On the equipartition theorem and black holes nongaussian entropies

In this Letter we have shown that, from the standard thermodynamic functions, the mathematical form of an equipartition theorem may be related to the algebraic expression of a particular entropy initially chosen to describe the black hole thermodynamics. Namely, we have different equipartition expressions for distinct statistics. To this end, four different mathematical expressions for the entropy have been selected to demonstrate our objective. Furthermore, a possible phase transition is observed in the heat capacity behavior of the Tsallis and Cirto entropy model.

Non-Gaussian thermostatistical considerations upon the Saha equation

The Saha equation provides the relation between two consecutive ionization state populations, like the Maxwell-Boltzmann velocity distribution of the atoms in a gas ensemble. Saha equation can also consider the partitions functions for both states and its main application is in stellar astrophysics population statistics. This paper presents two non-Gaussian thermostatistical generalizations for the Saha equation: the first one towards the Tsallis nonextensive $q$-entropy and the other one is based upon Kaniadakis $κ$-statistics. Both thermostatistical formalisms are very successful when used in several complex astrophysical statistical systems and we have demonstrated here that they work also in Saha's ionization distribution. We have obtained new chemical $q$-potentials and their respective graphical regions with a well defined boundary that separated the two symmetric intervals for the $q$-potentials. The asymptotic behavior of the $q$-potential was also discussed. Besides the proton-electron, we have also investigated the complex atoms and pair production ionization reactions.

Thermodynamic aspects of dark energy fluids

In this paper we have investigated the limits imposed by thermodynamics on a dark energy fluid. We have obtained the heat capacities and the compressibilities for a dark energy fluid. The thermal and mechanical stabilities require these quantities to be positive. We have shown that dark energy fluids must satisfy the stability conditions and that such requirement put difficulties in the cosmic fluid models with negative constant EoS parameters. We have also shown that the observational constraints imposed by SN Ia, BAO and $H(z)$ data on a general dark energy fluid with a time-dependent EoS parameter are in conflict with the constraints imposed by thermodynamics. This result indicates that dark energy fluid models are unphysical.

The unphysical character of dark energy fluids

It is well known that, in the context of general relativity, an unknown kind of matter that must violate the strong energy condition is required to explain the current accelerated phase of expansion of the Universe. This unknown component is called dark energy and is characterized by an equation of state parameter $w=p/ρ<-1/3$. Thermodynamic stability requires that $3w-d\ln |w|/d\ln a\ge0$ and positiveness of entropy that $w\ge-1$. In this paper we proof that we cannot obtain a differentiable function $w(a)$ to represent the dark energy that satisfies these conditions trough the entire history of the Universe.

Entropic gravity from noncommutative black holes

In this paper we will investigate the effects of a noncommutative (NC) space-time on the dynamics of the universe. We will generalize the black hole entropy formula for a NC black hole. Then, using the entropic gravity formalism, we will show that the noncommutativity changes the strength of the gravitational field. By applying this result to a homogeneous and isotropic universe containing nonrelativistic matter and a cosmological constant, we will show that the model modified by the noncommutativity of the space-time is a better fit to the obtained data than the standard one.

Probing the cosmological viability of non-gaussian statistics

Based on the relationship between thermodynamics and gravity we propose, with the aid of Verlinde's formalism, an alternative interpretation of the dynamical evolution of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker Universe. This description takes into account the entropy and temperature intrinsic to the horizon of the universe due to the information holographically stored there through non-gaussian statistical theories proposed by Tsallis and Kaniadakis. The effect of these non-gaussian statistics in the cosmological context is change the strength of the gravitational constant. In this paper, we consider the $w$CDM model modified by the non-gaussian statistics and investigate the compatibility of these non-gaussian modification with the cosmological observations. In order to analyze in which extend the cosmological data constrain these non-extensive statistics, we use type Ia supernovae, baryon acoustic oscillations, Hubble expansion rate function and the linear growth of matter density perturbations data.

Dark energy models through nonextensive Tsallis' statistics

The accelerated expansion of the Universe is one of the greatest challenges of modern physics. One candidate to explain this phenomenon is a new field called dark energy. In this work we have used the Tsallis nonextensive statistical formulation of the Friedmann equation to explore the Barboza-Alcaniz and Chevalier-Polarski-Linder parametric dark energy models and the Wang-Meng and Dalal vacuum decay models. After that, we have discussed the observational tests and the constraints concerning the Tsallis nonextensive parameter.

Can Quantum Gravitational Effects Influence the Entire History of the Universe?

In this work, a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe with dust and a cosmological constant is quantized. By means of a canonical transformation, the classical Hamiltonian is reduced to that of either a harmonic oscillator or anti-oscillator, depending on whether $Λ<0$ or $Λ>0$, respectively. In this way exact solutions to the Wheeler-DeWitt equation can easily be obtained. It turns out that a positive cosmological constant alone may account for an early inflationary regime and a later accelerated expansion phase, with a period of decelerated expansion in between. This suggests that quantum gravitational effects can influence most of the history or even the entire history of the Universe.
