Essential paths space on ADE SU(3) graphs: A geometric approach

For simply laced $SU(3)$ graphs we offer a geometric understanding of the path creation and annihilation operators for $SU(3)$ in terms of creation and annihilation of sequences of three vertices forming triangular cells or collapsed triangular cells. We prove that the space of paths of a given length can be decomposed as a direct sum of orthogonal sub-spaces constructed by recurrent applications of the path creation operator on subspaces of essential paths of shorter length.

Distillation of Bell states in open systems

In this work we review the entire classification of 2x2 distillable states for protocols with a finite numbers of copies. We show a distillation protocol that allows to distill Bell states with non zero probability at any time for an initial singlet in vacuum. It is shown that the same protocol used in non zero thermal baths yields a considerable recovering of entanglement.

On the dynamics of maximum extractable entanglement for open systems

In this work we study the dynamics of the maximum extractable entanglement for a system composed of two qubits interacting either with two independent thermal baths, a common thermal bath or a common squeezed bath. The states with maximum entanglement are found applying filtering operations which transform each state to a state in Bell diagonal form. We observe a revival of the maximum extractable entanglement for common baths. It is also shown that for some particular states in two independent baths at zero temperature, one can partially recover the initial entanglement at any time.

From modular invariants to graphs: the modular splitting method

We start with a given modular invariant M of a two dimensional su(n)_k conformal field theory (CFT) and present a general method for solving the Ocneanu modular splitting equation and then determine, in a step-by-step explicit construction, 1) the generalized partition functions corresponding to the introduction of boundary conditions and defect lines; 2) the quantum symmetries of the higher ADE graph G associated to the initial modular invariant M. Notice that one does not suppose here that the graph G is already known, since it appears as a by-product of the calculations. We analyze several su(3)_k exceptional cases at levels 5 and 9.
