Response to: [Comment on Quantization of the damped harmonic oscillator [Serhan et al, J. Math. Phys. 59, 082105 (2018)]]

This is a response to a recently reported comment [1] on paper [J. Math. Phys.59, 082105 (2018)] regarding the quantization of damped harmonic oscillator using a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian with real energy eigenvalues. We assert here that the calculation of Eq. (29) of [2] is incorrect, and thus the subsequent steps via the Nikiforov-Uvarov method are affected, and the energy eigenvalues should have been complex. However, we show here that the Hermiticity of the Hamiltonian should be firstly achieved to make the correct transition from classical Hamiltonian to quantum counterpart, and this can be reached using the symmetrization rule. Applying the canonical quantization on the resulted Hermitian Hamiltonian and then using the Nikiforov-Uvarov method correctly, the energy eigenvalues will be real and exactly as given by Eq. (35) of [2].

On fractional Euler-Lagrange and Hamilton equations and the fractional generalization of total time derivative

Fractional mechanics describes both conservative and non-conservative systems. The fractional variational principles gained importance in studying the fractional mechanics and several versions are proposed. In classical mechanics the equivalent Lagrangians play an important role because they admit the same Euler-Lagrange equations. By adding a total time derivative of a suitable function to a given classical Lagrangian or by multiplying with a constant the Lagrangian we obtain the same equations of motion. In this study, the fractional discrete Lagrangians which differs by a fractional derivative are analyzed within Riemann-Liouville fractional derivatives. As a consequence of applying this procedure the classical results are reobtained as a special case. The fractional generalization of $Fa\grave{a}$ di Bruno formula is used in order to obtain the concrete expression of the fractional Lagrangians which differs from a given fractional Lagrangian by adding a fractional derivative. The fractional Euler-Lagrange and Hamilton equations corresponding to the obtained fractional Lagrangians are investigated and two examples are analyzed in details.

Fractional WKB Approximation

Wentzel, Kramers, Brillouin (WKB) approximation for fractional systems is investigated in this paper using the fractional calculus. In the fractional case the wave function is constructed such that the phase factor is the same as the Hamilton's principle function "S". To demonstrate our proposed approach two examples are investigated in details.

Hamilton-Jacobi Fractional Sequential Mechanics

As a continuation of Rabei et al. work [11], the Hamilton- Jacobi partial differential equation is generalized to be applicable for systems containing fractional derivatives. The Hamilton- Jacobi function in configuration space is obtained in a similar manner to the usual mechanics. Two problems are considered to demonstrate the application of the formalism. The result found to be in exact agreement with Agrawal's formalism.

Hamilton-Jacobi quantization of singular Lagrangians with linear velocities

In this paper, constrained Hamiltonian systems with linear velocities are investigated by using the Hamilton-Jacobi method. We shall consider the integrablity conditions on the equations of motion and the action function as well in order to obtain the path integral quantization of singular Lagrangians with linear velocities.

Bargmann Invariants and Geometric Phases - a Generalised Connection

We develop the widest possible generalisation of the well-known connection between quantum mechanical Bargmann invariants and geometric phases. The key notion is that of null phase curves in quantum mechanical ray and Hilbert spaces. Examples of such curves are developed. Our generalisation is shown to be essential to properly understand geometric phase results in the cases of coherent states and of Gaussian states. Differential geometric aspects of null phase curves are also briefly explored.

An Investigation of Singular Lagrangians as Field Systems

The link between the treatment of singular lagrangians as field systems and the general approch is studied. It is shown that singular Lagrangians as field systems are always in exact agreement with the general approch. Two examples and the singular Lagrangian with zero rank Hessian matrix are studied. The equations of motion in the field systems are equivalent to the equations which contain accleration, and the constraints are equivalent to the equations which do not contain acceleration in the general approch treatment.
