On the spectral stability of periodic traveling waves for the critical Korteweg-de Vries and Gardner equations

In this paper, we determine spectral stability results of periodic waves for the critical Korteweg-de Vries and Gardner equations. For the first equation, we show that both positive and zero mean periodic traveling wave solutions possess a threshold value which may provides us a rupture in the spectral stability. Concerning the second equation, we establish the existence of periodic waves using a Galilean transformation on the periodic cnoidal solution for the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation and for both equations, the threshold values are the same. The main advantage presented in our paper concerns in solving some auxiliary initial value problems to obtain the spectral stability.

Existence and orbital stability of standing waves for the 1D Schrödinger-Kirchhoff equation

In this paper we establish the orbital stability of standing wave solutions associated to the one-dimensional Schrödinger-Kirchhoff equation. The presence of a mixed term gives us more dispersion, and consequently, a different scenario for the stability of solitary waves in contrast with the corresponding nonlinear Schrödinger equation. For periodic waves, we exhibit two explicit solutions and prove the orbital stability in the energy space.

Orbital Stability of Periodic Standing Waves for the Logarithmic Klein-Gordon Equation

The main goal of this paper is to present orbital stability results of periodic standing waves for the one-dimensional logarithmic Klein-Gordon equation. To do so, we first use compactness arguments and a non-standard analysis to obtain the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for the associated Cauchy problem in the energy space. Second, we prove the orbital stability of standing waves using a stablity analysis of conservative systems.

On the ill-posedness of the 5th-order Gardner equation

We present ill-posedness results for the initial value problem (IVP) of the 5th-order Gardner equation. We use new breather solutions discovered for this higher order Gardner equation to measure the regularity of the Cauchy problem in Sobolev spaces $H^s$. We find the sharp Sobolev index under which the local well-posedness of the problem is lost, meaning that the dependence of 5th order Gardner solutions upon initial data fails to be continuous.
