On convex hulls and pseudoconvex domains generated by $q$-plurisubharmonic functions, part III

We characterise in this work the $q$-plurisubharmonic functions in terms of the theory of viscosity solutions. We show that an upper semicontinuous function is $q$-plurisubharmonic if and only if its complex Hessian has at most $q$ strictly negative eigenvalues in the viscosity sense. This characterisation is then used to prove that the supremum convolution of a (strictly) $q$-plurisubharmonic function is again (strictly) $q$-plurisubharmonic on a maybe different set of definition. Finally, we use the supremum convolution to deduce a new characterisation for the $q$-pseudoconvex subsets in $\mathbb{C}^n$.

Superposition and time delay are incompatible between them

We analyse the properties of wave functions $ψ(x,t;y,s)$ that depend at once on two time-position vectors $(x,t)$ and $(y,s)$ with different time entries $t\neq{s}$. In particular, we prove that the existence of such wave functions is indeed incompatible with the superposition property and the technique of separation of variables.

Lp-norms, Log-barriers and Cramer transform in Optimization

We show that the Laplace approximation of a supremum by Lp-norms has interesting consequences in optimization. For instance, the logarithmic barrier functions (LBF) of a primal convex problem P and its dual appear naturally when using this simple approximation technique for the value function g of P or its Legendre-Fenchel conjugate. In addition, minimizing the LBF of the dual is just evaluating the Cramer transform of the Laplace approximation of g. Finally, this technique permits to sometimes define an explicit dual problem in cases when the Legendre-Fenchel conjugate of g cannot be derived explicitly from its definition.

An explicit d-bar-integration formula for weighted homogeneous varieties II: forms of higher degree

Let Y be a weighted homogeneous (singular) subvariety of C^n. The main objective of this paper is to present a class of explicit integral formulae for solving the d-bar-equation $ω=\dbarλ$ on the regular part of Y, where $ω$ is a d-bar-closed (0,q)-form with compact support and degree q>=1. Particular cases of these formulae yield L^p-bounded solution operators for $1<=p<=\infty$ if Y is a homogeneous and pure dimensional subvariety with an arbitrary singular locus.

An explicit d-bar-integration formula for weighted homogeneous varieties

Let Y be a weighted homogeneous (singular) subvariety of C^n. The main objective of this paper is to present an explicit formula for solving the d-bar-equation $f=\dbar{g}$ on the regular part of Y, where $f$ is a d-bar-closed $(0,1)$-form with compact support. This formula will then be used to give Hölder estimates for the solution in case $Y$ is homogeneous (a cone) with an isolated singularity. Finally, a slight modification of our formula also gives an $L^2$-bounded solution operator in case Y is pure dimensional and homogeneous.

Explicit Formula for Counting Lattice Points of Polyhedra

Given $z\in C^n$ and $A\in Z^{m\times n}$, we consider the problem of evaluating the counting function $h(y;z):=\sum\{z^x : x\in Z^n; Ax=y, x\geq 0\}$. We provide an explicit expression for $h(y;z)$ as well as an algorithm with possibly numerous but very simple calculations. In addition, we exhibit finitely many fixed convex cones, explicitly and exclusively defined by $A$, such that for any $y\in Z^m$, the sum $h(y;z)$ can be obtained by a simple formula involving the evaluation of $\sum z^x$ over the integral points of those cones only. At last, we also provide an alternative (and different) formula from a decomposition of the generating function into simpler rational fractions, easy to invert.

Approximation and the topology of rationally convex sets

Considering a mapping g holomorphic on a neighbourhood of a rationally convex set K in $C^n$, and range into the complex projective space $P^m$, the main objective of this paper is to show that we can uniformly approximate g on K by rational mappings defined from $C^n$ into $P^m$. We only need to ask that the second Cech cohomology group $\check{H}^2(K)$ vanishes.
