An operator-theoretic approach to invariant integrals on quantum homogeneous sl_{n+1}(R)-spaces

We present other examples illustrating the operator-theoretic approach to invariant integrals on quantum homogeneous spaces developed by Kuersten and the second author. The quantum spaces are chosen such that their coordinate algebras do not admit bounded Hilbert space representations and their self-adjoint generators have continuous spectrum. Operator algebras of trace class operators are associated to the coordinate algebras which allow interpretations as rapidly decreasing functions and as finite functions. The invariant integral is defined as a trace functional which generalizes the well-known quantum trace. We argue that previous algebraic methods would fail for these examples.

Fibre product approach to index pairings for the generic Hopf fibration of SU_q(2)

A fibre product construction is used to give a description of quantum line bundles over the generic Podles spheres by gluing two quantum discs along their boundaries. Representatives of the corresponding $K_0$-classes are given in terms of 1-dimensional projections belonging to the C*-algebra, and in terms of analogues of the classical Bott projections. The $K_0$-classes of quantum line bundles derived from the generic Hopf fibration of quantum SU(2) are determined and the index pairing is computed. It is argued that taking the projections obtained from the fibre product construction yields a significant simplification of earlier index computations.

On the noncommutative spin geometry of the standard Podles sphere and index computations

The purpose of the paper is twofold: First, known results of the noncommutative spin geometry of the standard Podles sphere are extended by discussing Poincare duality and orientability. In the discussion of orientability, Hochschild homology is replaced by a twisted version which avoids the dimension drop. The twisted Hochschild cycle representing an orientation is related to the volume form of the distinguished covariant differential calculus. Integration over the volume form defines a twisted cyclic 2-cocycle which computes the q-winding numbers of quantum line bundles. Second, a "twisted" Chern character from equivariant K0-theory to even twisted cyclic homology is introduced which gives rise to a Chern-Connes pairing between equivariant K0-theory and twisted cyclic cohomology. The Chern-Connes pairing between the equivariant K0-group of the standard Podles sphere and the generators of twisted cyclic cohomology relative to the modular automorphism and its inverse are computed. This includes the pairings with the twisted cyclic 2-cocycle associated to the volume form, and the one corresponding to the "no-dimension drop" case. From explicit index computations, it follows that the pairings with these cocycles give the q-indices of the known equivariant 0-summable Dirac operator on the standard Podles sphere.

Dirac operator and a twisted cyclic cocycle on the standard Podles quantum sphere

A Dirac operator D on the standard Podles sphere is defined and investigated. It yields a spectral triple such that |D|^{-z} is of trace class for Re z>0. Commutators with the Dirac operator give the distinguished 2-dimensional covariant differential calculus on the standard Podles sphere. The twisted cyclic cocycle associated with the volume form of the differential calculus is expressed by means of the Dirac operator.

Representations of cross product algebras of Podles quantum spheres

Hilbert space representations of the cross product *-algebras of the Hopf *-algebra U_q(su_2) and its module *-algebras O(S^2_{qr}) of Podles spheres are investigated and classified by describing the action of generators. The representations are analyzed within two approaches. It is shown that the Hopf *-algebra O(SU_q(2)) of the quantum group SU_q(2) decomposes into an orthogonal sum of projective Hopf modules corresponding to irreducible integrable *-representations of the cross product algebras and that each irreducible integrable *-representation appears with multiplicity one. The projections of these projective modules are computed. The decompositions of tensor products of irreducible integrable *-representations with spin l representations of U_q(su_2) are given. The invariant state h on O(S^2_{qr}) is studied in detail. By passing to function algebras over the quantum spheres S^2_{qr}, we give chart descriptions of quantum line bundles and describe the representations from the first approach by means of the second approach.

Dirac operators on all Podles quantum spheres

We construct spectral triples on all Podles quantum spheres. These noncommutative geometries are equivariant for a left action of $U_q(su(2))$ and are regular, even and of metric dimension 2. They are all isospectral to the undeformed round geometry of the 2-sphere. There is also an equivariant real structure for which both the commutant property and the first order condition for the Dirac operators are valid up to infinitesimals of arbitrary order.

Hilbert space representations of cross product algebras II

In this paper, we study and classify Hilbert space representations of cross product *-algebras of the quantized enveloping algebra $U_q(e_2)$ with the coordinate algebras $O(E_q(2))$ of the quantum motion group and $O(\C_q)$ of the complex plane, and of the quantized enveloping algebra $U_q(su_{1,1})$ with the coordinate algebras $O(SU_q(1,1))$ of the quantum group $SU_q(1,1)$ and $O(U_q)$ of the quantum disc. Invariant positive functionals and the corresponding Heisenberg representations are explicitely described.

Invariant integration theory on non-compact quantum spaces: Quantum (n,1)-matrix ball

An operator theoretic approach to invariant integration theory on non-compact quantum spaces is introduced on the example of the quantum (n,1)-matrix ball O_q(Mat_{n,1}). In order to prove the existence of an invariant integral, operator algebras are associated to O_q(Mat_{n,1}) which allow an interpretation as ``rapidly decreasing'' functions and as functions with compact support on the quantum (n,1)-matrix ball. It is shown that the invariant integral is given by a generalization of the quantum trace. If an operator representation of a first order differential calculus over the quantum space is known, then it can be extended to the operator algebras of integrable functions. Hilbert space representations of O_q(Mat_{n,1}) are investigated and classified. Some topological aspects concerning Hilbert space representations are discussed.

Hilbert Space Representations of Cross Product Algebras

Hilbert space representations of cross product *-algebras of the Hopf *-algebras U_q(gl_2) with the coordinate algebras O(C^2_q) and O(R^3_q) of quantum vector spaces and U_q(su_2) with coordinate algebras O(SU_q(2)) and O(S^2_q) of corresponding quantum spheres are investigated and classified. Invariant states on the coordinate *-algebras are described by two variants of the quantum trace.

On representations of partial ^*-algebras based on B-weights

A generalization of the GNS-representation is investigated that represents partial ^*-algebras as systems of operators acting on a partial inner product space (PIP-space). It is based on possibly indefinite B-weights which are closely related to the positive B-weights introduced by J.-P. Antoine, Y. Soulet and C. Trapani. Some additional assumptions had to be made in order to guarantee the GNS-construction. Different partial products of operators on a PIP-space are considered which allow the GNS-construction under suitable conditions. Several examples illustrate the argumentation and indicate inherent problems.
