Estimating the Hurst parameter from the zero vanna implied volatility and its dual

The covariance between the return of an asset and its realized volatility can be approximated as the difference between two specific implied volatilities. In this paper it is proved that in the small time-to-maturity limit the approximation error tends to zero. In addition a direct relation between the short time-to-maturity covariance and slope of the at-the-money implied volatility is established. The limit theorems are valid for stochastic volatility models with Hurst parameter $H \in(0, 1)$. An application of the results is to accurately approximate the Hurst parameter using only a discrete set of implied volatilities. Numerical examples under the rough Bergomi model are presented.

On the difference between the volatility swap strike and the zero vanna implied volatility

In this paper, Malliavin calculus is applied to arrive at exact formulas for the difference between the volatility swap strike and the zero vanna implied volatility for volatilities driven by fractional noise. To the best of our knowledge, our estimate is the first to derive the rigorous relationship between the zero vanna implied volatility and the volatility swap strike. In particular, we will see that the zero vanna implied volatility is a better approximation for the volatility swap strike than the ATMI.

CVA and vulnerable options in stochastic volatility models

In this work we want to provide a general principle to evaluate the CVA (Credit Value Adjustment) for a vulnerable option, that is an option subject to some default event, concerning the solvability of the issuer. CVA is needed to evaluate correctly the contract and it is particularly important in presence of WWR (Wrong Way Risk), when a credit deterioration determines an increase of the claim's price. In particular, we are interested in evaluating the CVA in stochastic volatility models for the underlying's price (which often fit quite well the market's prices) when admitting correlation with the default event. By cunningly using Ito's calculus, we provide a general representation formula applicable to some popular models such as SABR, Hull \& White and Heston, which explicitly shows the correction in CVA due to the processes correlation. Later, we specialize this formula and construct its approximation for the three selected models. Lastly, we run a numerical study to test the formula's accuracy, comparing our results with Monte Carlo simulations.

Target volatility option pricing in lognormal fractional SABR model

We examine in this article the pricing of target volatility options in the lognormal fractional SABR model. A decomposition formula by Ito's calculus yields a theoretical replicating strategy for the target volatility option, assuming the accessibilities of all variance swaps and swaptions. The same formula also suggests an approximation formula for the price of target volatility option in small time by the technique of freezing the coefficient. Alternatively, we also derive closed formed expressions for a small volatility of volatility expansion of the price of target volatility option. Numerical experiments show accuracy of the approximations in a reasonably wide range of parameters.
