A corollary of the b-function lemma

Let $X$ be an algebraic variety, $f$ a regular function, $j:U\subset X$ the complement to the locus of vanishing of $f$, and $M$ a holonomic D-module on $U$. Consider the $D_U[s]$-module $M\otimes "f^s"$. The goal of this note is to describe all $D_X[s]$-submodules $N\subset j_*(M\otimes "f^s")$ such that $j^*(N)\simeq M\otimes "f^s"$.

Chiral Koszul duality

We extend the theory of chiral and factorization algebras, developed for curves by Beilinson and Drinfeld in \cite{bd}, to higher-dimensional varieties. This extension entails the development of the homotopy theory of chiral and factorization structures, in a sense analogous to Quillen's homotopy theory of differential graded Lie algebras. We prove the equivalence of higher-dimensional chiral and factorization algebras by embedding factorization algebras into a larger category of chiral commutative coalgebras, then realizing this interrelation as a chiral form of Koszul duality. We apply these techniques to rederive some fundamental results of \cite{bd} on chiral enveloping algebras of $\star$-Lie algebras.

D-modules on the affine flag variety and representations of affine Kac-Moody algebras

We study the connection between the category of modules over the affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra at the critical level, and the category of D-modules on the affine flag scheme G((t))/I, where I is the Iwahori subgroup. We prove a localization-type result, which establishes an equivalence between certain subcategories on both sides. We also establish an equivalence between a certain subcategory of Kac-Moody modules, and the category of quasi-coherent sheaves on the scheme of Miura opers for the Langlands dual group, thereby proving a conjecture of [FG2].

Twisted Whittaker model and factorizable sheaves

Let G be a reductive group. The geometric Satake equivalence realized the category of representations of the Langlands dual group ^LG in terms of spherical perverse sheaves (or D-modules) on the affine Grassmannian Gr_G=G((t))/G[[t]] of the original group G. In the present paper we perform a first step in realizing the category of representations of the quantum group corresponding to ^LG in terms of the geometry of Gr_G. The idea of the construction belongs to Jacob Lurie.

Weyl modules and opers without monodromy

We prove that the algebra of endomorphisms of a Weyl module of critical level is isomorphic to the algebra of functions on the space of monodromy-free opers on the disc with regular singularity and residue determined by the highest weight of the Weyl module. This result may be used to test the local geometric Langlands correspondence proposed in our earlier work arXiv:math/0508382.

Local Geometric Langlands Correspondence: the Spherical Case

A module over an affine Kac--Moody algebra g^ is called spherical if the action of the Lie subalgebra g[[t]] on it integrates to an algebraic action of the corresponding group G[[t]]. Consider the category of spherical g^-modules of critical level. In this paper we prove that this category is equivalent to the category of quasi-coherent sheaves on the ind-scheme of opers on the punctured disc which are unramified as local systems. This result is a categorical version of the well-known description of spherical vectors in representations of groups over local non-archimedian fields. It may be viewed as a special case of the local geometric Langlands correspondence proposed in arXiv:math/0508382.

Fusion and convolution: applications to affine Kac-Moody algebras at the critical level

Let g be a semi-simple Lie algebra, and let g^ be the corresponding affine Kac-Moody algebra. Consider the category of g^-modules at the critical level, on which the action of the Iwahori subalgebra integrates to algebraic action of the Iwahori subgroup I. We study the action on this category of the convolution functors with the "central" sheaves on the affine flag scheme G((t))/I. We show that each object of our category is an "eigen-module" with respect to these functors. In order to prove this, we use the fusion product of modules over the affine Kac-Moody algebra.

Relation between two geometrically defined bases in representations of $GL_n$

Let $V$ be an irreducible representation of group $GL_n({\mathbb C})$, which appears as a submodule in $({\mathbb C}^n)^{\otimes d}$, where ${\mathbb C}^n$ is the tautological $n$-dimensional representation of $GL_n$, and $d$ is a non-negative integer. On the one hand, following refs [Gi] and [BG] one can produce a basis in $V$ using irreducible components of Sringer fibers over a nilpotent matrix in ${\mathfrak {gl}}_d$, whose Jordan blocks correspond to the highest weight of $V$. On the other hand, one can produce a basis in $V$ by Mirković-Vilonen cycles, a construction that works for an arbitrary reductive group $G$. In this note we prove that the resulting to bases coincide.

Local geometric Langlands correspondence and affine Kac-Moody algebras

By a local geometric Langlands correspondence for a complex reductive group G we understand a construction which assigns to a local system on the punctured disc for the Langlands dual group of G, a category equipped with an action of the formal loop group G((t)). We propose a conjectural description of these categories as categories of representations of the corresponding affine Kac-Moody algebra of critical level, and, in some cases, as categories of D-modules on the ind-schemes G((t))/K. We describe in detail these categories and interrelations between them and provide supporting evidence for our conjectures. In particular, we prove that a certain quotient category of representations of critical level is equivalent to the category of quasicoherent sheaves on a thickening of the scheme of nilpotent opers associated to the Langlands dual group.

On de Jong's conjecture

Let $X$ be a smooth projective curve over a finite field $F_q$. Let $ρ$ be a continuous representation $π(X)\to GL_n(F)$, where $F=F_l((t))$ with $F_l$ being another finite field of order prime to $q$. Assume that $ρ|_{π(\bar{X})}$ is irreducible. De Jong's conjecture says that in this case $ρ(π(\bar{X}))$ is finite. As was shown in the original paper of de Jong, this conjecture follows from an existence of an $F$-valued automorphic form corresponding to $ρ$ is the sense of Langlands. The latter follows, in turn, from a version of the Geometric Langlands conjecture. In this paper we sketch a proof of the required version of the geometric conjecture, assuming that $char(F)\neq 2$, thereby proving de Jong's conjecture in this case.

Localization of g^-modules on the affine Grassmannian

We consider the category of modules over the affine Kac-Moody algebra g^ of critical level with regular central character. In our previous paper math.RT/0508382 we conjectured that this category is equivalent to the category of Hecke eigen-D-modules on the affine Grassmannian G((t))/G[[t]]. This conjecture was motivated by our proposal for a local geometric Langlands correspondence. In this paper we prove this conjecture for the corresponding I^0 equivariant categories, where I^0 is the radical of the Iwahori subgroup of G((t)). Our result may be viewed as an affine analogue of the equivalence of categories of g-modules and D-modules on the flag variety G/B, due to Beilinson-Bernstein and Brylinski-Kashiwara.

Algebraic groups over a 2-dimensional local field: some further constructions

In math.RT/0302174 we developed a framework to study representations of groups of the form $G((t))$, where $G$ is an algebraic group over a local field $K$. The main feature of this theory is that natural representations of groups of this kind are not on vector spaces, but rather on pro-vector spaces. In this paper we present some further constructions related to this theory. The main results include: 1) General theorems insuring representability of covariant functors, 2) Study of the functor of semi-invariants, which is an analog of the functor of semi-infinite cohomology for infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, 3) Construction of representations from the moduli space of $G$-bundles on algebraic curve over $K$.

Algebraic groups over a 2-dimensional local field: irreducibility of certain induced representations

Let $G$ be a split reductive group over a local field $\bK$, and let $G((t))$ be the corresponding loop group. In \cite{GK} we have introduced the notion of a representation of (the group of $\bK$-points) of $G((t))$ on a pro-vector space. In addition, we have defined an induction procedure, which produced $G((t))$-representations from usual smooth representations of $G$. We have conjectured that the induction of a cuspidal irreducible representation of $G$ is irreducible. In this paper we prove this conjecture for $G=SL_2$.

The notion of category over an algebraic stack

The goal of this note is to spell out the (apparently well-known and intuitively clear) notion of abelian category over an algebraic stack. In the future we will discuss the (much less evident) notion, when instead of an abelian category one considers a triangulated one.

Uhlenbeck spaces for $A^2$ and affine Lie algebra $\hat{sl}_n$

We introduce an Uhlenbeck closure of the space of based maps from projective line to the Kashiwara flag scheme of an untwisted affine Lie algebra. For the algebra $\hat{sl}_n$ this space of based maps is isomorphic to the moduli space of locally free parabolic sheaves on $P^1\times P^1$ trivialized at infinity. The Uhlenbeck closure admits a resolution of singularities: the moduli space of torsion free parabolic sheaves on $P^1\times P^1$ trivialized at infinity. We compute the Intersection Cohomology sheaf of the Uhlenbeck space using this resolution of singularities. The moduli spaces of parabolic sheaves of various degrees are connected by certain Hecke correspondences. We prove that these correspondences define an action of $\hat{sl}_n$ in the cohomology of the above moduli spaces.

Quantum integrable systems and differential Galois theory

The purpose of this paper is to connect two subjects: the theory of quantum integrable systems (complete commutative rings of differential operators), and differential Galois theory. We define quantum completely integrable systems (QCIS), algebraically integrable QCIS, the differential Galois group of a QCIS. We show that the differential Galois group is always reductive and that a QCIS is algebraically integrable if and only if its differential Galois group is commutative. In particular, we show that a differential operator L in one variable is algebraic in the sense of Krichever (i.e. finite-zone) if and only if the differential Galois group of the differential equation Lf=af is commutative for a generic number a. As a by-product, we obtain a proof of the Veselov-Chalyh conjecture on the algebraic integrability of the elliptic Calogero-Moser system.

Construction of central elements in the affine Hecke algebra via nearby cycles

Let $G$ be a reductive group, let $Gr=G((t))/G[[t]]$ be the corresponding affine Grassmannian and let $Fl=G((t))/I$ be the affine flag variety. We construct, following an idea of Belinson, a 1-parametric deformation of the product $Gr\times G/B$ to $Fl$. We use this construction to produce perverse sheaves on $Fl$ which are central with respect to the convolution product from spherical perverse sheaves on $Gr$.

Crystals via the affine Grassmannian

Let $G$ be a connected reductive group over $\CC$ and let $G^{\vee}$ be the Langlands dual group. Crystals for $G^{\vee}$ were introduced by Kashiwara as certain ``combinatorial skeletons'' of finite-dimensional representations of $G^{\vee}$. For every dominant integral weight of $G^{\vee}$ Kashiwara constructed a canonical crystal. Other (independent) constructions of those crystals were given by Lusztig and Littelmann. It was also shown by Kashiwara and Joseph that the above family of crystals is unique if certain reasonable conditions are imposed. The purpose of this paper is to give another (rather simple) construction of these crystals using the geometry of the affine Grassmannian $\calG_G=G(\calK)/G(\calO)$ of the group $G$, where $\calK=\CC((t))$ is the field of Laurent power series and $\calO=\CC[[t]]$ is the ring of Taylor series. We check that the crystals we construct satisfy the conditions of the uniqueness theorem mentioned above, which shows that our crystals coincide with those constructed in {\it loc. cit}. It would be interesting to find these isomorphisms directly (cf., however, \cite{Lus3}).
