Towards spinning $U(1)$ gauged non-topological solitons in the model with Chern-Simons term

We obtain localized field configurations with finite energy in a ($2+1$)-dimensional model with Maxwell and Chern-Simons gauge terms coupled to a massive complex scalar field. These non-topological solitons are characterized by the $U(1)$ frequency and a winding number. Thus, the solutions possess Noether charge and non-trivial angular momentum, which is not quantized in contrast to the topological case. We study the solitons and their integral characteristics numerically and demonstrate that they are kinematically stable. The obtained solutions allow for the thin-wall approximation in some region of frequencies. For each winding number, the Noether charge has a lower bound that coincides with an isolated point, where the non-relativistic conformal symmetry seems to be restored.

Generalized Models for Spinning Field Lumps on Plane

We study planar non-topological solitons in models with nonlinear potentials that are bounded from below. These models provide consistent completion for the classical consideration at any energy scale. The properties of our solutions indicate the kinematical stability, which is unachievable in the previously studied model with negative quartic self-interaction. Remarkably, our generalization preserves restoration of the full Schr\"{o}dinger symmetry at low energies, including scale invariance (dilatation) and special conformal symmetry. Our numerical calculations and analytical approximations demonstrate that the details of non-relativistic regime are defined by the lowest nonlinear $U(1)$-invariant term.

CFT-approach to Rotating Field Lumps in Attractive Potential

We demonstrate the importance of relativistic corrections for the study of the stability of $(2+1)$-dimensional non-topological solitons with quartic self-interaction in the low-energy limit. This result is explained by the restoration of conformal symmetry in the non-relativistic limit. Particularly, the corresponding cubic Gross-Pitaevskii equation supports scale-free non-topological solitons. An unbroken conformal symmetry provides the additional degeneration that allows for the exact result for the energy and angular momentum of the stationary classical solutions. We study the violation of conformal symmetry by relativistic corrections. The emergence of exponentially growing modes on the classical background is demonstrated using analytical approximations and numerical calculations.

Properties of Non-topological Solitons in Two-dimensional Model With Resurrected Conformal Symmetry

We study properties of non-topological solitons in two-dimensional conformal field theory. The spectrum of linear perturbations on these solutions is found to be trivial, containing only symmetry-related zero modes. The interpretation of this feature is given by considering the relativistic generalization of our theory in which the conformal symmetry is violated. It is explicitly seen that the restoration of this symmetry leads to the absence of decay/vibrational modes.

Localized Electromagnetic Perturbations on Vector Solitons

Using effective field theory approach one can describe localization of electromagnetic field on a non-topological soliton. Pursuing this aim we consider the U(1) gauge theory with gauge kinetic coupling to a self-interacting complex neutral Proca field. The model possesses single energy scale given by the vector boson mass. Considering spherically symmetric stationary configurations, we study vibrational modes of the Proca field on the background of the soliton and discuss their properties.

Large solitons flattened by small quantum corrections

We propose a general form of the UV-completed Friedberg-Lee-Sirlin (FLS) model. As can be seen from the mechanical interpretation, UV-completion allows thin-wall approximation for non-topological solitons. The 1-loop renormalized effective potential for the UV-completed FLS model is constructed under the assumption of mass hierarchy. By special choice of parameters, we studied how the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism induces a new mass scale $\omega_{-}$ in the classical FLS model. It can be expounded in terms of a stable condensate. As a consequence, the asymptotic of a non-topological soliton's energy at large charge is changed from $\sim Q^{3/4}$ to the linear law.

Nontopological Electromagnetic Hedgehogs

We study classical localised configurations - solitons - in a theory of self-interacting complex Proca field with the global $U(1)$ symmetry. We focus on spherically-symmetric solitons near the nonrelativistic limit, which are supported by the quartic interactions of the neutral Proca field. Such solitons can source the radial electric (magnetic) field if one introduces a parity-even (parity-odd) coupling of the Proca field to the electromagnetic field tensor. We discuss the conditions of existence of such nontopological ''electromagnetic hedgehogs'' and their properties.

Effectively flat potential in the Friedberg-Lee-Sirlin model

The Friedberg-Lee-Sirlin (FLS) model is a well-known renormalizable theory of scalar fields that provides for the existence of non-topological solitons. Since this model was proposed, numerous works have been dedicated to studying its classical configurations and its general suitability for various physical problems in cosmology, quantum chromodynamics, etc. In this paper, we study how Q-balls in effective field theory (EFT) reproduce non-topological solitons in full FLS theory. We obtain an analytical description of the simplified model and compare results with numerical calculations and perturbation theory. We also study the condensation of charged bosons on the domain wall. A full numerical solution allows us to check the EFT methods for this problem. The latter analysis is based on the application of EFT methods to significantly inhomogeneous configurations. We give an interpretation of the results in terms of the shifted boson mass and the vacuum rearrangement.

Unveiling complex vector dark matter by magnetic field

We discuss the possibility that dark matter is made of a new complex massive vector field with a global $U(1)$-symmetry. The field interacts with the Standard Model via coupling to the gauge field of the hypercharge group. We study classical homogeneous configurations arising in the theory. Some of these configurations include magnetic components of the Standard Model electromagnetic field tensor. This opens a possibility to relate the origin of possible primordial magnetic fields to the cosmological evolution of vector dark matter condensates composed of magnetic bosons.

Review of non-topological solitons in theories with $U(1)$-symmetry

We provide a review of non-topological solitonic solutions arising in theories with a complex scalar field and global or gauge $U(1)$-symmetry. It covers Q-balls, homogeneous charged scalar condensates, and nonlinear localized holes and bulges in a classically stable condensate. A historical overview is followed by the discussion of properties of solutions, including their stability, from different perspectives. Solitons in models with additional massive degrees of freedom are also revisited, and their relation to one-field Q-balls is showed. We also discuss theories with a gauge field giving rise to gauged Q-balls and theories with dynamical gravity giving rise to boson stars.

The fate of small classically stable Q-balls

The smallest classically stable Q-balls are, in fact, generically metastable: in quantum theory they decay into free particles via collective tunneling. We derive general semiclassical method to calculate the rate of this process in the entire kinematical region of Q-ball metastability. Our method uses Euclidean field-theoretical solutions resembling the Coleman's bounce and fluctuations around them. As an application of the method, we numerically compute the decay rate to the leading semiclassical order in a particular one-field model. We shortly discuss cosmological implications of metastable Q-balls.

Towards the correspondence between Q-clouds and sphalerons

Non-linear classical equations of motion may admit degenerate solutions at fixed charges. While the solutions with lower energies are classically stable, the ones with larger energies are unstable and refereed as Q-clouds. We consider a theory in which the homogeneous charged condensate is classically stable and argue that Q-clouds correspond to sphalerons between the stable Q-balls and the condensate. For the model with analytic solution, we present Arrhenius formula for the quantum production of Q-balls from the condensate at large temperatures.
