Electroweak phase transition and Higgs boson couplings in the model based on supersymmetric strong dynamics

We discuss a strongly-coupled extended Higgs sector with the 126 GeV Higgs boson, which is a low-energy effective theory of the supersymmetric SU(2)$_H$ gauge thoery that causes confinement. In this effective theory, we study the parameter region where electroweak phase transition is of strongly first order, as required for successful electroweak baryogenesis. In such a parameter region, the model has a Landau pole at the order of 10 TeV, which corresponds to the confinement scale of the SU(2)$_H$ gauge theory. We find that the large coupling constant which blows up at the Landau pole results in large non-decoupling loop effects on low-energy observables, such as the Higgs-photon-photon vertex and the triple Higgs boson vertex. As phenomenological consequences of electroweak baryogenesis in our model, the Higgs-to-diphoton branching ratio is about 20% smaller while the triple Higgs boson coupling is more than about 20% larger than the standard model predictions. Such deviations may be detectable in future collider experiments.

Two-loop effective potential, thermal resummation and first-order phase transitions: Beyond the high-temperature expansion

We study a finite temperature two-loop resummed effective potential in the Abelian gauge theory. A tractable calculation scheme without using a high-temperature expansion is devised. We apply it to the Abelian-Higgs model and its extension to a minimal supersymmetric standard model-like model and study the thermal phase transition. It is shown that our scheme improves the previous results about 10% in the quantities relevant to the phase transition, and its impacts on bubble dynamics could be even more sizable. It still holds that the stop-stop-gluon sunset diagram enhances the strength of the first-order phase transition even without the high-temperature expansion.

Hidden sector dark matter and Higgs physics

We consider a hidden sector dark matter, where a singlet fermion is a cold dark matter and a real singlet scalar boson $S$ is a messenger between the SM and the hidden sectors. This singlet scalar will mix with the SM Higgs boson $h$, and we expect there are two Higgs-like scalar bosons $H_1$ and $H_2$. Imposing all the relevant constraints from collider search bounds on Higgs boson, DM scattering cross section on proton and thermal relic density. We find that there is a destructive interference between $H_1$ and $H_2$ contributions to the direct detection cross section of the DM. Also one of the two Higgs-like scalar bosons can easily escape the detections at the LHC, and there will be a universal reduction of the signal strength for the observed 125 GeV Higgs-like boson, which could be tested at the LHC with more data in the future.

Vacuum structure and stability of a singlet fermion dark matter model with a singlet scalar messenger

We consider the issue of vacuum stability and triviality bound of the singlet extension of the Standard Model (SM) with a singlet fermion dark matter (DM). In this model, the singlet scalar plays the role of a messenger between the SM sector and the dark matter sector. This model has two Higgs-like scalar bosons, and is consistent with all the data on electroweak precision tests, thermal relic density of DM and its direct detection constraints. We show that this model is stable without hitting Landau pole up to Planck scale for 125 GeV Higgs boson. We also perform a comprehensive study of vacuum structure, and point out that a region where electroweak vacuum is the global minimum is highly limited. In this model, both Higgs-like scalar bosons have reduced couplings to the SM weak gauge bosons and the SM fermions, because of the mixing between the SM Higgs boson and the singlet scalar. There is also a possibility of their invisible decay(s) into a pair of DM's. Therefore this model would be disfavored if the future data on the $(σ\cdot B)_{VV}$ or $(σ\cdot B)_{f\bar{f}}$ with $V=γ,W,Z$ and $f=b, τ$ turn out larger than the SM predictions.

Decoupling Property of SUSY Extended Higgs Sectors and Implication for Electroweak Baryogenesis

One-loop contributions to the Higgs potential at finite temperatures are discussed in the supersymmetric standard model with four Higgs doublet chiral superfields as well as a pair of charged singlet chiral superfields. The mass of the lightest Higgs boson $h$ is determined only by the D-term at the tree-level in this model, while the triple Higgs boson coupling for $hhh$ can receive a significant radiative correction. The same nondecoupling effect can also contribute to realize the sufficient first order electroweak phase transition, which is required for a successful scenario of electroweak baryogenesis. This model can be a new candidate for a model in which the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is explained at the electroweak scale. We also discuss the implication for the measurement of the triple Higgs boson coupling at the ILC.

Singlino-driven Electroweak Baryogenesis in the Next-to-MSSM

We explore a new possibility of electroweak baryogenesis in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. In this model, a strong first-order electroweak phase transition can be achieved due to the additional singlet Higgs field. The new impact of its superpartner (singlino) on the baryon asymmetry is investigated by employing the closed-time-path formalism. We find that the CP violating source term fueled by the singlino could be large enough to generate the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe without any conflicts with the current constraints from the non-observation of the Thallium, neutron and Mercury electric dipole moments.

First-order electroweak phase transition powered by additional F-term loop effects in an extended supersymmetric Higgs sector

We investigate the one-loop effect of new charged scalar bosons on the Higgs potential at finite temperatures in the supersymmetric standard model with four Higgs doublet chiral superfields as well as a pair of charged singlet chiral superfields. In this model, the mass of the lightest Higgs boson $h$ is determined only by the D-term in the Higgs potential at the tree-level, while the triple Higgs boson coupling for $hhh$ can receive a significant radiative correction due to nondecoupling one-loop contributions of the additional charged scalar bosons. We find that the same nondecoupling mechanism can also contribute to realize stronger first order electroweak phase transition than that in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, which is definitely required for a successful scenario of electroweak baryogenesis. Therefore, this model can be a new candidate for a model in which the baryon asymmetry of the Universe is explained at the electroweak scale.

Higgs Mediated EDMs in the Next-to-MSSM: An Application to Electroweak Baryogenesis

We perform a study on the predictions of electric-dipole moments (EDMs) of neutron, Mercury (Hg), Thallium (Tl), deuteron, and Radium (Ra) in the framework of next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) with CP-violating parameters in the superpotential and soft-supersymmetry-breaking sector. We confine to the case in which only the physical tree-level CP phase $(ϕ'_λ- ϕ'_κ)$, associated with the couplings of the singlet terms in the superpotential and with the vacuum-expectation-values (VEVs), takes on a nonzero value. We found that the one-loop contributions from neutralinos are mostly small while the two-loop Higgs-mediated contributions of the Barr-Zee (BZ) type diagrams dominate. We emphasize a scenario motivated by electroweak baryogenesis.

The Top Window for dark matter

We investigate a scenario that the top quark is the only window to the dark matter particle. We use the effective Lagrangian approach to write down the interaction between the top quark and the dark matter particle. Requiring the dark matter satisfying the relic density we obtain the size of the effective interaction. We show that the scenario can be made consistent with the direct and indirect detection experiments by adjusting the size of the effective coupling. Finally, we calculate the production cross section for $t\bar t + χ\bar χ$ at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which will give rise to an interesting signature of a top-pair plus large missing energy.

Higgs Boson Sector of the Next-to-MSSM with CP Violation

We perform a comprehensive study of the Higgs sector in the framework of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model with CP-violating parameters in the superpotential and in the soft-supersymmetry-breaking sector. Since the CP is no longer a good symmetry, the two CP-odd and the three CP-even Higgs bosons of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model in the CP-conserving limit will mix. We show explicitly how the mass spectrum and couplings to gauge bosons of the various Higgs bosons change when the CP-violating phases take on nonzero values. We include full one-loop and the logarithmically enhanced two-loop effects employing the renormalization-group (RG) improved approach. In addition, the LEP limits, the global minimum condition, and the positivity of the square of the Higgs-boson mass have been imposed. We demonstrate the effects on the Higgs-mass spectrum and the couplings to gauge bosons with and without the RG-improved corrections. Substantial modifications to the allowed parameter space happen because of the changes to the Higgs-boson spectrum and their couplings with the RG-improved corrections. Finally, we calculate the mass spectrum and couplings of the few selected scenarios and compare to the previous results in literature where possible; in particular, we illustrate a scenario motivated by electroweak baryogenesis.

Electroweak phase transitions in the secluded U(1)-prime-extended MSSM

The electroweak phase transition (EWPT) in the secluded-$U(1)'$-extended MSSM (sMSSM) is studied. Using the effective potential at zero and finite temperatures, we search for the non-MSSM-like EWPT in which the light stop mass is larger than the top quark mass. Scanning the parameters relevant to the EWPT, the upper limits of the Higgs boson masses, which are consistent with the strong first order EWPT, are derived. For the lightest CP-even and -odd Higgs bosons, we find $m_{H_1}<160$ GeV and $m_{A_1}<250$ GeV, respectively. In the sMSSM, the tree-level CP violation is possible by the complex soft supersymmetry breaking masses. It is observed that such a CP-violating effect does not spoil the strong first order EWPT for the typical parameter sets.

Electroweak phase transition, critical bubbles and sphaleron decoupling condition in the MSSM

The electroweak phase transition and the sphaleron decoupling condition in the MSSM are revisited taking the latest experimental data into account. The light Higgs boson scenario and the ordinary decoupling limit which are classified by the relative size between the CP-odd Higgs boson mass and Z boson mass are considered within the context of electroweak baryogenesis. We investigate v/T at not only the critical temperature at which the effective potential has two degenerate minima but also the nucleation temperature of the critical bubbles, where v is a vacuum expectation value of the Higgs boson and T denotes a temperature. It is found that v/T at the nucleation temperature can be enhanced by about 10% compared to that at the critical temperature. We also evaluate the sphaleron decoupling condition including the zero mode factors of the fluctuations around sphaleron. It is observed that the sphaleron decoupling condition at the nucleation temperature is given by v/T>1.38 for the typical parameter sets. In any phenomenologically allowed region, v/T at both the critical and nucleation temperatures cannot be large enough to satisfy such a sphaleron decoupling condition.

CP violation in the secluded U(1)'-extended MSSM

We study the Higgs sector of the secluded $U(1)'$-extended MSSM (sMSSM) focusing on CP violation. Using the one-loop effective potential that includes contributions from quarks and squarks in the third generation, we search for the allowed region under theoretical and experimental constraints. It is found that the possible region for the electroweak vacuum to exist is quite limited, depending on the parameters in the model. The masses and couplings of the Higgs bosons are calculated with/without CP violation. Even at the tree level, CP violation is possible by complex soft SUSY breaking masses. Similar to the CPX scenario in the MSSM, the scalar-pseudoscalar mixing enables the lightest Higgs boson mass to become smaller than the $Z$ boson mass while the coupling with the $Z$ boson is sufficiently suppressed to avoid the LEP experimental constraints. However, unlike the CPX scenario, large $μ$ and $A$ are not required for the realization of large CP violation. The typical spectrum of the SUSY particles is thus different. We also investigate the possible upper bound of the lightest Higgs boson in the case of spontaneous CP violation. The maximal value of it can reach above 100 GeV with maximal CP-violating phases.

Update analysis of two-body charmed $B$ meson decays

The charmed B decays, $B\to DP, ~D^*P$ and $DV$, are re-analyzed using the latest experimental data, where $P$ and $V$ denote the pseudoscalar meson and vector meson, respectively. We perform global fits under the assumption of flavor SU(3) symmetry. The size of the decay amplitudes and the strong phases between the topologically distinct amplitudes are studied. Predictions of the related $B_s$ decay rates are made based upon the fitted results. We also note a serious SU(3) symmetry breaking or inconsistency in the $DV$ sector.

Electroweak baryogenesis and the triple Higgs boson coupling

We study collider signatures of electroweak baryogenesis in the two Higgs doublet model and the minimal supersymmetric standard model. It is found that the trilinear coupling of the lightest Higgs boson receives large quantum corrections if the electroweak phase transition is strongly first order for successful baryogenesis. In the two Higgs doublet model, the magnitude of the deviation from the standard model value is shown to be larger than 10 percent. Such a deviation can be detected at a future electron-positron linear collider.

Electroweak baryogenesis and quantum corrections to the triple Higgs boson coupling

A phenomenological consequence of electroweak baryogenesis is studied in connection with the Higgs physics. In a two Higgs double model, the first order phase transition can be strong enough to allow the electroweak baryogenesis due to the effect of extra Higgs bosons. We investigate the quantum correction to the triple coupling of the lightest Higgs boson in such a scenario, and find that the condition of the strong first order phase transition necessarily leads to the deviation of at least 10 percent from the standard model prediction. Such magnitude of the deviation can be identified in future $e^+e^-$ linear collider experiments. We also discuss the minimal supersymmetric standard model with the light stop scenario, and point out that a sizable correction appears in the triple coupling for successful electroweak baryogenesis.

New physics from Higgs self-coupling measurement

Radiative correction to the triple Higgs boson coupling is studied in the two Higgs doublet model in connection with the electroweak baryogenesis. It is shown that the one loop correction is large enough to be identified in future linear collider experiments, if the baryon number of the Universe is generated at the first order electroweak phase transition.

Higgs coupling constants as a probe of new physics

We study new physics effects on the couplings of weak gauge bosons with the lightest CP-even Higgs boson ($h$), $hZZ$, and the tri-linear coupling of the lightest Higgs boson, $hhh$, at the one loop order, as predicted by the two Higgs doublet model. Those renormalized coupling constants can deviate from the Standard Model (SM) predictions due to two distinct origins; the tree level mixing effect of Higgs bosons and the quantum effect of additional particles in loop diagrams. The latter can be enhanced in the renormalized $hhh$ coupling constant when the additional particles show the non-decoupling property. Therefore, even in the case where the $hZZ$ coupling is close to the SM value, deviation in the $hhh$ coupling from the SM value can become as large as plus 100 percent, while that in the $hZZ$ coupling is at most minus 1 percent level. Such large quantum effect on the Higgs tri-linear coupling is distinguishable from the tree level mixing effect, and is expected to be detectable at a future linear collider.
