Recoil Geometry Unmasks Gluon Saturation in Forward $Z^0$ Production

Gluon saturation produces characteristic transverse-momentum broadening in nuclei, but QCD radiation largely washes out this signature. We show that fiducial recoil subtraction turns detector acceptance into a transverse-momentum projector that unmasks the broadening in forward $Z^0$ production. Subtracting the hadronic recoil measured in a chosen rapidity interval from the boson transverse momentum defines a residual momentum. At leading power, the radiative recoil in this interval cancels, while the residual momentum retains sensitivity to the small-$x$ nuclear field. Combining a CGC description of the small-$x$ target with soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) resummation for finite rapidity coverage, we find that a benchmark rapidity coverage $|\eta^{\rm lab}|<2.5$ lowers the effective hard scale from $M_Z\simeq 91.2$ GeV to about $7.5~\mathrm{GeV}$ of the Sudakov evolution. Increasing the saturation scale broadens the residual-momentum distribution and weakens recoil alignment, whereas wider coverage makes the proton--nucleus separation clearer in both observables. Detector geometry thus provides tunable control over perturbative recoil, enabling a probe of nonlinear small-$x$ QCD.

Tracing Vacuum Hadronization with Conserved Currents

We show that color triality constrains the nonperturbative states that screen a Wilson-line endpoint, allowing the joint flows of net electric charge, baryon number, and strangeness to probe QCD vacuum hadronization. Whether evaluated from resolved hadrons in a jet initiated by a quark of flavor $f$ or from the corresponding charge correlators, these flows satisfy the Gell-Mann--Nishijima relation $\langle Q_{\rm flow}\rangle_f \simeq I_{3,f} +\frac{1}{2}\left( \langle S_{\rm flow}\rangle_f +\langle B_{\rm flow}\rangle_f \right)$, where $I_{3,f}$ is the third component of the initiating-quark isospin. The net jet baryon number, $\langle B_{\rm flow}\rangle_f\simeq \frac{r_{qq}}{1+r_{qq}}$, directly probes the relative probability of a diquark--antidiquark vacuum excitation, with $r_{qq}$ the diquark-to-quark production ratio. Thus, for $r_{qq}\ll1$, the baryon number carried by the jet is substantially suppressed relative to the initiating-quark value $B_f=1/3$. Likewise, the strange-to-light pair-production ratio, defined by $u\bar u:d\bar d:s\bar s=1:1:r_s$, is encoded in the measured jet strangeness $\langle S_{\rm flow}\rangle_f \simeq S_f+\frac{3r_s}{2+r_s} \left(\frac{1}{3}- \langle B_{\rm flow}\rangle_f\right)$, predicting a nonzero mean net strangeness even in $u$- and $d$-initiated jets. The conserved-current moments appearing in these relations are independent of the renormalization scale. Their simultaneous measurement therefore provides a direct, flavor-resolved probe of vacuum pair production and quantum-number transport during hadronization.

Transverse Charge Distribution as a Probe of Nucleon Transversity

We introduce the transverse charge distribution as a spin-sensitive charge-flow probe for fragmentation and nucleon tomography. By measuring the angular distribution of net electric charge around a fragmenting quark, this observable relies entirely on the tracking of charged-particle directions and charge signs, strictly bypassing the need for calorimetric energy measurements. At leading twist, the distribution decomposes into an unpolarized charge monopole and a chiral-odd transverse charge dipole. We derive the operator product expansion of these distributions onto charge-weighted collinear moments: a charge monopole and a charge dipole governed by the Collins effect and couples directly to transversity. Applying this formalism to transversely polarized $p^\uparrow p$ collisions at RHIC, we show that charge weighting suppresses the unpolarized monopole background and causes the spin-dependent dipoles from oppositely charged hadrons to add coherently. This coherence strongly enhances the resulting azimuthal asymmetries, establishing a theoretically clean and experimentally precise track-only avenue for extracting transversity.

Azimuthal decorrelation in diffractive dijet production

We calculate the azimuthal angular decorrelation of diffractive dijets in ultra-peripheral heavy-ion, $ep$, and $eA$ collisions to probe non-perturbative diffractive transverse momentum-dependent distributions. Focusing on the dominant semi-inclusive channel with an unobserved semi-hard gluon, we perform an all-order resummation of soft gluon emissions for the transverse energy-energy correlator observable, accounting for both initial and final state radiation. We also analyze heavy-quark pair production and demonstrate the sensitivity of the decorrelation to the jet axis definition. Finally, we provide numerical predictions for relevant kinematics at LHC UPCs, HERA, and the future EIC. Our results demonstrate that the acoplanarity of diffractive dijet production could serve as a promising probe of diffractive transverse momentum-dependent distributions.

Nested-GPT for variable-multiplicity parton showers: A case study in the resummation of non-global logarithms

We introduce Nested-GPT, a hierarchical autoregressive Transformer architecture for simulating the variable-multiplicity parton-shower histories. As a controlled benchmark, we study the leading-logarithmic resummation of non-global logarithms in the large-$N_c$ limit, utilizing a stochastic Monte Carlo dipole shower to generate reference training data. We systematically evaluate Nested-GPT against a Transformer flow-matching baseline. The flow-matching framework successfully parameterizes the joint distribution of emission kinematics at fixed multiplicity. Its phase-space representation, however, requires the final number of emissions to be specified externally rather than generated dynamically. Conversely, Nested-GPT strictly enforces the ordered Markovian branching structure, predicting emissions sequentially and dynamically evaluating a learned sequence-termination condition. We benchmark both approaches using gap fraction observables under two complementary training regimes: direct training on vetoed histories and inclusive training followed by an analysis-level veto. The resulting generated samples agree with the reference shower within statistical uncertainties for the observables considered. These results establish Nested-GPT as a physically consistent autoregressive surrogate for variable-multiplicity shower generator and motivate extensions to subleading-logarithmic resummation and finite-$N_c$ color evolution.

Two-Dimensional Transverse-Momentum Subtraction and Semi-Inclusive Deep-Inelastic Scattering at N$^3$LO in QCD

Identified hadron production is essential for the study of nucleon structure and QCD hadronization at high energies. We present the first calculation of unpolarized semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) in perturbative QCD. Our calculation is based on a novel method of two-dimensional transverse-momentum subtraction motivated by QCD factorization of soft and collinear singularities. The N$^3$LO corrections are moderate in general but can be significant in threshold regions, and exhibit excellent perturbative convergence and reduced scale variations. The fully differential framework allows for arbitrary selection cuts and directly enables precision nucleon tomography at the upcoming Electron-Ion Collider, establishing the theory foundation needed to match the anticipated experimental accuracy. Generalization of the method to calculations of polarized SIDIS is also feasible.

NNLO QCD corrections to hadron production in DIS at finite transverse momentum

We present the first calculation of hadron production in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) at finite transverse momentum to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in perturbative QCD. To overcome the long-standing challenge of infrared divergences in semi-inclusive processes with identified final state hadrons at finite transverse momentum, we implement the recently developed qT-subtraction framework based on the recoil-free jet definition. By utilizing the winner-take-all recombination scheme, we achieve a consistent factorization for hadron-jet associated production, enabling the inclusion of $O(\alpha_s^3)$ corrections. Our NNLO results generally demonstrate an improved convergence of the perturbative expansion and a reduction in scale uncertainties compared to previous next-to-leading order ones, especially for comparisons to multiplicity data from the ZEUS Collaboration. This work provides a high-precision theoretical foundation for the upcoming electron-ion collider era and establishes a new benchmark for the exploration of the nucleon's three-dimensional structure.

Resummed azimuthal decorrelation and transverse momentum imbalance of dijets at the LHC

We present a theoretical study of the azimuthal decorrelation $\delta\phi$ and transverse momentum imbalance $q_T$ in dijet production at the LHC, offering intriguing insights into the dynamics of quantum chromodynamics. We define the jet axes using the recoil-free winner-take-all (WTA) recombination scheme. For the azimuthal decorrelation $\delta\phi$, this axis choice eliminates non-global logarithms (NGLs) entirely. For the transverse momentum imbalance $q_T$, NGLs emerge specifically in the small jet radius limit ($R \ll 1$). In this regime, the WTA scheme simplifies the theoretical framework by restricting jet radius logarithms to the soft sector. We derive factorization formulae for both observables within soft-collinear effective theory. To address the small-$R$ NGLs in the $q_T$ distribution, we refactorize the soft function into global soft, collinear-soft, and ultra-collinear-soft modes. We perform the resummation of global large logarithms $\ln(\delta\phi)$ and $\ln(q_T/Q)$ up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. For the $q_T$ distribution, this is combined with a leading-logarithmic resummation of the non-global $\ln R$ terms. We match our predictions to leading fixed-order $O(\alpha_s^3)$ calculations. We also numerically investigate the structure of the first subleading power corrections. Comparisons with PYTHIA8 simulations demonstrate that the observables we consider are robust against non-perturbative multi-parton interactions and hadronization effects.

NNLL$^\prime$ resummation of azimuthal decorrelation for boosted top quark pair production at the LHC

The precision program of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) increasingly relies on the boosted regime, where top quark properties are probed at the TeV scale. However, the simultaneous presence of heavy quark mass effects and large logarithmic corrections from soft radiation poses a significant challenge for theoretical predictions. In this work, we develop a transverse momentum dependent (TMD) factorization and resummation framework for boosted top quark pair production in the back-to-back limit at the LHC. By employing a two step matching procedure, matching QCD through $\mathrm{SCET}\,+\,\mathrm{HQET}$ onto $\mathrm{SCET}\,+\,\mathrm{bHQET}$, we systematically resum large logarithms associated with both the top quark mass and the azimuthal decorrelation. A key component of our formalism is the first extraction of the two-loop ultra-collinear function, obtained via the refactorization of the fully differential massive soft function. This result completes the set of perturbative ingredients required to achieve $\mathrm{NNLL}^\prime$ accuracy for the azimuthal decorrelation distribution. Our framework establishes a new benchmark for heavy-quark TMD resummation in the boosted limit at hadron colliders.

Geometry-induced azimuthal anisotropy in coherent $J/\psi$ photoproduction

Azimuthal anisotropies in heavy-ion collisions are conventionally interpreted as signatures of hydrodynamic flow. We demonstrate that in peripheral collisions, a significant $\cos 2\phi$ asymmetry in the decay leptons of coherently photoproduced $J/\psi$ mesons arises purely from the initial-state geometry of the nuclear electromagnetic field. This modulation originates from the linear polarization of coherent photons, which is radially aligned in impact parameter space and transferred to the vector meson. By employing light-cone perturbation theory within the dipole formalism, we calculate the centrality dependence of this asymmetry for collisions at RHIC and LHC energies. Our predictions quantitatively reproduce STAR data. This observable thus provides a rigorous benchmark for distinguishing electromagnetic initial-state effects from collective medium dynamics.

Determination of the initial condition for the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation with transformers

In the high-energy limit of QCD, scattering off nucleons and nuclei can be described in terms of Wilson-line correlators whose energy dependence is perturbative. The energy dependence of the two-point correlator, called the dipole amplitude, is governed by the Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK) equation. The initial condition for the BK equation can be fitted to the experimental data, which requires evolving the dipole amplitude for a large set of different parameter values. In this work, we train a transformer model to learn the energy dependence of the dipole amplitude, skipping the time-consuming numerical evaluation of the BK equation. The transformer predicts the learned dipole amplitude and the leading order inclusive deep inelastic scattering cross section very accurately, allowing for efficient fitting of the initial condition to the experimental data. Using this setup, we fit the initial condition of the BK equation to the inclusive deep inelastic scattering data from HERA and consider two different starting points $x_0$ for the evolution. We find better agreement with the experimental data for a smaller $x_0$. This work paves the way for future studies involving global fits of the dipole amplitude at leading order and beyond.

Decoherence in high energy collisions as renormalization group flow

The unification of quantum information science and collider physics is opening a new frontier in high-energy experiments, making a systematic understanding of decoherence a critical challenge. We present a framework to systematically compute spin decoherence from final-state radiation by combining soft-collinear effective theory and open quantum system techniques. We demonstrate that the renormalization group (RG) evolution of the final-state spin density matrix constitutes a quantum channel, where the RG flow parameter, rather than time, drives a Markovian loss of quantum information. Our approach incorporates explicit detector resolution parameters, allowing a direct connection between experimental capabilities and the preservation of quantum coherence. Applying this formalism to a fermion pair ($f\bar{f}$) in the high-energy limit with QED-like final-state radiation, we provide the first systematically RG-improved prediction for decoherence as a function of experimental resolution, revealing the underlying decoherence mechanism to be a phase-flip channel. This work establishes an essential theoretical tool for future precision measurements of quantum phenomena in high-energy collisions and offers a new perspective on the interplay between RG flow and decoherence of open quantum systems.

Accessing nucleon transversity with one-point energy correlators

We propose a novel probe of the nucleon's transversity distribution, $h_1^q$, using the one-point energy correlator (OPEC), an infrared-and-collinear safe jet substructure observable. We demonstrate that in transversely polarized $p^{\uparrow}p$ collisions, the OPEC exhibits a single-spin asymmetry (SSA) with a clean $\sin(\phi_s - \phi_n)$ angular dependence. This method probes SSA over a much wider kinematic range in the angular scale $\theta_n$ compared to traditional measurements of hadron transverse momentum~$j_\perp$, establishing a complementary and systematically distinct channel to study the nucleon's three-dimensional structure at RHIC and the future Electron-Ion Collider.

Spin correlations and Bell nonlocality in $\Lambda\bar\Lambda$ pair production from $e^+e^-$ collisions with a thrust cut

We present a comprehensive theoretical study of spin correlations in $\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$ production from $e^+e^-$ annihilation, providing the theoretical predictions for the Belle II experiment. Using soft-collinear effective theory, we perform the first resummation of large logarithms for the longitudinal ($C_{LL}$) and transverse ($C_{TT}$) spin correlations for events with a cut on the thrust variable. Our calculation achieves next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy and incorporates the determination of polarized fragmenting jet functions. This framework provides robust predictions with significantly reduced theoretical uncertainties compared to fixed-order parton model approaches. Furthermore, we establish a direct mapping between the experimentally accessible spin correlation, $C_{TT}$, and a testable CHSH-Bell inequality. This result reframes $C_{TT}$ as a quantitative probe of quantum decoherence, providing a novel tool to measure the degree of parton-level entanglement that survives the fragmentation and hadronization process.

Nucleon Tomography with 0-jettiness

We propose a novel strategy to systematically isolate the nucleon's intrinsic non-perturbative three-dimensional structure by employing 0-jettiness to suppress initial-state radiation in transverse-momentum-dependent observables. Applying this method to transverse single spin asymmetries (SSAs) in $W^\pm$ and $Z^0$ boson production at RHIC, we demonstrate a substantial enhancement of the asymmetry signal (e.g., by $115\%$ for $W^-$ SSA at $q_\perp=5$ GeV). We show that this enhancement yields a substantial net gain in experimental sensitivity -- even after accounting for the statistical cost of the veto -- facilitating a more definitive test of the predicted Sivers function sign change. We further explore its applicability to spin-dependent measurements at the Electron-Ion Collider. Our analysis is formulated within a joint resummation framework that systematically resums large logarithms associated with both the veto scale and the gauge boson's transverse momentum.

Linearly Polarized Photon Fusion as a Precision Probe of the Tau Lepton Dipole Moments at Lepton Colliders

We present a comprehensive investigation into the anomalous magnetic dipole moment ($a_\tau$) and electric dipole moment ($d_\tau$) of the $\tau$ lepton using the $\gamma\gamma \to \tau^+\tau^-$ process at future lepton colliders, with the Super Tau-Charm Facility serving as a benchmark. By employing transverse-momentum-dependent factorization, we introduce novel observables derived from $\cos2\phi$, $\sin2\phi$, and $\cos4\phi$ azimuthal asymmetries to precisely probe the $\tau$ lepton's electromagnetic structure. Our analysis significantly enhances the precision of $a_\tau$ constraints within the photon-photon fusion process, yielding $\mathrm{Re}(a_\tau) \in [-4.6, 7.0] \times 10^{-3}$ at the $2\sigma$ confidence level, which approaches the precision of the Standard Model prediction. These findings highlight the considerable potential of azimuthal asymmetry measurements for high-precision determinations of fundamental particle properties at future lepton colliders.

$q_T$-slicing with multiple jets

Modern collider phenomenology requires unprecedented precision for the theoretical predictions, for which slicing techniques provide an essential tool at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in the strong coupling. The most popular slicing variable is based on the transverse momentum $q_T$ of a color-singlet final state, but its generalization to final states with jets is known to be very difficult. Here we propose two generalizations of $q_T$ that can be used for jet processes, providing proof of concept with an NLO slicing for $pp \to 2$ jets. We present factorization formulae that enable our approach to NNLO, calculate the NNLO collinear-soft function and demonstrate slicing at this order for $e^+e^- \to 2$ jets. One of these generalizations of $q_T$ only applies to planar Born processes, such as $pp \to 2$ jets, but offers a dramatic simplification of the soft function. We also discuss how our approach can directly be extended to obtain predictions for the fragmentation of hadrons. This presents a promising path for high-precision QCD calculations with multi-jet final states.

N$^{\mathbf{3}}$LL + $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^2)$ predictions of lepton-jet azimuthal angular distribution in deep-inelastic scattering

We present an analysis of lepton-jet azimuthal decorrelation in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (N$^{3}$LL) accuracy, combined with fixed-order corrections at $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^2)$. In this study, jets are defined in the lab frame using the anti-$k_T$ clustering algorithm and the winner-take-all recombination scheme. The N$^{3}$LL resummation results are derived from the transverse-momentum dependent factorization formula within the soft-collinear effective theory, while the $\mathcal{O}(\alpha_s^2)$ fixed-order matching distribution is calculated using the {\tt NLOJET++} event generator. The azimuthal decorrelation between the jet and electron serves as a critical probe of the three-dimensional structure of the nucleon. Our numerical predictions provide a robust framework for precision studies of QCD and the nucleon's internal structure through jet observables in DIS. These results are particularly significant for analyses involving jets in HERA data and the forthcoming electron-ion collider experiments.
