Generalized Fractional Operators on Time Scales with Application to Dynamic Equations

We introduce more general concepts of Riemann-Liouville fractional integral and derivative on time scales, of a function with respect to another function. Sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of solution to an initial value problem described by generalized fractional order differential equations on time scales are proved.

Approximate Controllability of Impulsive Non-local Non-linear Fractional Dynamical Systems and Optimal Control

We establish existence, approximate controllability and optimal control of a class of impulsive non-local non-linear fractional dynamical systems in Banach spaces. We use fractional calculus, sectorial operators and Krasnoselskii fixed point theorems for the main results. Approximate controllability results are discussed with respect to the inhomogeneous non-linear part. Moreover, we prove existence results of optimal pairs of corresponding fractional control systems with a Bolza cost functional.

Optimal Impulse Control of Dynamical Systems

Using the tools of the Markov Decision Processes, we justify the dynamic programming approach to the optimal impulse control of deterministic dynamical systems. We prove the equivalence of the integral and differential forms of the optimality equation. The theory is illustrated by an example from mathematical epidemiology. The developed methods can be also useful for the study of piecewise deterministic Markov processes.

Parameter Estimation, Sensitivity Analysis and Optimal Control of a Periodic Epidemic Model with Application to HRSV in Florida

A state wide Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (HRSV) surveillance system was implemented in Florida in 1999 to support clinical decision-making for prophylaxis of premature infants. The research presented in this paper addresses the problem of fitting real data collected by the Florida HRSV surveillance system by using a periodic SEIRS mathematical model. A sensitivity and cost-effectiveness analysis of the model is done and an optimal control problem is formulated and solved with treatment as the control variable.

Novel results on Hermite-Hadamard kind inequalities for $η$-convex functions by means of $(k,r)$-fractional integral operators

We establish new integral inequalities of Hermite-Hadamard type for the recent class of $η$-convex functions. This is done via generalized $(k,r)$-Riemann-Liouville fractional integral operators. Our results generalize some known theorems in the literature. By choosing different values for the parameters $k$ and $r$, one obtains interesting new results.

Analysis and optimal control of an intracellular delayed HIV model with CTL immune response

A delayed model describing the dynamics of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) with CTL (Cytotoxic T Lymphocytes) immune response is investigated. The model includes four nonlinear differential equations describing the evolution of uninfected, infected, free HIV viruses, and CTL immune response cells. It includes also intracellular delay and two treatments (two controls). While the aim of first treatment consists to block the viral proliferation, the role of the second is to prevent new infections. Firstly, we prove the well-posedness of the problem by establishing some positivity and boundedness results. Next, we give some conditions that insure the local asymptotic stability of the endemic and disease-free equilibria. Finally, an optimal control problem, associated with the intracellular delayed HIV model with CTL immune response, is posed and investigated. The problem is shown to have an unique solution, which is characterized via Pontryagin's minimum principle for problems with delays. Numerical simulations are performed, confirming stability of the disease-free and endemic equilibria and illustrating the effectiveness of the two incorporated treatments via optimal control.

Uniform asymptotic stability of a fractional tuberculosis model

We propose a Caputo type fractional-order mathematical model for the transmission dynamics of tuberculosis (TB). Uniform asymptotic stability of the unique endemic equilibrium of the fractional-order TB model is proved, for any $α\in (0, 1)$. Numerical simulations for the stability of the endemic equilibrium are provided.

The fuzzy Henstock-Kurzweil delta integral on time scales

We investigate properties of the fuzzy Henstock-Kurzweil delta integral (shortly, FHK $Δ$-integral) on time scales, and obtain two necessary and sufficient conditions for FHK $Δ$-integrability. The concept of uniformly FHK $Δ$-integrability is introduced. Under this concept, we obtain a uniformly integrability convergence theorem. Finally, we prove monotone and dominated convergence theorems for the FHK $Δ$-integral.

Enlarged Controllability of Riemann-Liouville Fractional Differential Equations

We investigate exact enlarged controllability for time fractional diffusion systems of Riemann-Liouville type. The Hilbert uniqueness method is used to prove exact enlarged controllability for both cases of zone and pointwise actuators. A penalization method is given and the minimum energy control is characterized.

Modeling and optimal control of HIV/AIDS prevention through PrEP

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) consists in the use of an antiretroviral medication to prevent the acquisition of HIV infection by uninfected individuals and has recently demonstrated to be highly efficacious for HIV prevention. We propose a new epidemiological model for HIV/AIDS transmission including PrEP. Existence, uniqueness and global stability of the disease free and endemic equilibriums are proved. The model with no PrEP is calibrated with the cumulative cases of infection by HIV and AIDS reported in Cape Verde from 1987 to 2014, showing that it predicts well such reality. An optimal control problem with a mixed state control constraint is then proposed and analyzed, where the control function represents the PrEP strategy and the mixed constraint models the fact that, due to PrEP costs, epidemic context and program coverage, the number of individuals under PrEP is limited at each instant of time. The objective is to determine the PrEP strategy that satisfies the mixed state control constraint and minimizes the number of individuals with pre-AIDS HIV-infection as well as the costs associated with PrEP. The optimal control problem is studied analytically. Through numerical simulations, we demonstrate that PrEP reduces HIV transmission significantly.

A survey on fuzzy fractional differential and optimal control nonlocal evolution equations

We survey some representative results on fuzzy fractional differential equations, controllability, approximate controllability, optimal control, and optimal feedback control for several different kinds of fractional evolution equations. Optimality and relaxation of multiple control problems, described by nonlinear fractional differential equations with nonlocal control conditions in Banach spaces, are considered.

Optimal control of a delayed HIV model

We propose a model for the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection with intracellular delay and prove the local asymptotical stability of the equilibrium points. Then we introduce a control function representing the efficiency of reverse transcriptase inhibitors and consider the pharmacological delay associated to the control. Finally, we propose and analyze an optimal control problem with state and control delays. Through numerical simulations, extremal solutions are proposed for minimization of the virus concentration and treatment costs.

Banking risk as an epidemiological model: an optimal control approach

The process of contagiousness spread modelling is well-known in epidemiology. However, the application of spread modelling to banking market is quite recent. In this work, we present a system of ordinary differential equations, simulating data from the largest European banks. Then, an optimal control problem is formulated in order to study the impact of a possible measure of the Central Bank in the economy. The proposed approach enables qualitative specifications of contagion in banking obtainment and an adequate analysis and prognosis within the financial sector development and macroeconomic as a whole. We show that our model describes well the reality of the largest European banks. Simulations were done using MATLAB and BOCOP optimal control solver, and the main results are taken for three distinct scenarios.
