Resolution-Consistent Greedy Neural Approximation on Infinite-Dimensional Spaces

We develop constructive approximation and learning guarantees for shallow neural models with infinite-dimensional inputs observed through finitely many coordinates. The analysis is based on a parameter-normalized neural dictionary and its associated weighted variation class. Within this class, the approximation error separates into a distribution-dependent coordinate-truncation term and a greedy finite-width term. For empirical regression, a fully-corrective greedy procedure yields population guarantees whose statistical complexity is uniform in the retained input resolution. The same framework extends to Hilbert-valued responses without an explicit dependence on the output dimension. The dimension-free statements are statistical, not computational: selecting a new neuron still requires solving a nonconvex parameter-search problem. The quasi-Polish construction underlying recent infinite-dimensional universal approximation results provides a motivating example, and synthetic experiments illustrate the predicted resolution, width, and sample-size regimes.

Finite approximations of countable metric and ultrametric compacta

Adapting a homotopy reconstruction theorem for general metric compacta, we show that every countable metric or ultrametric compact space can be topologically reconstructed as the inverse limit of a sequence of finite $T_0$ spaces which are finer approximations of the space.

Hausdorff reflection preserves shape

We show that the Hausdorff reflection preserves the shape type of spaces. Some examples as well as the applicability in inverse limits of finite spaces are presented.

A universal space for finite topological spaces

We find universal spaces for Alexandroff and finite spaces and explore some of its topological properties as well as their description as inverse limits of finite spaces and Alexandroff extensions. They can be used as a natural environment to describe shape properties of compact metric spaces.

On a finite type Multivalued Shape

We briefly review the origins and development of Borsuk's Theory of Shapes and the Multivalued Shape of Sanjurjo. We use a construction over metric compacta using hyperspaces to define a finite type version.

Polyhedral expansions of compacta associated to finite approximations

This paper introduces some inverse sequences of different polyhedra all based on finite approximations of a compact metric space so they can be used to capture the shape type of the original space. It is shown that they are HPol-expansions, proving the so-called General Principle. We use these sequences to compute explicitly some inverse persistent homology groups of a space and measure its errors in the approximation process.

A functional characterization of almost greedy and partially greedy bases

In 2003, S. J. Dilworth et al. ([8]) introduced the notion of almost-greedy (resp. partially-greedy) bases. These bases were characterized in terms of quasi-greediness and democracy (resp. conservativeness). In this paper we will show a new functional characterization of these type of bases in general Banach spaces following the spirit of the characterization of greediness proved in [5].
