Magnetization and Magnetic Field-Induced Correction: Implications for QGP Thermal Photon Production in Magnetohydrodynamic

We investigate thermal photon emission from magnetized quark-gluon plasma (QGP) within (1+1)-dimensional relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), systematically incorporating magnetic susceptibility $\chi_m$---encompassing both constant and lattice-QCD-derived temperature-dependent $\chi_m(T)$ parametrizations---and weak-field quantum corrections to quark distribution functions $f_{\rm EM}$. Employing the Pu-Bjorken MHD framework, we calculate photon production rates from Compton scattering, $q\bar{q}$ annihilation, bremsstrahlung, and annihilation with rescattering, and integrate these over the QGP spacetime evolution to obtain transverse momentum ($p_T$) spectra. Our results demonstrate that photon yields are predominantly governed by the initial magnetic field strength and its temporal decay profile, with $\chi_m$ exerting negligible influence in the explored parameter space. In contrast, the weak-field correction $f_{\rm EM}$ induces a distinct enhancement in thermal photon production at intermediate $p_T$. This work establishes a rigorous theoretical framework for quantifying electromagnetic observables in magnetized QGP and provides the foundation for future dissipative MHD studies incorporating spin-magnetization dynamics.

Linear causality and stability constraints on relativistic second-order magnetohydrodynamics

In this work, we construct a theoretical framework for relativistic second-order magnetohydrodynamics based on entropy current analysis. The formalism consistently incorporates the relaxation dynamics of dissipative fluxes, ensuring the hyperbolic nature of the evolution equations. Utilizing linear mode analysis, we investigate the constraints imposed by causality and stability on this anisotropic system. By linearizing the theory around a homogeneous equilibrium state, we demonstrate that the excitation spectrum decomposes into magnetosonic, Alfv\'en, and charge-diffusion sectors. For each sector, we derive asymptotic dispersion relations in both the long-wavelength (small-$k$) and short-wavelength (large-$k$) regimes, validating them against exact numerical roots. Our numerical analysis confirms the accuracy of these asymptotic solutions and uncovers a nontrivial angular dependence, especially near special propagation directions where the ordinary momentum expansion becomes less reliable. By evaluating the large-$k$ behavior of the propagating branches alongside the damping properties of non-hydrodynamic modes, we delineate the corresponding causality constraints. We find that the admissible causal domain is governed by the interplay between anisotropic transport coefficients and relaxation times, with the resulting bounds being intrinsically mode-dependent. These findings provide a systematic theoretical foundation for developing stable and causal relativistic magnetohydrodynamics beyond the first-order approximation.

Attractors in a Generalized Relativistic Second Order Spin Hydrodynamics

We investigate the attractor of spin density in relativistic spin hydrodynamics using Zubarev's non-equilibrium statistical operator formalism in the spin probe limit. We derive the (0+1)D Bjorken flow equations and the associated attractor equation while retaining second order gradient corrections in the relevant relaxation constitutive equations including couplings associated with nonlinear response and nonlocal memory effects. We analyze the early time fixed point structure and analytically determine the early time attractor solution, thereby clarifying branch selection and the role of different dynamical corrections. We find that source-like driving terms modify the leading correction to the attractor solution without changing the fixed point structure, whereas self feedback terms involving the rotational stress tensor modify the dominant balance and modify the early time fixed point structure. We further study the late time asymptotic behavior in the conformal limit and show that the newly added terms affect the first subleading asymptotics without changing the leading late time branches. These results provide a unified picture of early and late time attractor dynamics in the conformal limit.

Thermal photon emission from quark-gluon plasma: 1+1D magnetohydrodynamics results

We investigate thermal photon production in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) under strong magnetic fields using a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) framework. Adopting the Bjorken flow model with power-law decaying magnetic fields $\mathbf{B}(\tau) = \mathbf{B}_0 (\tau_0/\tau)^a$ (where $a$ controls the decay rate, $B_0 = \sqrt{\sigma} T_0^2$, and $\sigma$ characterizes the initial field strength), we employ relativistic ideal fluid dynamics under the non-resistive approximation. The resulting QGP temperature evolution exhibits distinct $a$- and $\sigma$-dependent behaviors. Thermal photon production rates are calculated for three dominant processes: Compton scattering with $q\bar{q}$ annihilation (C+A), bremsstrahlung (Brems), and $q\bar{q}$ annihilation with additional scattering (A+S). These rates are integrated over the space-time volume to obtain the photon transverse momentum $(p_T)$ spectrum. Our results demonstrate that increasing $a$ enhances photon yields across all $p_T$, with $a \to \infty$ (super-fast decay) providing an upper bound. For $a = 2/3$, larger $\sigma$ suppresses yields through accelerated cooling, whereas for $a \to \infty$, larger $\sigma$ enhances yields via prolonged thermal emission. Low-$p_T$ photons receive significant contributions from all QGP evolution stages, while high-$p_T$ photons originate predominantly from early times. The central rapidity region $(y=0)$ dominates the total yield. This work extends photon yield studies to the MHD regime under strong magnetic fields, elucidating magnetic field effects on QGP electromagnetic signatures and establishing foundations for future investigations of magnetization and dissipative phenomena.

Left-right splitting of elliptic flow in heavy ion collisions: TRENTo-3D initialization and CLVisc hydrodynamic simulations

Using the TRENTo-3D initial condition model coupled with (3+1)-dimensional CLVisc hydrodynamic simulations, we systematically investigate the left-right splitting of elliptic flow ($\Delta v_{2}$) for soft particles in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Our study reveals that the final distribution characteristics of $\Delta v_{2}$ are primarily depend on the odd flow harmonics and $v_{2}$ itself. We find that the parton transverse momentum scale $k_\mathrm{T}$ not only determines the geometric tilt of the QGP fireball but also significantly affects the rapidity dependence of both $v_1$ and $\Delta v_{2}$, providing new insights into the splitting mechanism of $\Delta v_{2}$. Furthermore, our results demonstrate that $\Delta v_{2} (p_\mathrm{T})$ exhibits significant sensitivity to influences such as the sub-nucleonic degrees of freedom (or `hotspots'), transverse momentum scale, and fragmentation region profile. By analyzing the $\Delta v_{2}$ and $\Delta v_{2}/v_{2}$ ratio, our findings provide new constraints on the uncertainties of the QGP initial state and provide additional constraints for refining model parameters.

Generalized relativistic second-order spin hydrodynamics from Zubarev's non-equilibrium statistical operator

Inspired by the work in Ref.[1], which considers the additional second-order contributions arising from nonlocal corrections due to two-point correlation functions of tensors of different ranks at distinct spacetime points, we similarly employ the nonequilibrium statistical operator method to extend this framework to include spin degrees of freedom. In addition to obtaining analogous extra second-order terms in the shear stress tensor, bulk viscous pressure, and charge diffusion currents resulting from such contributions, we further derive additional second-order terms originating from the same mechanism in the charge diffusion currents, rotational stress tensor and the boost heat vector. Furthermore, we express all transport coefficients represented by two-point or three-point correlations in terms of retarded Green's functions.

1+1 dimensional relativistic viscous non-resistive magnetohydrodynamics with longitudinal boost invariance

We study 1+1 dimensional relativistic non-resistive magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) with longitudinal boost invariance and shear stress tensor. Several analytical solutions that describe the fluid temperature evolution under the equation of state (EoS) $\varepsilon=3p$ are derived, relevant to relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Extending the Victor-Bjorken ideal MHD flow to include non-zero shear viscosity, two perturbative analytical solutions for the first-order (Navier-Stokes) approximation are obtained. For small, power-law evolving external magnetic fields, our solutions are stable and show that both magnetic field and shear viscosity cause fluid heating with an early temperature peak, align with the numerical results. In the second-order (Israel-Stewart) theory, our findings show that the combined presence of magnetic field and shear viscosity leads to a slow cooling rate of fluid temperature, with initial shear stress significantly affecting temperature evolution of QGP.

Relativistic second-order spin hydrodynamics: A Kubo-type formulation for the quark-gluon plasma

Building upon Zubarev's nonequilibrium statistical operator formalism, we derive a relativistic canonical-like second-order spin hydrodynamics for two power-counting schemes. We obtain comprehensive second-order expressions for dissipative fluxes, including the shear stress tensor, bulk viscous pressure, charge-diffusion currents, rotational stress tensor, boost heat vector, and spin tensor-related dissipative flux. By introducing novel transport coefficients and expressing them in terms of equilibrium correlation functions, we establish new Kubo-type formulas for second-order transport. Our findings have significant implications for understanding the collective spin dynamics of strongly interacting matter and provide a robust theoretical basis for future experimental and theoretical studies.

Dynamical magnetic fields in heavy-ion collisions

The magnetic fields in heavy-ion collisions are important ingredients for many interesting phenomena, such as the Chiral Magnetic Effect, Chiral Magnetic Wave, the directed flow $v_1$ of $D^0$ mesons and the splitting of the spin polarization of the $\Lambda$/$\bar{\Lambda}$. Quantitative studies of these phenomena however suffer from limited understanding on the dynamical evolution of these fields in the medium created by the collisions, which remains a critical and challenging problem. The initial magnetic fields from the colliding nuclei decay very fast in the vacuum but their lifetime could be extended through medium response due to electrically conducting quarks and antiquarks. Here we perform a detailed analysis of such medium effect on the dynamical magnetic fields by numerically solving the Maxwell's equations concurrently with the expanding medium described by viscous hydrodynamics, under the assumption of negligible back reaction of the fields on the fluid evolution. Our results suggest a considerable enhancement of late time magnetic fields, the magnitude of which depends sensitively on the fireball expansion as well as the medium electric conductivity both before and during hydrodynamic stage.

Anomalous magnetohydrodynamics with temperature-dependent electric conductivity and application to the global polarization

We have derived the solutions of the relativistic anomalous magnetohydrodynamics with longitudinal Bjorken boost invariance and transverse electromagnetic fields in the presence of temperature or energy density dependent electric conductivity. We consider the equations of states in a high temperature limit or in a high chiral chemical potential limit. We obtain both perturbative analytic solutions up to the order of \hbar and numerical solutions in our configurations of initial electromagnetic fields and Bjorken flow velocity. Our results show that the temperature or energy density dependent electric conductivity plays an important role to the decaying of the energy density and electromagnetic fields. We also implement our results to the splitting of global polarization for \Lambda and \bar{\Lambda} hyperons induced by the magnetic fields. Our results for the splitting of global polarization disagree with the experimental data in low energy collisions, which implies that the contribution from gradient of chemical potential may dominate in the low energy collisions.

Relativistic Viscous Hydrodynamics with Angular Momentum

Hydrodynamics is a general theoretical framework for describing the long-time large-distance behaviors of various macroscopic physical systems, with its equations based on conservation laws such as energy-momentum conservation and charge conservation. Recently there has been significant interest in understanding the implications of angular momentum conservation for a corresponding hydrodynamic theory. In this work, we examine the key conceptual issues for such a theory in the relativistic regime where the orbital and spin components get entangled. We derive the equations for relativistic viscous hydrodynamics with angular momentum through Navier-Stokes type of gradient expansion analysis and find five new transport coefficients for angular momentum diffusion modes.

Perturbation solutions of relativistic viscous hydrodynamics for longitudinally expanding fireballs

The solutions of relativistic viscous hydrodynamics for longitudinal expanding fireballs is investigated with the Navier-Stokes theory and Israel-Stewart theory. The energy and Euler conservation equations for the viscous fluid are derived in Rindler coordinates with the longitudinal expansion effect is small. Under the perturbation assumption, an analytical perturbation solution for the Navier-Stokes approximation and numerical solutions for the Israel-Stewart approximation are presented. The temperature evolution with both shear viscous effect and longitudinal acceleration effect in the longitudinal expanding framework are presented and specifically temperature profile shows symmetry Gaussian shape in the Rindler coordinates. In addition, in the presence of the longitudinal acceleration expanding effect, the results of the Israel-Stewart approximation are compared to the results from Bjorken and Navier-Stokes approximation, and it gives a good description than the Navier-Stokes theories results at the early stages of evolution.

Chiral magnetic effect for chiral fermion system

We concisely derive chiral magnetic effect through Wigner function approach for chiral fermion system. Then we derive chiral magnetic effect through solving the Landau levels of chiral fermions in detail. The procedures of second quantization and ensemble average lead to the equation of chiral magnetic effect for righthand and lefthand fermion systems. Chiral magnetic effect only comes from the contribution of the lowest Landau level. We carefully analyze the lowest Landau level, and find that all righthand (chirality is +1) fermions move along positive z-direction and all lefthand (chirality is -1) fermions move along negative z-direction. From this picture chiral magnetic effect can be explained clearly in a microscopic way.

1+1 dimensional relativistic magnetohydrodynamics with longitudinal acceleration

Non-central heavy-ion collisions generate the strongest magnetic field of the order of $10^{18}-10^{19}$ Gauss due to the electric current produced by the positively charged spectators that travel at nearly the speed of light. Such transient electromagnetic fields may induce various novel effects in the hydrodynamic description of the quark gluon plasma for non-central heavy-ion collisions. We investigate the longitudinal acceleration effects on the 1+1 dimensional relativistic magnetohydrodynamics with transverse magnetic fields. We analyze the proper time evolution of the system energy density. We find that the longitudinal acceleration parameter $\lambda^*$, magnetic field decay parameter $a$, equation of state $\kappa$, and initial magnetization $\sigma_0$ have nontrivial effects on the evolutions of the system energy density and temperature.

Chiral magnetic currents with QGP medium response in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC energies

We calculate the electromagnetic current with a more realistic approach in the RHIC and LHC energy regions in the article. We take the partons formation time as the initial time of the magnetic field response of QGP medium. The maximum electromagnetic current and the time-integrated current are two important characteristics of the chiral magnetic effect (CME), which can characterize the intensity and duration of fluctuations of CME. We consider the finite frequency response of CME to a time-varying magnetic field, find a significant impact from QGP medium feedback, and estimate the generated electromagnetic current as a function of time, beam energy and impact parameter.
