Effect of Pauli principle on the deformed QRPA calculations and its consequence in the $β$-decay calculations of deformed even-even nuclei

In this work, we take into consideration of Pauli Exclusion Principle(PEP) in the quasi-particle random phase approximation (QRPA) calculations for the deformed systems by replacing the traditional Quasi-Boson Approximation(QBA) with the renormalized one. With this new formalism, the parametrization of QRPA calculations has been changed and the collapse of QRPA solutions could be avoid for realistic $g_{pp}$ values. We further find that the necessity of renormalization parameter of particle-particle residual interaction $g_{pp}$ in QRPA calculations is due to the exclusion of PEP. So with the inclusion of PEP, we could easily extend the deformed QRPA calculations to the less explored region where lack of experimental data prevent effective parametrization of $g_{pp}$ for QRPA methods. With this theoretical improvement, we give predictions of weak decay rates for even-even isotopes in the rare earth region and the results are then compared with existing calculations.

Partial restoration of isospin symmetry for neutrinoless double beta decay in the deformed nuclear system of $^{150}$Nd

In this work, we calculate the matrix elements of $0νββ$-decay of $^{150}$Nd with the deformed pn-QRPA method. We adopted the approach introduced by Rodin, Faessler [Phys. Rev. C84, 014322 (2011)] and Simkovic {\it et. al.} [Phys. Rev. C87,045501(2013)] to restore the isospin symmetry by enforcing $M^{2ν}_F=0$. We found that with this restoration, the Fermi matrix elements are reduced by about 30\% while the more important Gamow-Teller matrix elements remains the same. The results of an enlarged model space is also presented, which changes the matrix elements by less than 10\%.

Effect of first forbidden decays on the shape of neutrino spectra

We examine the effect of First Forbidden (FF) decays on $β$-decay neutrino spectra by performing microscopic nuclear structure calculations. By analyzing the FF decay branches of even-even nuclei we conclude that FF decays may be responsible for part of the missing neutrinos in the so called "Reactor Neutrino Anomaly". Further calculations and more experimental data are needed for a firm conclusion.

Investigating $β$-decay properties of spherical nuclei along the possible r-process path

The spherical QRPA method is used for the calculations of the $β$-decay properties of the neutron-rich nuclei in the region near the neutron magic numbers N=82 and N=126 which are important for determination of the r-process path. Our calculations differ from previous works by the use of realistic forces for the proton-neutron interaction. Both the allowed and first-forbidden $β$-decays are included. Detailed comparisons with the experimental measurements and the previous shell-model calculations are performed. The results for half-lives and beta-delayed neutron emission probabilities will serve as input for the r-process nucleosynthesis simulations.

$β$-decay properties for neutron-rich Kr-Tc isotopes from deformed pn-QRPA calculations with realistic forces

In this work we studied $β$-decay properties for deformed neutron-rich nuclei in the region Z=36-43. We use the deformed pn-QRPA methods with the realistic CD-Bonn forces, and include both the Gamow-Teller and first-forbidden types of decays in the calculation. The obtained $β$-decay half-lives and neutron-emission probabilities of deformed isotopes are compared with experiment as well as with previous calculations. The advantages and disadvantages of the method are discussed.

Neutrinoless double beta decay of deformed nuclei within QRPA with realistic interaction

In this paper a microscopic state-of-the-art approach to calculation of the nuclear matrix element $M^{0ν}$ for neutrinoless double beta decay with an account for nuclear deformation is presented in length and applied for $^{76}$Ge, $^{150}$Nd and $^{160}$Gd. The proton-neutron quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) with a realistic residual interaction [the Brueckner $G$ matrix derived from the charge-depending Bonn (Bonn-CD) nucleon-nucleon potential] is used as the underlying nuclear structure model. The effects of the short range correlations and the quenching of the axial vector coupling constant $g_A$ are analyzed. The results show that neutrinoless double beta decay of $^{150}$Nd, to be measured soon by the SNO+ collaboration, provides one of the best probes of the Majorana neutrino mass. This confirms our preliminary conclusion in Ref. {Fang10}.

Neutrinoless double beta decay of $^{150}$Nd with account for deformation

A microscopic state-of-the-art calculation of the nuclear matrix element for neutrinoless double beta decay of $^{150}$Nd with an account for nuclear deformation is performed. The proton-neutron quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) with a realistic residual interaction [the Brueckner $G$ matrix derived from the charge-depending Bonn (Bonn-CD) nucleon-nucleon potential] is used as the underlying nuclear structure model. The present calculated matrix element is suppressed by about 40% as compared with our previous QRPA result for $^{150}$Nd obtained with neglect of deformation. By making use of this newest nuclear matrix element, one may conclude that neutrinoless double beta decay of $^{150}$Nd, to be measured soon by the SNO+ collaboration, provides one of the best probes of the Majorana neutrino mass.
