Enumerating cores of charged multipartitions

Granville and Ono proved that there is an $e$-core partition of $n$ for every $n\in\mathbb{N}$ if and only if $e\geq 4$, which translates to a statement about the existence of defect $0$ blocks for symmetric groups in positive characteristic and defect $0$ unipotent blocks of finite general linear groups in positive, non-defining characteristic. Motivated by analogous applications to the block theory of finite classical groups, imprimitive spetses, and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, we prove similar positivity statements about different variants of $e$-cores for charged multipartitions.

Decomposition numbers for unipotent blocks with small $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-weight in finite classical groups

We show that parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials of type $A$ compute the decomposition numbers in certain Harish-Chandra series of unipotent characters of finite groups of Lie types $B$, $C$ and $D$ over a field of non-defining characteristic $\ell$. Here, $\ell$ is a ``unitary prime" -- the case that remains open in general. The bipartitions labeling the characters in these series are small with respect to $d$, the order of $q$ mod $\ell$, although they occur in blocks of arbitrarily high defect. Our main technical tool is the categorical action of an affine Lie algebra on the category of unipotent representations, which identifies the branching graph for Harish-Chandra induction with the $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_d$-crystal on a sum of level $2$ Fock spaces. Further key combinatorics has been adapted from Brundan and Stroppel's work on Khovanov arc algebras to obtain the closed formula for the decomposition numbers in a $d$-small Harish-Chandra series.

The modular Weyl-Kac character formula

We classify and explicitly construct the irreducible graded representations of anti-spherical Hecke categories which are concentrated in one degree. Each of these homogeneous representations is one-dimensional and can be cohomologically constructed via a BGG resolution involving every (infinite dimensional) standard representation of the category. We hence determine the complete first row of the inverse parabolic $p$-Kazhdan--Lusztig matrix for an arbitrary Coxeter group and an arbitrary parabolic subgroup. This generalises the Weyl--Kac character formula to all Coxeter systems (and their parabolics) and proves that this generalised formula is rigid with respect to base change to an arbitrary field.

The anti-spherical Hecke categories for Hermitian symmetric pairs

We calculate the $p$-Kazhdan--Lusztig polynomials for Hermitian symmetric pairs and prove that the corresponding anti-spherical Hecke categories categories are standard Koszul. We prove that the combinatorial invariance conjecture can be lifted to the level of graded Morita equivalences between subquotients of these Hecke categories.

Unitary representations of cyclotomic Hecke algebras at roots of unity: combinatorial classification and BGG resolutions

We relate the classes of unitary and calibrated representations of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and, in particular, we show that for the most important deformation parameters these two classes coincide. We classify these representations in terms of both multipartition combinatorics and as the points in the fundamental alcove under the action of an affine Weyl group. Finally, we cohomologically construct these modules via BGG resolutions.

The Dipper-Du Conjecture Revisited

We consider vertices, a notion originating in local representation theory of finite groups, for the category $\mathcal{O}$ of a rational Cherednik algebra and prove the analogue of the Dipper-Du Conjecture for Hecke algebras of symmetric groups in that setting. As a corollary we obtain a new proof of the Dipper-Du Conjecture over $\mathbb{C}$.

Decomposition numbers for the principal $Φ_{2n}$-block of $\mathrm{Sp}_{4n}(q)$ and $\mathrm{SO}_{4n+1}(q)$

We compute the decomposition numbers of the unipotent characters lying in the principal $\ell$-block of a finite group of Lie type $B_{2n}(q)$ or $C_{2n}(q)$ when $q$ is an odd prime power and $\ell$ is an odd prime number such that the order of $q$ mod $\ell$ is $2n$. Along the way, we extend to these finite groups the results of \cite{DVV19} on the branching graph for Harish-Chandra induction and restriction.

Unitary representations of type B rational Cherednik algebras and crystal combinatorics

We compare crystal combinatorics of the level 2 Fock space with the classification of unitary irreducible representations of type B rational Cherednik algebras to study how unitarity behaves under parabolic restriction. First, we show that any finite-dimensional unitary irreducible representation of such an algebra is labeled by a bipartition consisting of a rectangular partition in one component and the empty partition in the other component. This is a new proof of a result that can be deduced from theorems of Montarani and Etingof-Stoica. Second, we show that the crystal operators that remove boxes preserve the combinatorial conditions for unitarity, and that the parabolic restriction functors categorifying the crystals send irreducible unitary representations to unitary representations. Third, we find the supports of the unitary representations.

Generalized Mullineux involution and perverse equivalences

We define a generalization of the Mullineux involution on multipartitions using the theory of crystals for higher level Fock spaces. Our generalized Mullineux involution turns up in representation theory via two important derived functors on cyclotomic Cherednik category $\mathcal{O}$: Losev's "$κ=0$" wall-crossing, and the Ringel duality.

On modular Harish-Chandra series of finite unitary groups

In the modular representation theory of finite unitary groups when the characteristic $\ell$ of the ground field is a unitary prime, the $\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_e$-crystal on level $2$ Fock spaces graphically describes the Harish-Chandra branching of unipotent representations restricted to the tower of unitary groups. However, how to determine the cuspidal support of an arbitrary unipotent representation has remained an open question. We show that for $\ell$ sufficiently large, the $\mathfrak{sl}_\infty$-crystal on the same level $2$ Fock spaces provides the remaining piece of the puzzle for the full Harish-Chandra branching rule.

Translation functors and decomposition numbers for the periplectic Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{p}(n)$

We study the category $\mathcal{F}_n$ of finite-dimensional integrable representations of the periplectic Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{p}(n)$. We define an action of the Temperley--Lieb algebra with infinitely many generators and defining parameter $0$ on the category $\mathcal{F}_n$ by translation functors. We also introduce combinatorial tools, called weight diagrams and arrow diagrams for $\mathfrak{p}(n)$ resembling those for $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$. Using the Temperley--Lieb algebra action and the combinatorics of weight and arrow diagrams, we then calculate the multiplicities of standard and costandard modules in indecomposable projective modules and classify the blocks of $\mathcal{F}_n$. We also prove that indecomposable projective modules in this category are multiplicity-free.

We compare crystal combinatorics of the level $2$ Fock space with the classification of unitary representations of type $B$ rational Cherednik algebras to show that any finite-dimensional unitary irreducible representation of such an algebra is labeled by a bipartition consisting of a rectangular partition in one component and the empty partition in the other component. Irreducible calibrated representations of periplectic Brauer algebras and hook representations of the symmetric group

We construct an infinite tower of irreducible calibrated representations of periplectic Brauer algebras on which the cup-cap generators act by nonzero matrices. As representations of the symmetric group, these are exterior powers of the standard representation (i.e. hook representations). Our approach uses the recently-defined degenerate affine periplectic Brauer algebra, which plays a role similar to that of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra in representation theory of the symmetric group. We write formulas for the representing matrices in the basis of Jucys--Murphy eigenvectors and we completely describe the spectrum of these representations. The tower formed by these representations provides a new, non-semisimple categorification of Pascal's triangle. Along the way, we also prove some basic results about calibrated representations of the degenerate affine periplectic Brauer algebra.

On calibrated representations of the degenerate affine periplectic Brauer algebra

We initiate the representation theory of the degenerate affine periplectic Brauer algebra on $n$ strands by constructing its finite-dimensional calibrated representations when $n=2$. We show that any such representation that is indecomposable and does not factor through a representation of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra occurs as an extension of two semisimple representations with one-dimensional composition factors; and furthermore, we classify such representations with regular eigenvalues up to isomorphism.

The affine VW supercategory

We define the affine VW supercategory $\mathit{s}\hspace{-0.7mm}\bigvee\mkern-15mu\bigvee$, which arises from studying the action of the periplectic Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{p}(n)$ on the tensor product $M\otimes V^{\otimes a}$ of an arbitrary representation $M$ with several copies of the vector representation $V$ of $\mathfrak{p}(n)$. It plays a role analogous to that of the degenerate affine Hecke algebras in the context of representations of the general linear group; the main obstacle was the lack of a quadratic Casimir element in $\mathfrak{p}(n)\otimes \mathfrak{p}(n)$. When $M$ is the trivial representation, the action factors through the Brauer supercategory $\mathit{s}\mathcal{B}\mathit{r}$. Our main result is an explicit basis theorem for the morphism spaces of $\mathit{s}\hspace{-0.7mm}\bigvee\mkern-15mu\bigvee$ and, as a consequence, of $\mathit{s}\mathcal{B}\mathit{r}$. The proof utilises the close connection with the representation theory of $\mathfrak{p}(n)$. As an application we explicitly describe the centre of all endomorphism algebras, and show that it behaves well under the passage to the associated graded and under deformation.

The $\mathfrak{sl}_\infty$-crystal combinatorics of higher level Fock spaces

For integers $e,\ell\geq 2$, the level $\ell$ Fock space has an $\mathfrak{sl}_\infty$-crystal structure arising from the action of a Heisenberg algebra, intertwining the $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_e}$-crystal. The vertices of these crystals are charged $\ell$-partitions. We give the combinatorial rule for computing the arrows anywhere in the $\mathfrak{sl}_\infty$-crystal. This allows us to pinpoint the location of any charged $\ell$-partition. As an application, we compute the support of the spherical representation of a cyclotomic rational Cherednik algebra, and in particular, the set of parameters such that it is finite-dimensional. We also give an easy abacus characterization of all finite-dimensional representations of type $B$ Cherednik algebras.
