Nonlinear Stability of 3D Muskat Bubbles

This paper studies the three-dimensional Muskat problem for two immiscible fluids in a porous medium subject to gravity and surface tension. We consider the setting in which one fluid forms a bounded bubble surrounded by the other. For any value of the physical parameters, we prove the global-in-time nonlinear asymptotic stability of a translating spherical bubble for small initial perturbations in the critical Lipschitz class. This enlarges the class of critical spaces considered in previous two-dimensional bubble results. The proof combines spectral analysis of the linearized operator on $\mathbb{S}^2$ with multilinear singular integral estimates that exploit a crucial null structure in the nonlinear terms.

On the global asymptotic stability for the 3D Peskin Problem at critical regularity

We prove global well-posedness and asymptotic stability for the three-dimensional Peskin problem, which models a closed, elastic membrane immersed in an incompressible Stokes fluid. We work with initial data in the optimal regularity space $W^{1,\infty}(\mathbb{S}^2)$, which may contain infinitely many corners. These initial configurations are instantly desingularized by the flow's parabolic smoothing effect, becoming smooth for all $t > 0$. Then we establish that the solutions converge exponentially in the $C^1$ topology to a translated and dilated conformal sphere. The stability is achieved by combining our nonlinear estimates with an exact structural decoupling of the 10-dimensional manifold of conformal steady states, demonstrating that the infinite-dimensional dissipative perturbation is strictly controlled. The core of our analysis is a functional framework on the sphere $\mathbb{S}^2$ that uses spectral Littlewood-Paley projections to control the highly singular multilinear operators arising from the fluid nonlinearity

On 2D Navier-Stokes free boundary: nonnegative density and small viscosity contrast

This paper is concerned with the evolution of two incompressible, immiscible fluids in two dimensions governed by the inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes equations. We prove global-in-time well-posedness, establishing the preservation of the natural $C^{1+γ}$ Hölder regularity of the free boundary, for $0<γ<1$. This is the first result that allows for nonnegative density driven by a low-regularity initial velocity, while also remaining valid in the presence of a small viscosity jump.

The Immersed Inextensible Interface Problem in 2D Stokes Flow

We study the dynamics of an inextensible, closed interface subject to bending forces and immersed in a two-dimensional and incompressible Stokes fluid. We formulate the problem as a boundary integral equation in terms of the tangent angle and demonstrate the well-posedness in suitable time-weighted spaces of the resulting nonlinear and nonlocal system. The solution is furthermore shown to be smooth for positive times. Numerical computations are performed to initiate the study of the long-time behavior of the interface.

On Nonlinear Stability of Muskat Bubbles

In this paper we consider gravity-capillarity Muskat bubbles in 2D. We obtain a new approach to improve our result in [25]. Due to a new bubble-adapted formulation, the improvement is two fold. We significantly condense the proof and we now obtain the global well-posedness result for Muskat bubbles in critical regularity.

Critical well-posedness for the 2D Peskin problem with general tension

In this paper, we study the two dimensional Peskin problem with general elasticity law. Specifically, we prove global regularity for small perturbations, in suitable critical spaces, of the circle solution, possibly containing corners. For such initial data we prove asymptotic stability in the sense that as $t\to\infty$, the solution converges to a translated and rotated disk.

Desingularization of small moving corners for the Muskat equation

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of solutions of the Muskat equation with initial interface consisting of multiple corners allowing for linear growth at infinity. Specifically, we prove that if the initial data contains a finite set of small corners then we can find a precise description of the solution showing how these corners desingularize and move at the same time. At the analytical level, we are solving a small data critical problem which requires renormalization. This is accomplished using a nonlinear change of variables which serves as a logarithmic correction and accurately describes the motion of the corners during the evolution.

Well-Posedness of the 3D Peskin Problem

This paper introduces the 3D Peskin problem: a two-dimensional elastic membrane immersed in a three-dimensional steady Stokes flow. We obtain the equations that model this free boundary problem and show that they admit a boundary integral reduction, providing an evolution equation for the elastic interface. We consider general nonlinear elastic laws, i.e., the fully nonlinear Peskin problem, and prove that the problem is well-posed in low-regularity Hölder spaces. Moreover, we prove that the elastic membrane becomes smooth instantly in time.

Regularity results for viscous 3D Boussinesq temperature fronts

This paper is about the dynamics of non-diffusive temperature fronts evolving by the incompressible viscous Boussinesq system in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We provide local in time existence results for initial data of arbitrary size. Furthermore, we show global in time propagation of regularity for small initial data in critical spaces. The developed techniques allow to consider general fronts where the temperature is piecewise Hölder (not necessarily constant), which preserve their structure together with the regularity of the evolving interface.
