Calibration processes for photon-photon colliders

Processes with creation of a pair charged particles with emission of hard photon and two pairs of charged particles are considered for colliding partially polarized photon photon beams. The effects of circular and linear polarization of the initial photons are discussed in more details.

Radiative muon (pion) pair production in high energy electron-positron annihilation process

Process of muon (pion) pair production with small invariant mass in the electron-positron high-energy annihilation, accompanied by emission of hard photon at large angles, is considered. We find that the Dell-Yan picture for differential cross section is valid in the charge-even experimental set-up. Radiative corrections both for electron block and for final state block are taken into account.

Single-spin asymmetry in pion production in polarized proton-proton collisions and odderon

Single-spin asymmetry appears due to the interference of single and double gluon exchange between protons. A heavy fermion model is used to describe the jet production in the interaction of gluon with the proton implying the further averaging over its mass. As usually in one-spin correlations, the imaginary part of the double gluon exchange amplitude play the relevant role. The asymmetry in the inclusive set-up with the pion tagged in the fragmentation region of the polarized proton does not depend on the center of mass energy in the limits of its large values. The lowest order radiative corrections to the polarized and unpolarized contributions to the differential cross sections are calculated in the leading logarithmical approximation. In general, a coefficient at logarithm of the ratio of cms energy to the pion mass depends on transversal momentum of the pion. This ratio of the lowest order contribution to the asymmetry may be interpreted as the partial contribution to the odderon intercept. The ratio of the relevant contributions in the unpolarized case can be associated with the partial contribution to the pomeron intercept. The numerical results given for the model describe the jet as a heavy fermion decay fragments.

Multiple lepton pair production in relativistic ion collisions

We apply the Sudakov technique to description of the multiple production of lepton pairs in peripheral collisions of ultrarelativistic heavy ions. For heavy ions with $Z_1α\sim Z_2α\ll 1$ one needs a careful treatment of the multiple Coulomb exchange between colliding ions and screening effects, whereas interaction of real or virtual lepton pairs with colliding ions can be neglected. We demonstrate that while the inclusive spectra are modified by multiple Coulomb exchange between the colliding ions, the Coulomb corrections to the momentum integrated multiplicity distributions do vanish. After transformation to the impact parameter representation the probability of $n$ lepton pair production is shown to obey the Poisson distribution. The relevant cross section is obtained.

Process 3 -> 3 and crossing symmetry violation

Using the Sudakov technique we sum the perturbation series for the process $3\to 3$ and obtain the compact analytical expression for the amplitude of this process, which takes into account all possible Coulomb interactions between colliding particles. Compare it with the amplitude of the lepton pair production in heavy ion collision i.e. in the process $ 2\to 4$, we show that crossing symmetry between this processes holds only if one neglects the interaction of produced pair with ions (i.e. in the approximation $Z_{1,2}α\ll 1$).

The lepton pair production in heavy ion collisions in perturbation theory

We derive the first terms in the amplitude of lepton pair production in the Coulomb fields of two relativistic heavy ions. Using the Sudakov technique, which very simplify the calculations in momentum space for the processes at high energies, we get the compact analytical expressions for differential cross section of the process under consideration in the lowest order in fine structure constant (Born approximation) valid for any momentum transfer and in a wide kinematics region for produced particles. Exploiting the same technique we consider the next terms of perturbation series (up to fourth order in fine structure constant) and investigate their energy dependence and limiting cases. It has been shown that taking in account all relevant terms in corresponding order one obtains the expressions which are gauge invariant and finite. We estimate the contribution of the Coulomb corrections to the total cross section and discuss the cancellations of the different terms which holds in the total cross section.

Scalar and pseudoscalar meson pole terms in the hadronic light-by-light contributions to $a_μ^{had}$

Third QED order hadronic light-by-light (LBL) contributions $a_μ^{LBL}(M)$ to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon $a_μ^{had}$ from the pole terms of scalar $σ$, $a_0(980)$ and pseudoscalar $π^0$, $η$, $η'$ mesons (M) in the framework of the linearized extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model are evaluated. The off-shell structure of the photon-photon-meson vertices is taken into account by means of constituent quark triangle loops. The mass of the quark is taken to be $m_u=m_d=m_q=(280 \pm 20)$ MeV. The unknown strong coupling constants of $π^0, η, η'$ and $a_0$ mesons with quarks are evaluated in a comparison of the corresponding theoretical two-photon widths calculated in the framework of our approach with experimental ones. The $σ$-meson coupling constant is taken to be equal to $π_0$-meson coupling constant as it follows from the linearized Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model Lagrangian. Then one obtains $a_μ^{LBL}(π_0)$=$(81.83 \pm 16.50) \times 10^{-11}$, $a_μ^{LBL}(η)$=$(5.62 \pm 1.25) \times 10^{-11}$, $a_μ^{LBL}(η')$=$(8.00 \pm 1.74) \times 10^{-11}$, $a_μ^{LBL}(σ)$=$(11.67 \pm 2.38) \times 10^{-11}$ and $a_μ^{LBL}(a_0)$=$(0.62 \pm 0.24) \times 10^{-11}$. The total contribution of meson poles in LBL is $a_μ^{LBL}(M)$=$(107.74 \pm 16.81) \times 10^{-11}$.

P-violating effects in low-energy Compton scattering

Parity of effects induced by one loop corrections of Standard model of Compton scattering are considered. We note the main effects arise from W contributions. Keeping in the mind scheme independent gauge invariance amplitude we calculated the one spin asymmetries for the case when initial electron is polarized and the case of circular polarized photon. They are of order $10^{-13}$.
