Atmospheric effects on cosmic-ray muon rate at high latitude (78.9{\deg}N)

Since 2019, three scintillator detectors of the EEE collaboration have been continuously measuring cosmic muon rates at 78.9{\deg}N at the Ny-{\AA}lesund Research Station (Svalbard). The resulting six-year time series reveals a pronounced annual modulation, driven primarily by seasonal atmospheric variations. Utilizing routine radiosonde profiles collected above the same site, we applied several established techniques --along with a tailored analysis approach-- to investigate the relationship between muon rate and atmospheric temperature. The temperature-corrected muon-rates are analysed using the Lomb-Scargle periodogram technique in order to investigate the presence of remaining periodic structures. Finally, the temperature corrections coefficients of our analysis are compared with measurements in other stations located at lower latitudes.

Analysis Facilities White Paper

This white paper presents the current status of the R&D for Analysis Facilities (AFs) and attempts to summarize the views on the future direction of these facilities. These views have been collected through the High Energy Physics (HEP) Software Foundation's (HSF) Analysis Facilities forum, established in March 2022, the Analysis Ecosystems II workshop, that took place in May 2022, and the WLCG/HSF pre-CHEP workshop, that took place in May 2023. The paper attempts to cover all the aspects of an analysis facility.

Ecological transition for the gas mixtures of the MRPC cosmic ray telescopes of the EEE Project

The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Collaboration is fully involved in an ecological transition. The use of the standard gas mixture, \ce{C_{2}H_{2}F_{4}}+ \ce{SF_{6}}, has stopped in favor of an alternative green mixture based on \ce{C_{3}H_{2}F_{4}} with the addition of He or \ce{CO_{2}}. The choise of these new mixtures is motivated by the significant lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) to reduce the emission of gases potentially contributing to the greenhouse effect. The EEE experiment consists of 61 muon telescopes based on Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPCs), each telescope composed of 3 chambers filled with gas. Several EEE detectors are today completely fluxed with the new ecological mixture. This contribution will report recent results about the telescope performance obtained from studies with the eco-friendly alternative mixture carried out in the last years.

The SuperFGD Prototype Charged Particle Beam Tests

A novel scintillator detector, the SuperFGD, has been selected as the main neutrino target for an upgrade of the T2K experiment ND280 near detector. The detector design will allow nearly 4π coverage for neutrino interactions at the near detector and will provide lower energy thresholds, significantly reducing systematic errors for the experiment. The SuperFGD is made of optically-isolated scintillator cubes of size 10x10x10 mm^3, providing the required spatial and energy resolution to reduce systematic uncertainties for future T2K runs. The SuperFGD for T2K will have close to two million cubes in a 1920x560x1840 mm^3 volume. A prototype made of 24x8x48 cubes was tested at a charged particle beamline at the CERN PS facility. The SuperFGD Prototype was instrumented with readout electronics similar to the future implementation for T2K. Results on electronics and detector response are reported in this paper, along with a discussion of the 3D reconstruction capabilities of this type of detector. Several physics analyses with the prototype data are also discussed, including a study of stopping protons.
