Relativistic bands in the discrete spectrum of created particles in an oscillating cavity

We investigate the dynamical Casimir effect for a one-dimensional resonant cavity, with one oscillating mirror. Specifically, we study the discrete spectrum of created particles in a region of frequencies above the oscillation frequency $ω_0$ of the mirror. We focus our investigation on an oscillation time equal to $2L_0/c$, where $L_0$ is the initial and final length of the cavity, and $c$ is the speed of light. For this oscillation duration, a field mode, after perturbed by the moving mirror, never meets this mirror in motion again, which allows us to exclude this effect of re-interaction on the particle creation process. Then, we describe the evolution of the particle creation with frequencies above $ω_0$ only as a function of the relativistic aspect of the mirror's velocity. In other words, we analyze the formation of relativistic bands in a discrete spectrum of created particles.

Quantum radiation reaction force on a one-dimensional cavity with two relativistic moving mirrors

We consider a real massless scalar field inside a cavity with two moving mirrors in a two-dimensional spacetime, satisfying Dirichlet boundary condition at the instantaneous position of the boundaries, for arbitrary and relativistic laws of motion. Considering vacuum as the initial field state, we obtain formulas for the exact value of the energy density of the field and the quantum force acting on the boundaries, which extend results found in previous papers. For the particular cases of a cavity with just one moving boundary, non-relativistic velocities, or in the limit of infinity length of the cavity (a single mirror), our results coincide with those found in the literature.

Time evolution of the energy density inside a non-static cavity with a thermal, coherent and a Schrodinger cat state

In this paper we investigate the time evolution of the energy density for a real massless scalar field in a two-dimensional spacetime, inside a non-static cavity, taking as basis the exact numerical approach purposed by Cole and Schieve. Considering Neunmann and Dirichlet boundary conditions, we investigate the following initial states of the field: vacuum, thermal state, the coherent state and the Schrodinger cat state.

Exact solution for the energy density inside a one-dimensional non-static cavity with an arbitrary initial field state

We study the exact solution for the energy density of a real massless scalar field in a two-dimensional spacetime, inside a non-static cavity with an arbitrary initial field state, taking into account the Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions. This work generalizes the exact solution proposed by Cole and Schieve in the context of the Dirichlet boundary condition and vacuum as the initial state. We investigate diagonal states, examining the vacuum and thermal field as particular cases. We also study non-diagonal initial field states, taking as examples the coherent and Schrodinger cat states.

Quantum radiation force on a moving mirror with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions at vacuum, finite temperature and coherent states

We consider a real massless scalar field in a two-dimensional spacetime, satisfying Dirichlet or Neumann boundary condition at the instantaneous position of a moving boundary. For a relativistic law of motion, we show that Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions yield the same radiation force on a moving mirror when the initial field state is invariant under time translations. We obtain the exact formulas for the energy density of the field and the radiation force on the boundary for vacuum, thermal and coherent state. In the nonrelativistic limit, our results coincide with those found in the literature.
