Quark-antiquark potential from a deformed AdS/QCD

In this work we calculate the static limit of the energy for a quark-antiquark pair from the Nambu-Goto action using a holographic approach with a deformed AdS space, with warp factor $\exp\{(κz)^n/n\}$. From this energy we derive the Cornell potential for the quark-antiquark interaction. We also find a range of values for our parameters which fits exactly the Cornell potential parameters. In particular, setting the zero energy of the Cornell potential at 0.33 fermi, we find that $κ=0.56$ GeV and $n=1.3$.

Chiral Symmetry Breaking and Restoration in (2+1) Dimensions from Holography: Magnetic and Inverse Magnetic Catalysis

We study the chiral symmetry breaking and restoration in $ (2+1) $-dimensional gauge theories from the holographic hard and softwall models. We describe the behavior of the chiral condensate in the presence of an external magnetic field for both models at finite temperature. For the hardwall model we find Magnetic Catalysis (MC) in different set ups. For the softwall model we find Inverse Magnetic Catalysis (IMC) and MC in different situations. We also find for the softwall model a crossover transition from IMC to MC at a pseudocritical magnetic field. This study also shows spontaneous symmetry breaking for both models. Interestingly, for $B=0$ in the softwall model we found a nontrivial expectation value for the chiral condensate.

Scalar and higher even spin glueball masses from an anomalous modified holographic model

In this work, within an anomalous modified holographic softwall model, we calculate analytically the masses of the scalar glueball with its radial excitations and higher even glueball spin states, with $P=C=+1$, from a single mass equation. Using this approach we achieved an unified treatment for both scalar and high even spin glueballs masses. Furthermore, we also obtain the Regge trajectory associated with the pomeron compatible with other approaches.

Magnetic catalysis and inverse magnetic catalysis in (2+1)-dimensional gauge theories from holographic models

We study the deconfinement phase transition in $ (2+1) $-dimensional holographic $ SU(N) $ gauge theories in the presence of an external magnetic field from the holographic hard and soft wall models. We obtain exact solutions for the critical temperature of the deconfinement transition for any range of magnetic field. As a consequence, we find a critical magnetic field $(B_c)$, in which the critical temperature $(T_c)$ vanishes; for $B B_c $ we have a magnetic catalysis.

Dynamical Versions to the Holographic Softwall Model: Using Type IIB Superstring Backgrounds via AdS/CFT Correspondence in Hadronic Physics

In this paper we will show some applications achieved within type IIB superstring backgrounds since the emergence of the AdS/CFT correspondence. This correspondence relates a super Yang-Mills (SYM) theory, with strong coupling, and a type IIB superstring theory, with weak coupling. The use of the AdS/CFT correspondence allows us to investigate many aspects of hadronic physics described by QCD outside the perturbative regime, for example, glueball masses and the Regge trajectories related to the pomeron and the odderon. Throughout the text we will deal with the AdS/CFT correspondence within the two dynamical versions to the holographic softwall model.

Deconfinement phase transition in a magnetic field in 2+1 dimensions from holographic models

Using two different models from holographic quantum chromodynamics (QCD) we study the deconfinement phase transition in $2+1$ dimensions in the presence of a magnetic field. Working in 2+1 dimensions lead us to {\sl exact} solutions on the magnetic field, in contrast with the case of 3+1 dimensions where the solutions on the magnetic field are perturbative. As our main result we predict a critical magnetic field $B_c$ where the deconfinement critical temperature vanishes. For weak fields meaning $B B_c$ we find that the critical temperature raises with growing field showing a magnetic catalysis (MC). These results for IMC and MC are in agreement with the literature.

Twist Two Operator Approach for Even Spin Glueball Masses and Pomeron Regge Trajectory from the Hardwall Model

We compute the masses of even spin glueball states $ J^{PC} $, with $ P=C=+1 $, using a twist two operator from an AdS/QCD model known as the hardwall model, using Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. Within this approach, we found that the glueball masses are comparable with those in literature. From these masses, we obtained the Pomeron Regge trajectories for both boundary conditions in agreement with experimental data available and other holographic models.

Pomeron and Odderon Regge Trajectories from a Dynamical Holographic Model

In this work we use gauge/string dualities and a dynamical model that takes into account dynamical corrections to the metric of the anti de Sitter space due to a quadratic dilaton field and calculate the masses of even and odd spin glueball states with $P=C=+1$, and $P=C=-1$, respectively. Then we construct the corresponding Regge trajectories which are associated with the pomeron for even states with $P=C=+1$, and with the odderon for odd states with $P=C=-1$. We compare our results with those coming from experimental data as well as other models.

Teaching Physics in the first years of Elementary School to children with ADHD

In this paper we report on a Science Fair activity developed at Colegio Pedro II, a traditional Brazilian school, with a group of eight 8-12 years old Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) students. ADHD is usually a condition associated with underachievement at school. As part of working toward scientific literacy for students, we explored the idea of conservation of energy based on STS paradigm. At the same time, the learning experience was designed to stimulate children's poor executive function, or, more specifically, their ability to manage time and planning future tasks.

Dynamical corrections to the anomalous holographic softwall model: the pomeron and the odderon

In this work we use the holographic softwall AdS/QCD model with anomalous dimension contributions coming from two different QCD beta functions to calculate the masses of higher spin glueball states for both even and odd spins and its respective Regge trajectories, related to the pomeron and the odderon, respectively. We further investigate this model taking into account dynamical corrections due to a dilaton potential consistent with Einstein equations in 5 dimensions. The results found in this work for the Regge trajectories within the anomalous softwall model with dynamical corrections are consistent with those presented in the literature.

Glueball spectra and Regge trajectories from a modified holographic softwall model

In this work we propose a modified holographic softwall model, analytically solvable, to calculate the masses of lightest scalar glueball and its radial excitations and of higher spin glueball states for both even and odd spins. From these results we obtain their respective Regge trajectories, associated with the pomeron for even spins and with the odderon for odd spins. These results are in agreement with those calculated using other approaches.

Deep Inelastic Scattering in the Exponentially Small Bjorken Parameter Regime from the Holographic Softwall Model

We use the AdS/CFT correspondence and the holographic softwall model to investigate the Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) in the exponentially small $x$ (Bjorken Parameter) regime. We calculate the corresponding structure functions for scalar fields. Using these results we studied the problem of the saturation line in the strong interactions. Our results are consistent with those achieved using other models.
