Embeddings of infinitely connected planar domains into C^2

We prove that every circled domain in the Riemann sphere admits a proper holomorphic embedding to C^2. Our methods also apply to circled domains with punctures, provided that all but finitely many of the punctures belong to the closure of the set of complementary discs.

Solving $\bar\partial_b$ on hyperbolic laminations

Let $X$ denote a compact set which is laminated by Riemann surfaces. We assume that $X$ carries a positive CR line bundle $ L\rightarrow X$. The main result of the paper is that there exists a positive integer $s$ so that if $v$ is any continuous $(0,1)$ form with coefficients in $L^{\otimes s}$ there exists a continuous section $u$ of $L^{\otimes s}$ solving the equation $\bar\partial_b u=v$.

Examples of Minimal Laminations and Associated Currents

In this paper, we construct various examples of holomorphic laminations, with leaves of dimension 1, and we also study some of their dynamical properties. In particular we study existence and uniqueness of positive closed currents. We construct minimal laminations with infinitely many mutually singular closed currents and no non-closed harmonic current. We also consider embeddings to projective space.

Fibrations and Stein Neighborhoods

Let Z be a complex space and let S be a compact set in C^n x Z which is fibered over R^n (the real subspace of C^n). We give a necessary and sufficient condition for S to be a Stein compactum.

Bordered Riemann surfaces in C^2

One of the oldest open problems in the classical function theory is whether every open Riemann surface admits a proper holomorphic embedding into C^2. In this paper we prove the following Theorem: If D is a bordered Riemann surface whose closure admits an injective immersion in C^2 that is holomorphic in D, then D admits a proper holomorphic embedding in C^2. The most general earlier results are due to J. Globevnik and B. Stensones (Math. Ann. 303 (1995), 579-597) and E. F. Wold (Internat. J. Math. 17 (2006), 963-974). We give an explicit and elementary construction that does not require the Teichmuller space theory, and we also indicate another possible proof using the latter theory.

Laminated Currents

In this paper we prove the equivalence of two definitions of laminated currents.

Embedding Riemann Surfaces Properly into $\CC^2$

For certain bordered submanifolds $M\subset\CC^2$ we show that $M$ can be embedded properly and holomorphically into $\CC^2$. An application is that any subset of a torus with two boundary components can be embedded properly into $\CC^2$.
