Extracting Boundary Conformal Data from Periodic Non-Hermitian Critical Chains

Boundary conformal field theory (BCFT) contains universal data that are usually accessed microscopically by imposing spatial boundaries on the lattice. In non-Hermitian many-body systems, however, changing boundary conditions can qualitatively reorganize spectra and eigenstates, and their boundary criticality remains elusive. Here, we introduce a periodic-chain spectroscopy to extract universal boundary quantities, such as the Affleck-Ludwig $g$-factor, directly from non-Hermitian bulk-critical quantum chains, avoiding the need to engineer microscopic open boundaries and circumventing subtle boundary effects in non-Hermitian systems. We illustrate our method with a $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric Ising realization of the real nonunitary Yang-Lee CFT and reveal a universal negative excited-to-ground ratio, which has no counterpart in unitary critical theories and provides a microscopic signature of nonunitarity. For the genuinely complex fixed points of the non-Hermitian five-state Potts chain, we extract intrinsically complex boundary coefficients, verify the exact Kramers-Wannier duality relation, and select the consistent analytic-continuation branch of the boundary states. Our results establish a route to nonunitary BCFT universal data using only knowledge of the bulk critical system, opening a window into non-Hermitian boundary criticality.

TadML: A fast temporal action detection with Mechanics-MLP

Temporal Action Detection(TAD) is a crucial but challenging task in video understanding. It is aimed at detecting both the type and start-end frame for each action instance in a long, untrimmed video. Most current models adopt both RGB and Optical-Flow streams for the TAD task. Thus, original RGB frames must be converted manually into Optical-Flow frames with additional computation and time cost, which is an obstacle to achieve real-time processing. At present, many models adopt two-stage strategies, which would slow the inference speed down and complicatedly tuning on proposals generating.By comparison, we propose a one-stage anchor-free temporal localization method with RGB stream only, in which a novel Newtonian Mechanics-MLP architecture is established. It has comparable accuracy with all existing state-of-the-art models, while surpasses the inference speed of these methods by a large margin. The typical inference speed in this paper is astounding 4.44 video per second on THUMOS14. In applications, because there is no need to convert optical flow, the inference speed will be faster. It also proves that MLP has great potential in downstream tasks such as TAD. Quantum many-body scars in spin-1 Kitaev chain with uniaxial single-ion anisotropy

To establish a solid-state-based framework for the coexistence of quantum many-body scars and quantum criticality, we investigate the spin-1 Kitaev chain with uniaxial single-ion anisotropy (SIA). In the subspace with uniform $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge fields, this model can be exactly mapped to the spin-1/2 effective detuned PXP Hamiltonian, where the SIA plays a role of the static detuning term. The quench dynamics starting from the product states is symmetric between positive and negative values of the SIA, while a quantum phase transition from the Kitaev spin liquid to the dimer phase only occurs at the critical point with a negative $D_c$, implying the spontaneous breaking of the translational symmetry. We find that the coherent oscillations of quantum fidelity and certain local observables are sustained against small SIA perturbations in a quantum quench from special initial states. While the oscillation amplitudes of these observables decay with time as the SIA strength is increased, the system completely thermalizes upon approaching the critical point. In contrast, the initial polarized state, which shows an absence of revivals of quantum fidelity, will exhibit long revivals for $D<D_c$. Finally, we investigate the evolution of phase boundaries of the Kitaev spin liquid and dimer phase by introducing Heisenberg interactions, which spoil the $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge fields. A complete phase diagram is given by the infinite time-evolving block decimation method and the ground state properties of each phase are accurately captured by various spin correlations. Our work opens the door to understanding exotic connections between many-body scars and quantum criticality in systems with higher spins.
