasi-linear Regge trajectories are in reasonable agreement with those given by many other references.

On the mass relation of a meson nonet

It is pointed out that the omission of the effects of the transition between quarkonia or the assumption that the transition between quarkonia is flavor-independent would result in the inconsistent results for the pseudoscalar meson nonet. It is emphasized that the mass relation of the non-ideal mixing meson nonets should incorporate the effects of the flavor-dependent transition between quarkonia. The new mass relations of a meson nonet are presented.

Effects of Flavor-dependent $q\bar{q}$ Annihilation on the Mixing Angle of the Isoscalar Octet-Singlet and Schwinger's Nonet Mass Formula

By incorporating the flavor-dependent quark-antiquark annihilation amplitude into the mass-squared matrix describing the mixing of the isoscalar states of a meson nonet, the new version of Schwinger's nonet mass formula which holds with a high accuracy for the $0^{-+}$, $1^{--}$, $2^{++}$, $2^{-+}$ and $3^{--}$ nonets is derived and the mixing angle of isoscalar octet-singlet for these nonets is obtained. In particular, the mixing angle of isoscalar octet-singlet for pseudoscalar nonet is determined to take the value of $-12.92^\circ$, which is in agreement with the value of $-13^\circ\sim-17^\circ$ deduced from a rather exhaustive and up-to-date analysis of data. It is also pointed out that the omission of the flavor-dependent $q\bar{q}$ annihilation effect might be a factor resulting in the invalidity of Schwinger's original nonet mass formula for pseudoscalar nonet.

Properties of the scalar mesons $f_0(1370)$, $f_0(1500)$ and $f_0(1710)$

In the three-state mixing framework, considering the possible glueball components of $η$ and $η^\prime$, we investigate the hadronic decays of $f_0(1370)$, $f_0(1500)$ and $f_0(1710)$ into two pseudoscalar mesons. The quarkonia-glueball content of the three states is determined from the fit to the new data presented by the WA102 Collaboration. We find that these data are insensitive to the possible glueball components of $η$ and $η^\prime$. Furthermore, we discuss some properties of the mass matrix describing the mixing of the isoscalar scalar mesons.

Properties of the tensor mesons $f_2(1270)$ and $f^\prime_2(1525)$

In the $f_2(1270)-f^\prime_2(1525)$ mixing framework, the isoscalar singlet-octet mixing angle for 1$^3P_2$ tensor nonet is determined to be the value of $27.5^\circ$ and the decays of the two states are investigated. Comparing the predicted results of the decays of the two states with the available experimental data, we find that the predicted results are in good agreement with the experimental data, which shows that the $f_2(1270)$ and $f^\prime_2(1525)$ wave functions don't need other components such as glueballs or the 2 $^3P_2$,3 $^3P_2$,...$q\bar{q}$.

Modification of Kawai model about the mixing of the pseudoscalar mesons

The Kawai model describing the glueball-quarkonia mixing is modified. The mixing of $η$, $η^\prime$ and $η(1410)$ is re-investigated based on the modified Kawai model. The glueball-quarkonia content of the three states is determined from a fit to the data of the electromagnetic decays involving $η$, $η^\prime$. Some predictions about the electromagnetic decays involving $η(1410)$ are presented.

On the Mixing of the Scalar Mesons $f_0(1370)$, $f_0(1500)$ and $f_0(1710)$

Based on a $3\times3$ mass matrix describing the mixing of the scalar states $f_0(1370)$, $f_0(1500)$ and $f_0(1710)$, the hadronic decays of the three states are investigated. Taking into account the two possible assumptions concerning the mass level order of the bare states $|N>=|u\bar{u}+d\bar{d}>/\sqrt{2}$, $|S>=|s\bar{s}>$ and $|G>=|gg>$ in the scalar sector, $M_G > M_S > M_N$ and $M_G > M_N > M_S$, we obtain the glueball-quarkonia content of the three states by solving the unlinear equations. Some predictions about the decays of the three states in two cases are presented, which can provide a stringent consistency check of the two assumptions.

A proposal on the search for the hybrid with $I^G(J^{PC})=1^-(1^{-+})$ in the process $J/ψ\toρωππ$ at upgraded BEPC/BES

The moment expressions for the boson resonances X with spin-parity 0++, 1-+, 1++, and 2++ possibly produced in the process $J/ψ\toρX$, $X\to b_1(1235)π$, $b_1\to ωπ$ are given in terms of the generalized moment analysis method. The 1-+ resonance can be distinguished from other resonances by means of these moments except for some rather special cases. The suggestion that the search for the 1-+ hybrid can be performed in the above decay channel at upgraded BEPC/BES is presented.
