On Apparent Superluminal Motion in Astrophysical Jet Models

Astrophysical models developed to explain superluminal motion in beaming phenomena are shown to be incomplete and the correct kinematical expression in any case to predict projected velocities slower than the speed of light. The observed superluminal motions in the plane of the sky are proposed to be real.

On some Implications of (Symmetric) Special Relativity to High Energy Physics

Beside the rise of total cross sections or interaction radii of colliding high energetic particles and the shrinkage of mean-free-paths of ultra relativistic particles (nucleii) in material media (anomalons), which have been shown to be of special relativistic origin [1], still other phenomena in high energy physics may arise from relativistic kinematics. In particular this seems to be the case with the EMC-effect and the so called atmosperic neutrino anomaly.

The Arrow of Time

It is shown that (special) relativistically dilated time is the vector sum of rest time and time induced by movement in three dimensional space exeeding the rest time component and that the first vector is orthogonally directed relative to our three dimensional space. This again implies that its origin lies in the movement of three dimensional space relative to a four dimensional manifold. The theory predicts asymmetrical time dilation.

On the Physical Cause and the Distance of Gamma Ray Bursts and Related Phenomena in the X-Rays and the Ultra-Violet

The modified Lorentz transformation of a distance-dependent special theory of relativity - which will be briefly summarized - predicts the possibility of superluminal velocity of very distantly moving material bodies to be connected with the generation of Cerencov radiation off the quantum vacuum. It is shown that vacuum Cerencov radiation due to the superluminal propagation of extraterrestrial spaceprobes in the interstellar space would account for all known properties of gamma ray bursts (GRBs) and the "afterglow" at lower frequencies. Distances and other parameter prove to be calculable and the theoretical results on these grounds to be in good accord with experiment.

Is the Lorentz Transformation Distance-Dependent?

An analysis of the Lorentz transformation shows that the unchangeability of the space-time coordinates of the inertial systems under consideration and the possibility of a direct projection of those coordinates onto another are the underlying assumptions as to its unlimited validity. It is demonstrated that from a empiric-physical point of view these assumptions are not given in the case of inertial systems separated by very large distances. Analogous to the impossibility to measure motion relative to absolute space, it turns out to be physically non feasible to extend the coordinate system of any reference frame considered at rest relative to a distantly moving system for a direct comparision of the coordinates, and vice versa. The extended Lorentz transformation strictly based on first physical principles predicts the possibility of superluminal propagation of very distant material bodies and, in this case, the generation of Cerenkov radiation out of the quantum vacuum. For many astrophysical phenomena and their experimentally verified properties this yields a novel view.

Do Gravitational Fields Have Mass? Or on the Nature of Dark Matter

As has been shown before (a brief comment will be given in the text), relativistic mass and relativistic time dilation of moving bodies are equivalent as well as time and mass in the rest frame. This implies that the time dilation due to the gravitational field is combined with inertial and gravitational mass as well and permits the computation of the gravitational action of the vacuum constituting the gravitational field in any distance from the source of the field. Theoretical predictions are compared with experimental results and it is shown that many known astrophysical and gravitational phenomena, especially the so-called dark or missing matter, owe their existence to the gravitational effects of the mass of the field-vacuum.

On the Origin of Time

Herein it is shown that mass and time in the rest frame as well as relativistically enlarged mass and dilated time in the moving frame are of like origin. This implies that the former are generated by the movement of a fourth spatial dimension of matter relative to a four-dimensional manifold.

Is the Kinematics of Special Relativity incomplete?

An analysis of composite inertial motion (relativistic sum) within the framework of special relativity leads to the conclusion that every translational motion must be the symmetrically composite relativistic sum of a finite number of quanta of velocity. It is shown that the resulting space-time geometry is Gaussian and the four-vector calculus has its roots in the complex-number algebra, furthermore, that Einstein's "relativity of simultaneity" is based on a misinterpretation of the principle of relativity. Among others predictions of the experimentally verified rise of the interaction-radii of hadrons in high energetic collisions are derived. From the theory also follows the equivalence of relativistically dilated time and relativistic mass as well as the existence of a quantum of time (fundamental length) and its quantitative value, to be found in good accord with experiment.
