Interplay of the pseudo-Raman term and trapping potentials in the nonlinear Schroedinger equation

We introduce a nonlinear Schroedinger equation (NLSE) which combines the pseudo-stimulated-Raman-scattering (pseudo-SRS) term, i.e., a non-conservative cubic one with the first spatial derivative, and an external potential, which helps to stabilize solitons against the pseudo-SRS effect. Dynamics of solitons is addressed by means of analytical and numerical methods. The quasi-particle approximation (QPA) for the solitons demonstrates that the SRS-induced downshift of the soliton's wavenumber may be compensated by a potential force, producing a stable stationary soliton. Three physically relevant potentials are considered: a harmonic-oscillator (HO) trap, a spatially periodic cosinusoidal potential, and the HO trap subjected to periodic temporal modulation. Both equilibrium positions of trapped pulses (solitons) and their regimes of motion with trapped and free trajectories are accurately predicted by the QPA and corroborated by direct simulations of the underlying NLSE. In the case of the time-modulated HO trap, a parametric resonance is demonstrated, in the form of motion of the driven soliton with an exponentially growing amplitude of oscillations.

Soliton oscillations in the Zakharov-type system at arbitrary nonlinearity-dispersion ratio

The dynamics of two-component solitons with a small spatial displacement of the high-frequency (HF) component relative to the low-frequency (LF) one is investigated in the framework of the Zakharov-type system. In this system, the evolution of the HF field is governed by a linear Schrödinger equation with the potential generated by the LF field, while the LF field is governed by a Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation with an arbitrary dispersion-nonlinearity ratio and a quadratic term accounting for the HF feedback on the LF field. The oscillation frequency of the soliton's HF component relative to the LF one is found analytically. It is shown that the solitons are stable against small perturbations. The analytical results are confirmed by numerical simulations.

Vector solitons in coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations with spatial stimulated scattering and inhomogeneous dispersion

The dynamics of two-component solitons is studied, analytically and numerically, in the framework of a system of coupled extended nonlinear Schrödinger equations, which incorporate the cross-phase modulation, pseudo-stimulated-Raman-scattering (pseudo-SRS), cross-pseudo-SRS, and spatially inhomogeneous second-order dispersion (SOD). The system models co-propagation of electromagnetic waves with orthogonal polarizations in plasmas. It is shown that the soliton's wavenumber downshift, caused by pseudo-SRS, may be compensated by an upshift, induced by the inhomogeneous SOD, to produce stable stationary two-component solitons. The corresponding approximate analytical solutions for stable solitons are found. Analytical results are well confirmed by their numerical counterparts. Further, the evolution of inputs composed of spatially even and odd components is investigated by means of systematic simulations, which reveal three different outcomes: formation of a breather which keeps opposite parities of the components; splitting into a pair of separating vector solitons; and spreading of the weak odd component into a small-amplitude pedestal with an embedded dark soliton.

Study of the process $e^+e^-\to p\bar{p}$ in the c.m. energy range from threshold to 2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector

Using a data sample of 6.8 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider we select about 2700 events of the $e^+e^- \to p\bar{p}$ process and measure its cross section at 12 energy ponts with about 6\% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio $|G_{E}/G_{M}| = 1.49 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.30$.

Solitons in an extended nonlinear Schrödinger equation with third-order dispersion and pseudo-Raman effect

Dynamics of solitons is considered in an extended nonlinear Schrödinger equation, including a pseudo-stimulated-Raman-scattering (pseudo-SRS) term (scattering on damping low-frequency waves, third-order dispersion (TOD) and inhomogeneity of the spatial second-order dispersion (SOD). It is shown that wave-number downshift by the pseudo-SRS may be compensated by upshift provided by spatially increasing SOD with taking into account TOD. The equilibrium state is stable for positive parameter of TOD and unstable for negative one. The analytical solutions are verified by comparison with numerical results

Damped solitons in an extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation with a spatial stimulated Raman scattering and decreasing dispersion

Dynamics of solitons is considered in the framework of an extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE), which is derived from a system of the Zakharov's type for the interaction between high- and low-frequency (HF and LF) waves. The resulting NLSE includes a pseudo-stimulated-Raman-scattering (pseudo-SRS) term, i.e., a spatial-domain counterpart of the SRS term, which is a known ingredient of the temporal-domain NLSE in optics. Also included is inhomogeneity of the spatial second-order dispersion (SOD) and linear losses of HF waves. It is shown that wavenumber downshift by the pseudo-SRS may be compensated by upshift provided by SOD whose local strength is an exponentially decaying function of the coordinate. An analytical soliton solution with a permanent shape is found in an approximate form, and is verified by comparison with numerical results

Soliton dynamics in an extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation with a spatial counterpart of the stimulated Raman scattering

Dynamics of solitons is considered in the framework of the extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE), which is derived from a system of Zakharov's type for the interaction between high- and low-frequency (HF and LF) waves, in which the LF field is subject to diffusive damping. The model may apply to the propagation of HF waves in plasmas. The resulting NLSE includes a pseudo-stimulated-Raman-scattering (PSRS) term, i.e., a spatial-domain counterpart of the SRS term which is well known as an ingredient of the temporal-domain NLSE in optics. Also included is inhomogeneity of the spatial second-order diffraction (SOD). It is shown that the wavenumber downshift of solitons, caused by the PSRS, may be compensated by an upshift provided by the SOD whose coefficient is a linear function of the coordinate. An analytical solution for solitons is obtained in an approximate form. Analytical and numerical results agree well, including the predicted balance between the PSRS and the linearly inhomogeneous SOD.
