Low-energy Chern-Simons-Proca theory

Some time ago, the infrared limit of the Abelian Chern-Simons-Proca theory was investigated. In this letter, we show how the Chern-Simons-Proca theory can emerge as an effective low energy theory. Our result is obtained by means of a procedure that takes into account the proliferation, or dilution, of topological defects presented in the system.

Infrared propagators of Yang-Mills-Chern-Simons theories in linear covariant gauges

Recent works have explored non-perturbative effects due to the existence of (infinitesimal) Gribov copies in Yang-Mills-Chern-Simons theories in three Euclidean dimensions. In particular, the removal of such copies modify the gauge field propagator by a self-consistent dynamically generated mass parameter, the Gribov parameter. Due to the interplay with the topological mass introduced by the Chern-Simons term, the propagator features a non-trivial set of phases with poles of different nature, leading to the possible interpretation of a confinfing to deconfining phase transition. Inhere, we restore the BRST symmetry which is softly broken by the elimination of gauge copies and provide a BRST-invariant discussion of such a transition. In order to make clear all physical statements, we deal with linear covariant gauges which contain a gauge parameter and therefore allow for an explicit check of gauge parameter independence of physical results. We also discuss the generation of condensates due to the infrared relevance of infinitesimal Gribov copies.

Kinklike structures in an arcsin real scalar dynamics

In this paper, we analyze kink-like analytical solutions in a real scalar theory with an arcsin dynamics inspired by the arcsin electrodynamics presented in Kruglov (2015). This analysis is done by means of the first-order formalism. This formalism provides a framework where the equations of motion can be simplified by preserving the linear stability of the theory. In this work, the deformation procedure is implemented with the aim of finding exact solutions in systems with generalized dynamics. Along with the paper, we explore how the first-order formalism is implemented in the arcsin kinetics and how such a term influences the kink-like solutions. As a part of the result of our paper, we show that the kink-like solutions are similar to the ones obtained in the standard scalar kinetic theory. We also show that the extra parameter, that controls the non-linearities of the model, plays an essential role in the energy densities and stability potentials. These quantities vary according to this parameter. The goals here are to show how the first-order framework is implemented in this arcsin scenario and to present the analytical kink-like solutions that can be found by means of the first-order framework and deformation method.

Multi-component scalar fields and the complete factorization of its equations of motion

In the paper by Bazeia D. et al., EPL, 119 (2017) 61002, the authors demonstrate the equivalence between the second-order differential equation of motion and a family of first-order differential equations of Bogomolnyi type for the cases of single real and complex scalar field theories with non-canonical dynamics. The goal of this paper is to demonstrate that this equivalence is also valid for a more general classes of real scalar field models. We start the paper by demonstrating the equivalence in a single real scalar model. The first goal is to generalize the equivalence presented in papers by Bazeia et al. to a single real scalar field model without a specific form for its Lagrangian. The second goal is to use the setup presented in the first demonstration to show that this equivalence can be achieved also in a real multi-component scalar field model again without a specific form for its Lagrangian. The main goal of this paper is to show that this equivalence can be achieved in real scalar field scenarios that can be standard, or non-standard, with single, or multi-component, scalar fields.

Vanishing DC holographic conductivity from a magnetic monopole condensate

We show how to obtain a vanishing DC conductivity in 3-dimensional strongly coupled QFT's using a massive 2-form field in the bulk that satisfies a special kind of boundary condition. The real and imaginary parts of the AC conductivity are evaluated in this holographic setup and we show that the DC conductivity identically vanishes even for an arbitrarily small (though nonzero) value of the 2-form mass in the bulk. We identify the bulk action of the massive 2-form with an effective theory describing a phase in which magnetic monopoles have condensed in the bulk. Our results indicate that a condensate of magnetic monopoles in a 4-dimensional bulk leads to a vanishing DC holographic conductivity in 3-dimensional strongly coupled QFT's.
