On Explicit Solutions for Coupled Reaction-Diffusion and Burgers-Type Equations with Variable Coefficients Through a Riccati System

This work is concerned with the study of explicit solutions for generalized coupled reaction-diffusion and Burgers-type systems with variable coefficients. Including nonlinear models with variable coefficients such as diffusive Lotka-Volterra model, the Gray-Scott model, the Burgers equations. The equations' integrability (via the explicit formulation of the solutions) is accomplished by using similarity transformations and requiring that the coefficients fulfill a Riccati system. We present traveling wave type solutions, as well as solutions with more complex dynamics and relevant features such as bending. A Mathematica file has been prepared as supplementary material, verifying the Riccati systems used in the construction of the solutions.

Exact Solutions of Stochastic Burgers-KdV Equation with variable coefficients

We will present exact solutions for three variations of stochastic Korteweg de Vries-Burgers (KdV-Burgers) equation featuring variable coefficients. In each variant, white noise exhibits spatial uniformity, and the three categories include additive, multiplicative, and advection noise. Across all cases, the coefficients are time-dependent functions. Our discovery indicates that solving certain deterministic counterparts of KdV-Burgers equations and composing the solution with a solution of stochastic differential equations leads to the exact solution of the stochastic Korteweg de Vries-Burgers (KdV-Burgers) equations.

On explicit soliton solutions and blow-up for coupled variable coefficient nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equations

This work is concerned with the study of explicit solutions for a generalized coupled nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equations (NLS) system with variable coefficients. Indeed, we show, employing similarity transformations, the existence of Rogue wave and dark-bright soliton like-solutions for such a generalized NLS system, provided the coefficients satisfy a Riccati system. As a result of the multiparameter solution of the Riccati system, the nonlinear dynamics of the solution can be controlled. Finite-time singular solutions in the $L^{\infty}$ norm for the generalized coupled NLS system are presented explicitly. Finally, an n-dimensional transformation between a variable coefficient NLS coupled system and a constant coupled system coefficient is presented. Soliton and Rogue wave solutions for this high-dimensional system are presented as well. A Mathematica file has been prepared as supplementary material, verifying the Riccati systems used in the construction of the solutions.

Probabilistic solutions of fractional differential and partial differential equations and their Monte Carlo simulations

The work in this paper is four-fold. Firstly, we introduce an alternative approach to solve fractional ordinary differential equations as an expected value of a random time process. Using the latter, we present an interesting numerical approach based on Monte Carlo integration to simulate solutions of fractional ordinary and partial differential equations. Thirdly, we show that this approach allows us to find the fundamental solutions for fractional partial differential equations (PDEs), in which the fractional derivative in time is in the Caputo sense and the fractional in space one is in the Riesz-Feller sense. Lastly, using Riccati equation, we study families of fractional PDEs with variable coefficients which allow explicit solutions. Those solutions connect Lie symmetries to fractional PDEs.

Quantization for uniform distributions on hexagonal, semicircular, and elliptical curves

In this paper, first we have defined a uniform distribution on the boundary of a regular hexagon, and then investigated the optimal sets of $n$-means and the $n$th quantization errors for all positive integers $n$. We give an exact formula to determine them, if $n$ is of the form $n=6k$ for some positive integer $k$. We further calculate the quantization dimension, the quantization coefficient, and show that the quantization dimension is equal to the dimension of the object, and the quantization coefficient exists as a finite positive number. Then, we define a mixture of two uniform distributions on the boundary of a semicircular disc, and obtain a sequence and an algorithm, with the help of which we determine the optimal sets of $n$-means and the $n$th quantization errors for all positive integers $n$ with respect to the mixed distribution. Finally, for a uniform distribution defined on an elliptical curve, we investigate the optimal sets of $n$-means and the $n$th quantization errors for all positive integers $n$.

Time-Dependent Photon Statistics in Variable Media

We find explicit solutions of the Heisenberg equations of motion for a quadratic Hamiltonian, describing a generic model of variable media, in the case of multi-parameter squeezed input photon configuration. The corresponding probability amplitudes and photon statistics are also derived in the Schroedinger picture in an abstract operator setting of the quantum electrodynamics (QED). Their time evolution is given in terms of solutions of certain Ermakov-type system. The unitary transformation and an extension of the squeeze/evolution operator are introduced formally.

Fundamental Laser Modes in Paraxial Optics: From Computer Algebra and Simulations to Experimental Observation

We study multi-parameter solutions of the inhomogeneous paraxial wave equation in a linear and quadratic approximation which include oscillating laser beams in a parabolic waveguide, spiral light beams, and other important families of propagation-invariant laser modes in weakly varying media. A "smart" lens design and a similar effect of superfocusing of particle beams in a thin monocrystal film are also discussed. In the supplementary electronic material, we provide a computer algebra verification of the results presented here, and of some related mathematical tools that were stated without proofs in the literature. We also demonstrate how computer algebra can be used to derive some of the presented formulas automatically, which is highly desirable as the corresponding hand calculations are very tedious. In numerical simulations, some of the new solutions reveal quite exotic properties which deserve further investigation including an experimental observation.

Liouvillian Propagators, Riccati Equation and Differential Galois Theory

In this paper a Galoisian approach to build propagators through Riccati equations is presented. The main result corresponds to the relationship between the Galois integrability of the linear Schrödinger equation and the virtual solvability of the differential Galois group of its associated characteristic equation. As main application of this approach we solve the Ince's differential equation through Hamiltonian Algebrization procedure and Kovacic Algorithm to find the propagator for a generalized harmonic oscillator that has applications describing the process of degenerate parametric amplification in quantum optics and the description of the light propagation in a nonlinear anisotropic waveguide. Toy models of propagators inspired by integrable Riccati equations and integrable characteristic equations are also presented.

The Riccati System and a Diffusion-Type Equation

We discuss a method of constructing solution of the initial value problem for duffusion-type equations in terms of solutions of certain Riccati and Ermakov-type systems. A nonautonomous Burgers-type equation is also considered.

Soliton-like Solutions for Nonlinear Schroedinger Equation with Variable Quadratic Hamiltonians

We construct one soliton solutions for the nonlinear Schroedinger equation with variable quadratic Hamiltonians in a unified form by taking advantage of a complete (super) integrability of generalized harmonic oscillators. The soliton wave evolution in external fields with variable quadratic potentials is totally determined by the linear problem, like motion of a classical particle with acceleration, and the (self-similar) soliton shape is due to a subtle balance between the linear Hamiltonian (dispersion and potential) and nonlinearity in the Schroedinger equation by the standards of soliton theory. Most linear (hypergeometric, Bessel) and a few nonlinear (Jacobian elliptic, second Painleve transcendental) classical special functions of mathematical physics are linked together through these solutions, thus providing a variety of nonlinear integrable cases. Examples include bright and dark solitons, and Jacobi elliptic and second Painleve transcendental solutions for several variable Hamiltonians that are important for current research in nonlinear optics and Bose-Einstein condensation. The Feshbach resonance matter wave soliton management is briefly discussed from this new perspective.

On Schroedinger Equation with Time-Dependent Quadratic Hamiltonian in $R^d$

We study solutions to the Cauchy problem for the linear and nonlinear Schroedinger equation with a quadratic Hamiltonian depending on time. For the linear case the evolution operator can be expressed as an integral operator with the explicit formula for the kernel. As a consequence, conditions for local and global in time Strichartz estimates can be established. For the nonlinear case we show local well-posedness. As a particular case we obtain well-posedness for the damped harmonic nonlinear Schroedinger equation.

Quantum Integrals of Motion for Variable Quadratic Hamiltonians

We construct the integrals of motion for several models of the quantum damped oscillators in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics in a framework of a general approach to the time-dependent Schroedinger equation with variable quadratic Hamiltonians. An extension of Lewis-Riesenfeld dynamical invariant is given. The time-evolution of the expectation values of the energy related positive operators is determined for the oscillators under consideration. A proof of uniqueness of the corresponding Cauchy initial value problem is discussed as an application.

Models of Damped Oscillators in Quantum Mechanics

We consider several models of the damped oscillators in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics in a framework of a general approach to the dynamics of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation with variable quadratic Hamiltonians. The Green functions are explicitly found in terms of elementary functions and the corresponding gauge transformations are discussed. The factorization technique is applied to the case of a shifted harmonic oscillator. The time-evolution of the expectation values of the energy related operators is determined for two models of the quantum damped oscillators under consideration. The classical equations of motion for the damped oscillations are derived for the corresponding expectation values of the position operator.

The Riccati Differential Equation and a Diffusion-Type Equation

We construct an explicit solution of the Cauchy initial value problem for certain diffusion-type equations with variable coefficients on the entire real line. The corresponding Green function (heat kernel) is given in terms of elementary functions and certain integrals involving a characteristic function, which should be found as an analytic or numerical solution of the second order linear differential equation with time-dependent coefficients. Some special and limiting cases are outlined. Solution of the corresponding non-homogeneous equation is also found.

Propagator of a Charged Particle with a Spin in Uniform Magnetic and Perpendicular Electric Fields

We construct an explicit solution of the Cauchy initial value problem for the time-dependent Schroedinger equation for a charged particle with a spin moving in a uniform magnetic field and a perpendicular electric field varying with time. The corresponding Green function (propagator) is given in terms of elementary functions and certain integrals of the fields with a characteristic function, which should be found as an analytic or numerical solution of the equation of motion for the classical oscillator with a time-dependent frequency. We discuss a particular solution of a related nonlinear Schroedinger equation and some special and limiting cases are outlined.
