Redshift Dependence of $H_0$ Dipole in Pantheon+ Supernovae

We examine the dipole structure in the local cosmic expansion rate $H_0$ using the Pantheon+ compilation of Type Ia supernovae. We reconstruct directional maps of $H_0$ across the sky within the low-redshift regime, $z_{\rm min} < z < 0.2$, evaluated in the CMB rest frame. To perform a tomographic analysis, we choose 10 different values for $z_{\rm min}\in [0.015 , 0.045]$ range. We find a dipole amplitude $A_{\rm dip}=1.16\pm0.28\ {\rm km/s/Mpc}$ for the lowest bin, monotonically decreasing to $A_{\rm dip} =0.35\pm0.52\ {\rm km/s/Mpc}$, as we increase $z_{\rm min}$. Since $A_{\rm dip}$ is positive-definite, by construction $A_{\rm dip} > 0$ even in an isotropic universe, thus to assess the statistical significance, we compare to $A_{\rm dip}$ generated from 1000 Monte Carlo simulations based on the $Λ$CDM model and the same redshift ranges. Our results reveal a $2-3σ$ dipole pattern (depending on how the significance level is computed) for $z_{\rm min}\lesssim 0.032$. For redshift thresholds where the signal remains statistically significant ($>2σ$), the inferred dipole direction points close to Shapley supercluster and CMB dipole directions. As $z_{\rm min}$ increases, the dipole amplitude diminishes in line with expectations of a higher redshift isotropic Universe, but the difference in maximal antipodal $H_0$ determinations, $Δ\text{H}_0^{\rm max}$, retain a signal of an anisotropy that disappears in the dipole ansatz. The decreasing statistical significance of all estimators with increasing $z_{\rm min}$ suggests that any $H_0$ dipole is a low-redshift feature.

Elucidating cosmological model dependence with $H_0$

We observe that the errors on the Hubble constant $H_0$, a universal parameter in any FLRW cosmology, can be larger in specific cosmological models than Gaussian Processes (GP) data reconstruction. We comment on the prior mean function and trace the smaller GP errors to stronger correlations, which we show precludes all well studied dynamical dark energy models. Our analysis suggests that "cosmological model independence", especially in the statement of Hubble tension, has become a misnomer.

Ehlers as EM duality in the double copy

Given a solution to 4D Einstein gravity with an isometry direction, it is known that the equations of motion are identical to those of a 3D $σ$-model with target space geometry $SU(1,1)/U(1)$. Thus, any transformation by $SU(1, 1) \cong SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ is a symmetry for the action and allows one to generate new solutions in 4D. Here we clarify and extend recent work on electromagnetic (EM) duality in the context of the classical double copy. In particular, for pure gravity, we identify an explicit map between the Maxwell field of the single copy and the scalars in the target space, allowing us to identify the $U(1) \subset SL(2, \mathbb{R})$ symmetry dual to EM duality in the single copy. Moreover, we extend the analysis to Einstein-Maxwell theory, where we highlight the role of Ehlers-Harrison transformations and, for spherically symmetric charged black hole solutions, we interpret the equations of motion as a truncation of the putative single copy for Einstein-Yang-Mills theory.

Yang-Baxter Deformations Beyond Coset Spaces (a slick way to do TsT)

Yang-Baxter string sigma-models provide a systematic way to deform coset geometries, such as $AdS_p \times S^p$, while retaining the $σ$-model integrability. It has been shown that the Yang-Baxter deformation in target space is simply an open-closed string map that can be defined for any geometry, not just coset spaces. Given a geometry with an isometry group and a bivector that is assumed to be a linear combination of antisymmetric products of Killing vectors, we show the equations of motion of (generalized) supergravity reduce to the Classical Yang-Baxter Equation associated with the isometry group, proving the statement made in [1]. These results bring us closer to the proof of the "YB solution generating technique" for (generalized) supergravity advertised in [1] and in particular provide an economical way to perform TsT transformations.

Classical Yang-Baxter Equation from Supergravity

We promote the open-closed string map, originally formulated by Seiberg \& Witten, to a solution generating prescription in generalized supergravity. The approach hinges on a knowledge of an antisymmetric bivector $Θ$, built from antisymmetric products of Killing vectors, which is specified by the equations of motion. In the cases we study, the equations of motion reproduce the Classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE) and $Θ$ is the most general $r$-matrix solution. Our work generalizes Yang-Baxter deformations to non-coset spaces and unlocks gravity as a means to classify $r$-matrix solutions to the CYBE.

$I$ in generalized supergravity

We showed in previous work that for homogeneous Yang-Baxter (YB) deformations of AdS$_5\times$S$^5$, the open string metric and coupling, and as a result the closed string density $e^{-2 Φ} \sqrt{g}$, remain undeformed. In this work, in addition to extending these results to the deformation associated with the modified CYBE, or $η$-deformation, we identify the Page forms as the open string counterpart for RR fields and demonstrate case by case that the non-zero Page forms remain invariant under YB deformations. We give a physical meaning to the Killing vector $I$ of generalized supergravity and show for all YB deformations: 1) $I$ appears as a current for center of mass motion on the worldvolume of a D-branes probing the background, 2) $I$ is equal to the divergence of the noncommutativity parameter, 3) $I$ exhibits "holographic" behavior, where the radial component of $I$ vanishes at the AdS boundary, and 4) in pure spinor formalism $I$ is related to a certain state in the BRST cohomology.

Calibrated Entanglement Entropy

The Ryu-Takayanagi prescription reduces the problem of calculating entanglement entropy in CFTs to the determination of minimal surfaces in a dual anti-de Sitter geometry. For 3D gravity theories and BTZ black holes, we identify the minimal surfaces as special Lagrangian cycles calibrated by the real part of the holomorphic one-form of a spacelike hypersurface. We show that (generalised) calibrations provide a unified way to determine holographic entanglement entropy from minimal surfaces, which is applicable to warped AdS$_3$ geometries. We briefly discuss generalisations to higher dimensions.

Banados and SUSY: On Supersymmetry and Minimal Surfaces of Locally AdS3 Geometries

We extend the classification of supersymmetric locally AdS$_3$ geometries, beyond BTZ black holes, to the Banados geometries, noting that supersymmetries are in one-to-one correspondence with solutions to the Hill differential condition. We show that the number of global supersymmetries is an orbit invariant quantity and identify geometries with zero, one, two, three and four global supersymmetries. As an application of our classification, we exploit supersymmetry, which is preserved locally in the bulk, to determine space-like co-dimension two surfaces in AdS$_3$. In the process, we by-pass geodesics or mappings of AdS$_3$, neither of which have an analogue in higher dimensions, to recover known Hubeny-Rangamani-Takayanagi surfaces. Our findings suggest supersymmetry can be exploited to find extremal surfaces in holographic entanglement entropy.

A Requiem for $AdS_4 \times \mathbb{C} P^3$ Fermionic self-T-duality

Strong evidence for dual superconformal symmetry in $\mathcal{N} = 6$ superconformal Chern-Simons theory has fueled expectations that the AdS/CFT dual geometry $AdS_4 \times \mathbb{C} P^3$ is self-dual under T-duality. We revisit the problem to identify commuting bosonic and fermionic isometries in a systematic fashion and show that fermionic T-duality, a symmetry originally proposed by Berkovits & Maldacena, inevitably leads to a singularity in the dilaton transformation. We show that TsT deformations commute with fermionic T-duality and comment on T-duality in the corresponding sigma model. Our results rule out self-duality based on fermionic T-duality for $AdS_4 \times \mathbb{C} P^3$ or its TsT deformations, but leave the door open for new possibilities.
