Generative learning for the problem of critical slowing down in lattice Gross Neveu model

In lattice field theory, Monte Carlo simulation algorithms get highly affected by critical slowing down in the critical region, where autocorrelation time increases rapidly. Hence the cost of generation of lattice configurations near the critical region increases sharply. In this paper, we use a Conditional Generative Adversarial Network (C-GAN) for sampling lattice configurations. We train the C-GAN on the dataset consisting of Hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) samples in regions away from the critical region, i.e., in the regions where the HMC simulation cost is not so high. Then we use the trained C-GAN model to generate independent samples in the critical region. Thus, the overall computational cost is reduced. We test our approach for Gross-Neveu model in 1+1 dimension. We find that the observable distributions obtained from the proposed C-GAN model match with those obtained from HMC simulations, while circumventing the problem of critical slowing down.

Azimuthal asymmetries in $J/ψ$-photon production at the EIC

We calculate azimuthal asymmetries in back-to-back production of $J/ψ$ and a photon in electron-proton scattering process at the future electron-ion collider (EIC) using TMD factorization framework. We consider the cases where the proton is unpolarized or transversely polarized. For the formation of $J/ψ$, non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) is used. We find that the cross-section gets contribution from only one color octet state, as a result, the azimuthal modulations become independent of the long-distance matrix elements (LDMEs), and thus can be used to probe, in particular the gluon TMDs which are dominant in this kinematics. We show estimates of the upper bounds of different azimuthal asymmetries using the positivity bounds on TMDs. In addition, we show estimate of asymmetries using the Gaussian parametrization of the TMDs.

Sivers and Boer-Mulders TMDs of proton in a light-front quark-diquark model

We obtain the leading twist T-odd quark transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs) of the proton, namely the Sivers function, $f_{1T}^{\perp q}(x,p_\perp^2)$, and the Boer-Mulders function, $h_1^{\perp q}(x,p_\perp^2)$, in a light-front quark-diquark model constructed with the wave functions predicted by the soft-wall AdS/QCD. The gluon rescattering is crucial to predict a nonzero T-odd TMDs. We study the utility of a nonperturbative $SU(3)$ gluon rescattering kernel going beyond the usual approximation of perturbative $U(1)$ gluons. The spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) associated with these T-odd TMDs are found to be consistent with HERMES and COMPASS data. We also evaluate the generalized Sivers and Boer-Mulders shifts and compare them with the available lattice QCD simulations.

Conditional Normalizing flow for Monte Carlo sampling in lattice scalar field theory

The cost of Monte Carlo sampling of lattice configurations is very high in the critical region of lattice field theory due to the high correlation between the samples. This paper suggests a Conditional Normalizing Flow (C-NF) model for sampling lattice configurations in the critical region to solve the problem of critical slowing down. We train the C-NF model using samples generated by Hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) in non-critical regions with low simulation costs. The trained C-NF model is employed in the critical region to build a Markov chain of lattice samples with negligible autocorrelation. The C-NF model is used for both interpolation and extrapolation to the critical region of lattice theory. Our proposed method is assessed using the 1+1-dimensional scalar $ϕ^4$ theory. This approach enables the construction of lattice ensembles for many parameter values in the critical region, which reduces simulation costs by avoiding the critical slowing down.

Gravitational Form Factors and Mechanical Properties of the Proton : Connection Between Distributions in 2D and 3D

The gravitational form factors which are obtained from the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor provide us information about internal distributions of mass, energy, pressure and shear. The Druck term is the least understood among all the gravitational form factors. In a light front quark-diquark model of proton, we investigate the Druck form factor. Using Abel transformation, we evaluate the 3D distribution in the Breit frame from the 2D light front distributions. The results are compared with other models and lattice predictions.

Critical Coupling for Two-dimensional $ϕ^4$ Theory in Discretized Light-Cone Quantization

We solve for the critical coupling in the symmetric phase of two-dimensional $ϕ^4$ field theory using Discretized Light-Cone Quantization. We adopt periodic boundary conditions, neglect the zero mode, and obtain a critical coupling consistent with the critical coupling reported using conformal truncation in light-front quantization. We find a 17% dfference from the critical coupling reported with light-front quantization in a symmetric polynomial basis.

Nucleon electroweak form factors using spin-improved holographic light-front wavefunctions

We construct spin-improved holographic light front wavefunctions for the nucleons (viewed as quark-diquark systems) and use them to successfully predict their electromagnetic Sachs form factors, their electromagnetic charge radii, as well as the axial form factor, charge and radius of the proton. The confinement scale is the universal mass scale of light-front holography, previously extracted from spectroscopic data for light hadrons. With the Dirac and Pauli form factors normalized using the quark counting rules and the measured anomalous magnetic moments respectively, the masses of the quark and diquark are the only remaining adjustable parameters. We fix them using the data set for the proton's Dirac-to-Pauli form factor ratio, and then predict all other data without any further adjustments of parameters. Agreement with data at low momentum-transfer is excellent. Our findings support the idea that light (pseudoscalar and vector) mesons and the nucleons share a nonperturbative universal holographic light-front wavefunction which is modified differently by their spin structures.

Proton gravitational form factors in a light-front quark-diquark model

We present a recent calculation of the gravitational form factors (GFFs) of proton using the light-front quark-diquark model constructed by the soft-wall AdS/QCD. The four GFFs $~A(Q^2)$ , $B(Q^2)$ , $C(Q^2)$ and $\bar{C}(Q^2)$ are calculated in this model. We also show the pressure and shear distributions of quarks inside the proton. The GFFs, $A(Q^2)$ and $B(Q^2)$ are found to be consistent with the lattice QCD, while the qualitative behavior of the $D$-term form factor is in agreement with the extracted data from the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) experiments at JLab, the lattice QCD, and the predictions of different phenomenological models.

Relations between generalized parton distributions and transverse momentum dependent parton distributions

We investigate the relations between transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs) and generalized parton distributions (GPDs) in a light-front quark-diquark model motivated by soft wall AdS/QCD. Many relations are found to have similar structure in different models. It is found that a relation between the Sivers function and the GPD $E_q$ can be obtained in this model in terms of a lensing function. The quark orbital angular momentum is calculated and the results are compared with the results in other similar models. Implications of the results are discussed. Relations among different TMDs in the model are also presented.

Gravitational form factors and mechanical properties of proton in a light-front quark-diquark model

We obtain the gravitational form factors (GFFs) and investigate their applications for the description of the mechanical properties, i.e., the distributions of pressures, shear forces inside proton, and the mechanical radius, in a light-front quark-diquark model constructed by the soft-wall AdS/QCD. The pressure and shear force distributions are also consistent with the results of different models.

Basis light-front quantization approach to nucleon

We obtain the light-front wavefunctions for the nucleon in the valence quark Fock space from an effective Hamiltonian, which includes the transverse and longitudinal confinement and the one-gluon exchange interaction with fixed coupling. The wavefunctions are generated by solving the eigenvalue equation in a basis light-front quantization. Fitting the model parameters, the wavefunctions lead to good simultaneous description of electromagnetic form factors, radii, and parton distribution functions for the proton.

Proton structure from a light-front Hamiltonian

We obtain the electromagnetic form factors, the axial form factor, and the parton distribution functions of the proton from the eigenstates of a light-front effective Hamiltonian in the leading Fock representation suitable for low-momentum scale applications. The electromagnetic and the axial form factors are found to be in agreement with the available experimental data. The unpolarized, the helicity, and the transversity valence quark distributions, after QCD evolution, are consistent with the global QCD analyses. The tensor charge also agree the experimental data, while the axial charge is somewhat outside the experimental error bar.

Use of Artificial Intelligence to Analyse Risk in Legal Documents for a Better Decision Support

Assessing risk for voluminous legal documents such as request for proposal; contracts is tedious and error prone. We have developed "risk-o-meter", a framework, based on machine learning and natural language processing to review and assess risks of any legal document. Our framework uses Paragraph Vector, an unsupervised model to generate vector representation of text. This enables the framework to learn contextual relations of legal terms and generate sensible context aware embedding. The framework then feeds the vector space into a supervised classification algorithm to predict whether a paragraph belongs to a per-defined risk category or not. The framework thus extracts risk prone paragraphs. This technique efficiently overcomes the limitations of keyword-based search. We have achieved an accuracy of 91% for the risk category having the largest training dataset. This framework will help organizations optimize effort to identify risk from large document base with minimal human intervention and thus will help to have risk mitigated sustainable growth. Its machine learning capability makes it scalable to uncover relevant information from any type of document apart from legal documents, provided the library is per-populated and rich.

Sivers and Boer-Mulders GTMDs in Light-front Holographic Quark-diquark Model

We calculate the time reversal odd (T-odd) generalized transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (GTMDs) $F^o_{1,2}$ and $H^o_{1,1}$ in a light-front quark-diquark model based on ADS/QCD. In the limit of zero momentum transfer, these reduce to the Sivers and Boer-Mulders TMDs respectively. We have incorporated both scalar and axial vector diquarks in the model and obtained an overlap representation of the GTMDs using the light-front wave functions (LFWFs). Contribution from the final state interaction is incorporated at the level of one gluon exchange as a phase factor in the LFWF. We show that the final state interaction term can be factored out in this model and this part is the same for both GTMDs. We also present the corresponding Wigner distributions.

The spin asymmetries in SIDIS associated with $T$-odd TMDs are presented in a light-front quark-diquark model of a proton. To incorporate the effects of the final state interaction, the light front wave functions are modified to have a phase factor which is essential to have Sivers or Boer-Mulders functions. The Sivers and Boer-Mulder asymmetries are compared with HERMES and COMPASS data.
