Scarf complexes of connected and path ideals

The $t$-connected ideal of a graph $G$ is generated by all connected induced subgraphs of $G$ with $t$ vertices. When $t = 2$, this coincides with the usual edge ideal of the graph. Following the work of Faridi et al., we give a classification of the graphs whose $t$-connected ideals are minimally resolved by their Scarf complex. We also consider the $t$-path ideal of a graph $G$ which is the ideal generated by all paths of length $t$ in $G$. In this case, we are able to give a classification of the same type for paths of length $t = 4$.

Homological invariants of edge ideals of weighted oriented graphs

We determine all possible triples of depth, dimension, and regularity of edge ideals of weighted oriented graphs with a fixed number of vertices. Also, we compute all the possible Betti table sizes of edge ideals of weighted oriented trees and bipartite~graphs with a fixed number of vertices.

Popular differences in primes along fractional powers

We prove that $\mathop{\mathbb{E}}_{m \leq M} \mathop{\mathbb{E}}_{n \leq N} \Lambda(n) \Lambda\bigl(n + \lfloor m^c \rfloor\bigr) = 1 + \rm{O}(\log^{2 - Bc} N)$, where $c > 2$ is a non-integer, $B \geq 3/c$, and $M$ is of order $N^{1/c} \log^{-B} N$. As a combinatorial consequence, we obtain that the primes contain infinitely many pairs whose difference belongs to the Piatetski-Shapiro sequence $\bigl\{\lfloor m^c \rfloor \colon m \in \mathbb{N} \bigr\}$ for any non-integer $c > 2$.
