Stochastic homogenization of convolution type operators

This paper deals with homogenization problem for convolution type non-local operators in random statistically homogeneous ergodic media. Assuming that the convolution kernel has a finite second moment and satisfies the uniform ellipticity and certain symmetry conditions, we prove the almost sure homogenization result and show that the limit operator is a second order elliptic differential operator with constant deterministic coefficients.

Homogenization of Levy-type operators with oscillating coefficients

The paper deals with homogenization of Levy-type operators with rapidly oscillating coefficients. We consider cases of periodic and random statistically homogeneous micro-structures and show that in the limit we obtain a Levy-operator. In the periodic case we study both symmetric and non-symmetric kernels whereas in the random case we only investigate symmetric kernels. We also address a nonlinear version of this homogenization problem.

Point-wise estimates for nonlocal heat kernel of convolution type operators

The paper deals with point-wise estimates for the heat kernel of a nonlocal convolution type operator with a kernel that decays at least exponentially at infinity. It is shown that the large time behaviour of the heat kernel depends essentially on whether $|x|\ll t$, or $|x|\sim t$, or $|x|\gg t$. We obtain sharp point-wise upper bounds for the heat kernel in all these regions. In the first region the nonlocal heat kernel behaves like the classical one, while in the other regions we observe an essential difference.

Large time behaviour of symmetric random walk in high-contrast periodic environment

The paper deals with the asymptotic properties of a symmetric random walk in a high contrast periodic medium in $\mathbb Z^d$, $d\geq 1$. We show that under proper diffusive scaling the random walk exhibits a non-standard limit behaviour. In addition to the coordinate of the random walk in $\mathbb Z^d$ we introduce an extra variable that characterizes the position of the random walk in the period and show that this two-component process converges in law to a limit Markov process. The components of the limit process are mutually coupled, thus we cannot expect that the limit behaviour of the coordinate process is Markov. We also prove the convergence in the path space for the said random walk.

Resolvent bounds for jump generators and ground state asymptotics for nonlocal Schrödinger operators

The paper deals with jump generators with a convolution kernel. Assuming that the kernel decays either exponentially or polynomially we prove a number of lower and upper bounds for the resolvent of such operators. We consider two applications of these results. First we obtain pointwise estimates for principal eigenfunction of jump generators perturbed by a compactly supported potential (so-called nonlocal Schrödinger operators). Then we consider the Cauchy problem for the corresponding inhomogeneous evolution equations and study the behaviour of its solutions.

Periodic homogenization of non-local operators with a convolution type kernel

The paper deals with homogenization problem for a non-local linear operator with a kernel of convolution type in a medium with a periodic structure. We consider the natural diffusive scaling of this operator and study the limit behaviour of the rescaled operators as the scaling parameter tends to 0. More precisely we show that in the topology of resolvent convergence the family of rescaled operators converges to a second order elliptic operator with constant coefficients. We also prove the convergence of the corresponding semigroups both in $L^2$ space and the space of continuous functions, and show that for the related family of Markov processes the invariance principle holds.

A quasispecies continuous contact model in a critical regime

We study a new non-equilibrium dynamical model: a marked continuous contact model in $d$-dimensional space ($d \ge 3$). We prove that for certain values of rates (the critical regime) this system has the one-parameter family of invariant measures labelled by the spatial density of particles. Then we prove that the process starting from the marked Poisson measure converges to one of these invariant measures. In contrast with the continuous contact model studied earlier in \cite{KKP}, now the spatial particle density is not a conserved quantity.

On ground state of non local Schrodinger operators

We study a ground state of a non local Schrodinger operator associated with an evolution equation for the density of population in the stochastic contact model in continuum with inhomogeneous mortality rates. We found a new effect in this model, when even in the high dimensional case the existence of a small positive perturbation of a special form (so-called, small paradise) implies the appearance of the ground state. We consider the problem in the Banach space of bounded continuous functions $C_b (R^d)$ and in the Hilbert space $L^2(R^d)$.

Modelling axon growing using CTRW

The main goal of this study is to propose a mathematical model describing paths of the axon growth cones and differences in the behavior of normal and mutant axons. We introduce a probabilistic model for axon growing, such that each family of axons is described as an ensemble of trajectories of a continuous time random walk (CTRW) model under different parameters in the case of normal and mutant axons. We describe different regimes in the model and conclude how the behavior of axons depends on the parameters of the model. Biological observations of the axonal growth process say us that the guiding development of axons to their targets is operated by chemical signals from the cellular environment. To simulate this control mechanism we propose the CTRW model, where a random waiting time reflects a reaction time of the growth cones on the neighboring chemical environment.

On an aggregation in birth-and-death stochastic dynamics

We consider birth and death stochastic dynamics of particle systems with attractive interaction. The heuristic generator of the dynamics has a constant birth rate and density dependent decreasing death rate. The corresponding statistical dynamics is constructed. Using the Vlasov type scaling we derive the limiting mesoscopic evolution and prove that this evolution propagates chaos. We study a non-linear non-local kinetic equation for the first correlation function (density of population). The existence of uniformly bounded solutions as well as solutions growing inside of a bounded domain and expanding in the space are shown. These solutions describe two regimes in the mesoscopic system: regulation and aggregation.

Density behavior of spatial birth-and-death stochastic evolution of mutating genotypes under selection rates

We consider birth-and-death stochastic evolution of genotypes with different lengths. The genotypes might mutate that provides a stochastic changing of lengthes by a free diffusion law. The birth and death rates are length dependent which corresponds to a selection effect. We study an asymptotic behavior of a density for an infinite collection of genotypes. The cases of space homogeneous and space heterogeneous densities are considered.

An approximative approach to construction of the Glauber dynamics in continuum

We develop a new approach for the construction of the Glauber dynamics in continuum. Existence of the corresponding strongly continuous contraction semigroup in a proper Banach space is shown. Additionally we present the finite- and infinite-volume approximations of the semigroup by families of bounded linear operators.
