End-to-end Generative Zero-shot Learning via Few-shot Learning

Contemporary state-of-the-art approaches to Zero-Shot Learning (ZSL) train generative nets to synthesize examples conditioned on the provided metadata. Thereafter, classifiers are trained on these synthetic data in a supervised manner. In this work, we introduce Z2FSL, an end-to-end generative ZSL framework that uses such an approach as a backbone and feeds its synthesized output to a Few-Shot Learning (FSL) algorithm. The two modules are trained jointly. Z2FSL solves the ZSL problem with a FSL algorithm, reducing, in effect, ZSL to FSL. A wide class of algorithms can be integrated within our framework. Our experimental results show consistent improvement over several baselines. The proposed method, evaluated across standard benchmarks, shows state-of-the-art or competitive performance in ZSL and Generalized ZSL tasks.

Antimony doped Tin Oxide/Polyethylenimine Electron Selective Contact for reliable and light soaking-free high Performance Inverted Organic Solar Cells

We have demonstrated a high-performance low temperature solution processed electron selective contact consisting of 10 at% antimony doped tin oxide (ATO) and the neutral polymer polyethylenimine (PEI). Inverted organic photovoltaics (OPVs) utilizing ATO/PEI as electron selective contact exhibited high power conversion efficiencies for both the reference P3HT: PCBM and the non-fullerene based P3HT- IDTBR active layer OPV material systems. Importantly it is shown that the proposed ATO/PEI carrier selective contact provides light soaking-free inverted OPVs. Furthermore, by increasing the thickness of ATO layer from 40 to 120 nm the power conversion efficiency of the corresponding inverted OPVs remain unaffected a parameter which indicates the potential of the proposed ATO/PEI carrier selective contact for high performance light-soaking-free and reliable roll-to-roll printing solutions processed inverted OPVs.

Influence of the Hole Transporting Layer on the Thermal Stability of Inverted Organic Photovoltaics Using Accelerated Heat Lifetime Protocols

High power conversion efficiency (PCE) inverted organic photovoltaics (OPVs) usually use thermally evaporated MoO3 as a hole transporting layer (HTL). Despite the high PCE values reported, stability investigations are still limited and the exact degradation mechanisms of inverted OPVs using thermally evaporated MoO3 HTL remain unclear under different environmental stress factors. In this study, we monitor the accelerated lifetime performance of non-encapsulated inverted OPVs using thiophene-based active layer materials and evaporated MoO3 under the ISOS D-2 protocol (heat conditions 65 °C). The investigation of degradation mechanisms presented focus on optimized P3HT:PC[70]BM-based inverted OPVs. Specifically, we present a systematic study on the thermal stability of inverted P3HT:PC[70]BM OPVs using solution processed PEDOT:PSS and evaporated MoO3 HTL. Using a series of measurements and reverse engineering methods we report that the P3HT:PC[70]BM/MoO3 interface is the main origin of failure of P3HT:PC[70]BM-based inverted OPVs under intense heat conditions.

The influence of additives in the stoichiometry of hybrid lead halide perovskites

We investigate the employment of carefully selected solvent additives in the processing of a commercial perovskite precursor ink and analyze their impact on the performance of organometal trihalide perovskite photovoltaic devices. We provide evidence that the use of benzaldehyde can be used as an effective method to preserve the stoichiometry of the perovskite precursors in solution. Benzaldehyde based additive engineering shows to improve perovskite solid state film morphology and device performance of trihalide perovskite based solar cells.
