Solving the quantum non-linear Schrodinger equation with delta-type impurity

We establish the exact solution of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with a delta-function impurity, representing a point-like defect which reflects and transmits. We solve the problem both at the classical and the second quantized levels. In the quantum case the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra, familiar from the case without impurities, is substituted by the recently discovered reflection-transmission (RT) algebra, which captures both particle-particle and particle-impurity interactions. The off-shell quantum solution is expressed in terms of the generators of the RT algebra and the exact scattering matrix of the theory is derived.

Reflection-Transmission Quantum Yang-Baxter Equations

We explore the reflection-transmission quantum Yang-Baxter equations, arising in factorized scattering theory of integrable models with impurities. The physical origin of these equations is clarified and three general families of solutions are described in detail. Explicit representatives of each family are also displayed. These results allow to establish a direct relationship with the different previous works on the subject and make evident the advantages of the reflection-transmission algebra as an universal approach to integrable systems with impurities.

On sl(N) and sl(M|N) integrable open spin chains

We study open spin chains based on rational sl(N) and sl(M|N) R-matrices. We classify the solutions of the reflection equations, for both the soliton-preserving and soliton-non-preserving cases. We then write the Bethe equations for these open spin chains.

The quantum non-linear Schrodinger model with point-like defect

We establish a family of point-like impurities which preserve the quantum integrability of the non-linear Schrodinger model in 1+1 space-time dimensions. We briefly describe the construction of the exact second quantized solution of this model in terms of an appropriate reflection-transmission algebra. The basic physical properties of the solution, including the space-time symmetry of the bulk scattering matrix, are also discussed.

Integrable systems with impurity

After reviewing some basic properties of RT algebras, which appear to be the natural framework to deal with integrable systems in presence of an impurity, we show how any integrable system (including these possessing translation invariance) can be promoted to an integrable system with an impurity which can reflect and transmit particles. The technics allows bulk translation invariant $S$-matrices while avoiding the no-go theorem stated recently about these laters. Coideal subalgebras in quantum affine algebras

We introduce two subalgebras in the type A quantum affine algebra which are coideals with respect to the Hopf algebra structure. In the classical limit q -> 1 each subalgebra specializes to the enveloping algebra U(k), where k is a fixed point subalgebra of the loop algebra over gl_N with respect to a natural involution corresponding to the embedding of the orthogonal or symplectic Lie algebra into gl_N. We also give an equivalent presentation of these coideal subalgebras in terms of generators and defining relations which have the form of reflection-type equations. We provide evaluation homomorphisms from these algebras to the twisted quantized enveloping algebras introduced earlier by Gavrilik and Klimyk and by Noumi. We also construct an analog of the quantum determinant for each of the algebras and show that its coefficients belong to the center of the algebra. Their images under the evaluation homomorphism provide a family of central elements of the corresponding twisted quantized enveloping algebra.

Lax pair and super-Yangian symmetry of the non-linear super-Schrödinger equation

We consider a version of the non-linear Schrödinger equation with M bosons and N fermions. We first solve the classical and quantum versions of this equation, using a super-Zamolodchikov-Faddeev (ZF) algebra. Then we prove that the hierarchy associated to this model admits a super-Yangian Y(gl(M|N)) symmetry. We exhibit the corresponding (classical and quantum) Lax pairs. Finally, we construct explicitly the super-Yangian generators, in terms of the canonical fields on the one hand, and in terms of the ZF algebra generators on the other hand. The latter construction uses the well-bred operators introduced recently.

Quantum resolution of the nonlinear super-Schrodinger equation

We introduce a Z_2-graded version of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation that includes one fermion and one boson at the same time. This equation is shown to possess a supersymmetry which proves to be itself part of a super-Yangian symmetry based on gl(1|1). The solution exhibits a super version form of the classical Rosales solution. Then, we second quantize these results, and give a Lax pair formulation (based on gl(2|1)) for the model.

Reflection-Transmission Algebras

Inspired by factorized scattering from delta-type impurities in (1+1)-dimensional space-time, we propose and analyse a generalization of the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra. Distinguished elements of the new algebra, called reflection and transmission generators, encode the particle-impurity interactions. We describe in detail the underlying algebraic structure. The relative Fock representations are explicitly constructed and a general factorized scattering theory is developed in this framework.

W-superalgebras as truncation of super-Yangians

We show that some finite W-superalgebras based on gl(M|N) are truncation of the super-Yangian Y(gl(M|N)). In the same way, we prove that finite W-superalgebras based on osp(M|2n) are truncation of the twisted super-Yangians Y(gl(M|2n))^{+}. Using this homomorphism, we present these W-superalgebras in an R-matrix formalism, and we classify their finite-dimensional irreducible representations.

Super Yangian Y(osp(1|2)) and the Universal R-matrix of its Quantum Double

We present the Drinfel'd realisation of the super Yangian Y(osp(1|2)), including the explicit expression for the coproduct. We show in particular that it is necessary to introduce supplementary Serre relations. The construction of its quantum double is carried out. This allows us to give the universal R-matrix of DY(osp(1|2)).

Scattering in the Presence of a Reflecting and Transmitting Impurity

We investigate factorized scattering from a reflecting and transmitting impurity. Bulk scattering is non trivial, provided that the bulk scattering matrix depends separately on the spectral parameters of the colliding particles, and not only on their difference. We show that a specific extension of a boundary algebra encodes the underlying scattering theory. The total scattering operator is constructed in this framework and shown to be unitary.

Vertex operators for quantum groups and application to integrable systems

Starting with any R-matrix with spectral parameter, obeying the Yang-Baxter equation and a unitarity condition, we construct the corresponding infinite dimensional quantum group U_{R} in term of a deformed oscillators algebra A_R. The realization we present is an infinite series, very similar to a vertex operator. Then, considering the integrable hierarchy naturally associated to A_{R}, we show that U_{R} provides its integrals of motion. The construction can be applied to any infinite dimensional quantum group, e.g. Yangians or elliptic quantum groups. Taking as an example the R-matrix of Y(N), the Yangian based on gl(N), we recover by this construction the nonlinear Schrodinger equation and its Y(N) symmetry.

Quantum group symmetry of integrable systems with or without boundary

We present a construction of integrable hierarchies without or with boundary, starting from a single R-matrix, or equivalently from a ZF algebra. We give explicit expressions for the Hamiltonians and the integrals of motion of the hierarchy in term of the ZF algebra. In the case without boundary, the integrals of motion form a quantum group, while in the case with boundary they form a Hopf coideal subalgebra of the quantum group.

Twisted superYangians and their representations

Starting with the superYangian Y(M|N) based on gl(M|N), we define twisted superYangians Y^+(M|N) and Y^-(M|N). Only Y^+(M|2n) and Y^-(2m|N) can be defined, and appear to be isomorphic one with each other. We study their finite-dimensional irreducible highest weight representations.
