COLIBRI (SVOM/FM-GFT): Instrumentation and Performances on the SVOM Alerts

COLIBRI, the French Mexican Ground Followup Telescope (FM GFT) for SVOM, is a 1.3 meter rapid response optical facility specifically developed for prompt, multiband observations of GRB afterglows and for delivering subarcsecond localisations of optical counterparts for detailed followup studies. The telescope operates through a fully automated system that manages the entire workflow, from alert reception to counterpart identification. Commissioning results confirm that the telescope meets design specifications, and this paper presents a comprehensive performance assessment of the capabilities.

Euclid: Methodology for derivation of IPC-corrected conversion gain of nonlinear CMOS APS

We introduce a fast method to measure the conversion gain in Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductors (CMOS) Active Pixel Sensors (APS), which accounts for nonlinearity and interpixel capacitance (IPC). The standard 'mean-variance' method is biased because it assumes pixel values depend linearly on signal, and existing methods to correct for nonlinearity are still introducing significant biases. While current IPC correction methods are prohibitively slow for a per-pixel application, our new method uses separate measurements of the IPC kernel to make an almost instantaneous calculation of gain. Validated using test data from a flight detector from the ESA Euclid mission, the IPC correction recovers the results of slower methods within 0.1% accuracy. Meanwhile the nonlinearity correction ensures an estimation of the gain that is independent of signal, correcting a bias of more than 2.5% on gain estimation.

Inferring astrophysics and cosmology with individual compact binary coalescences and their gravitational-wave stochastic background

Gravitational waves (GWs) from compact binary coalescences (CBCs) provide a new avenue to probe the cosmic expansion, in particular the Hubble constant $H_0$. The spectral sirens method is one of the most used techniques for GW cosmology. It consists of obtaining cosmological information from the GW luminosity distance, directly inferred from data, and the redshift that can be implicitly obtained from the source frame mass distribution of the CBC population. With GW detectors, populations of CBCs can be either observed as resolved individual sources or implicitly as a stochastic gravitational-wave background (SGWB) from the unresolved ones. In this manuscript, we study how resolved and unresolved sources of CBCs can be employed in the spectral siren framework to constrain cosmic expansion. The idea stems from the fact that the SGWB can constrain additional population properties of the CBCs thus potentially improving the measurement precision of the cosmic expansion parameters. We show that with a 5-detector network at O5-designed sensitivity, the inclusion of the SGWB will improve our ability to exclude low values of $H_0$ and the dark matter energy fraction $Ω_m$, while also improving the determination of a possible CBC peak in redshift. Although low values of $H_0$ and $Ω_m$ will be better constrained, we obtain that most on the precsion on $H_0$ will be provided by resolved spectral sirens. We also performed a spectral siren analysis for 59 resolved binary black hole sources detected during the third observing run with an inverse false alarm rate higher than 1 per year jointly with the SGWB. We obtain that with current sensitivities, the cosmological and population results are not impacted by the inclusion of the SGWB.

Euclid Near Infrared Spectro-Photometer: spatial considerations on H2RG detectors interpixel capacitance and IPC corrected conversion gain from on-ground characterization

Euclid is a major ESA mission scheduled for launch in 2023-2024 to map the geometry of the dark Universe using two primary probes, weak gravitational lensing and galaxy clustering. \Euclid's instruments, a visible imager (VIS) and an infrared spectrometer and photometer (NISP) have both been designed and built by Euclid Consortium teams. The NISP instrument will hold a large focal plane array of 16 near-infrared H2RG detectors, which are key elements to the performance of the NISP, and therefore to the science return of the mission. Euclid NISP H2RG flight detectors have been individually and thoroughly characterized at Centre de Physique des Particules de Marseille (CPPM) during a whole year with a view to producing a reference database of performance pixel maps. Analyses have been ongoing and have shown the relevance of taking into account spatial variations in deriving performance parameters. This paper will concentrate on interpixel capacitance (IPC) and conversion gain. First, per pixel IPC coefficient maps will be derived thanks to single pixel reset (SPR) measurements and a new IPC correction method will be defined and validated. Then, the paper will look into correlation effects of IPC and their impact on the derivation of per super-pixel IPC-free conversion gain maps. Eventually, several conversion gain values will be defined over clearly distinguishable regions.

The D0 Silicon Microstrip Tracker

This paper describes the mechanical design, the readout chain, the production, testing and the installation of the Silicon Microstrip Tracker of the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. In addition, description of the performance of the detector during the experiment data collection between 2001 and 2010 is provided.
