Large deviations of multichordal SLE$_{0+}$, real rational functions, and zeta-regularized determinants of Laplacians

We prove a strong large deviation principle (LDP) for multiple chordal SLE$_{0+}$ curves with respect to the Hausdorff metric. In the single-chord case, this result strengthens an earlier partial result by the second author. We also introduce a Loewner potential, which in the smooth case has a simple expression in terms of zeta-regularized determinants of Laplacians. This potential differs from the LDP rate function by an additive constant depending only on the boundary data, that satisfies PDEs arising as a semiclassical limit of the Belavin-Polyakov-Zamolodchikov equations of level two in conformal field theory with central charge $c \to -\infty$. Furthermore, we show that every multichord minimizing the potential in the upper half-plane for given boundary data is the real locus of a rational function and is unique, thus coinciding with the $κ\to 0+$ limit of the multiple SLE$_κ$. As a by-product, we provide an analytic proof of the Shapiro conjecture in real enumerative geometry, first proved by Eremenko and Gabrielov: if all critical points of a rational function are real, then the function is real up to post-composition by a Möbius transformation.

Crossing Probabilities of Multiple Ising Interfaces

We prove that in the scaling limit, the crossing probabilities of multiple interfaces in the critical planar Ising model with alternating boundary conditions are conformally invariant expressions given by the pure partition functions of multiple SLE(κ) with κ=3. In particular, this identifies the scaling limits with ratios of specific correlation functions of conformal field theory.

Towards a conformal field theory for Schramm-Loewner evolutions

We discuss the partition function point of view for chordal Schramm-Loewner evolutions and their relationship with correlation functions in conformal field theory. Both are closely related to crossing probabilities and interfaces in critical models in two-dimensional statistical mechanics. We gather and supplement previous results with different perspectives, point out remaining difficulties, and suggest directions for future studies.

On the Uniqueness of Global Multiple SLEs

This article focuses on the characterization of global multiple Schramm-Loewner evolutions (SLE). The chordal SLE describes the scaling limit of a single interface in various critical lattice models with Dobrushin boundary conditions, and similarly, global multiple SLEs describe scaling limits of collections of interfaces in critical lattice models with alternating boundary conditions. In this article, we give a minimal amount of characterizing properties for the global multiple SLEs: we prove that there exists a unique probability measure on collections of pairwise disjoint continuous simple curves with a certain conditional law property. As a consequence, we obtain the convergence of multiple interfaces in the critical Ising, FK-Ising, and percolation models.

Higher-spin quantum and classical Schur-Weyl duality for $\mathfrak{sl}_2$

It is well-known that the commutant algebra of the $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-action on the $n$-fold tensor product of its fundamental module is isomorphic to the Temperley-Lieb algebra TL$_n(ν)$ with fugacity parameter $ν= -q - q^{-1}$ (at least in the generic case, i.e., when $q$ is not a root of unity, or $n$ is small enough). Furthermore, the simple $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-modules appearing in the direct-sum decomposition of the $n$-fold tensor product module are in one-to-one correspondence with those of the Temperley-Lieb algebra. This double-commutant property is referred to as quantum Schur-Weyl duality. In this article, we investigate such a duality in great detail. We prove that the commutant of the $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-action on any generic type-one tensor product module is isomorphic to a diagram algebra that we call the valenced Temperley-Lieb algebra TL$_ς(ν)$. This corresponds to representations with higher spin, which results in the need of valences (or colors) in the Temperley-Lieb diagrams. We establish detailed direct-sum decompositions exhibiting this duality and find explicit bases amenable to concrete calculations, important in applications. We also include a double-commutant type property for homomorphisms between different $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-modules, realized by valenced diagrams. The diagram calculus is reminiscent to Kauffman's recoupling theory and the graphical methods developed among others by Penrose and Frenkel \& Khovanov. The results also contain the standard quantum Schur-Weyl duality as a special case, and when specialized to $q \rightarrow 1$, imply the classical Frobenius-Schur-Weyl duality for the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C})$ and a higher-spin version thereof.

Basis for solutions of the Benoit & Saint-Aubin PDEs with particular asymptotic properties

Applying the quantum group method developed in [KP20], we construct solutions to the Benoit & Saint-Aubin partial differential equations with boundary conditions given by specific recursive asymptotics properties. Our results generalize solutions constructed in [KP16, PW19], known as the pure partition functions of multiple Schramm-Loewner evolutions. The generalization is reminiscent of fusion in conformal field theory, and our solutions can be thought of as partition functions of systems of random curves, where many curves may emerge from the same point.

Boundary correlations in planar LERW and UST

We find explicit formulas for the probabilities of general boundary visit events for planar loop-erased random walks, as well as connectivity events for branches in the uniform spanning tree. We show that both probabilities, when suitably renormalized, converge in the scaling limit to conformally covariant functions which satisfy partial differential equations of second and third order, as predicted by conformal field theory. The scaling limit connectivity probabilities also provide formulas for the pure partition functions of multiple $\mathrm{SLE}_κ$ at $κ=2$.

Global and Local Multiple SLEs for $κ\leq 4$ and Connection Probabilities for Level Lines of GFF

This article pertains to the classification of multiple Schramm-Loewner evolutions (SLE). We construct the pure partition functions of multiple SLE$(κ)$ with $κ\in (0,4]$ and relate them to certain extremal multiple SLE measures, thus verifying a conjecture from [BBK05, KP16]. We prove that the two approaches to construct multiple SLEs - the global, configurational construction of [KL07, Law09a] and the local, growth process construction of [BBK05, Dub07, Gra07, KP16] - agree. The pure partition functions are closely related to crossing probabilities in critical statistical mechanics models. With explicit formulas in the special case of $κ= 4$, we show that these functions give the connection probabilities for the level lines of the Gaussian free field (GFF) with alternating boundary data. We also show that certain functions, known as conformal blocks, give rise to multiple SLE(4) that can be naturally coupled with the GFF with appropriate boundary data.

Standard modules, radicals, and the valenced Temperley-Lieb algebra

This article concerns a generalization of the Temperley-Lieb algebra, important in applications to conformal field theory. We call this algebra the valenced Temperley-Lieb algebra. We prove salient facts concerning this algebra and its representation theory, which are both of independent interest and used in our subsequent work, where we uniquely and explicitly characterize the monodromy invariant correlation functions of certain conformal field theories.

Generators, projectors, and the Jones-Wenzl algebra

We investigate a subalgebra of the Temperley-Lieb algebra called the Jones-Wenzl algebra, which is obtained by action of certain Jones-Wenzl projectors. This algebra arises naturally in applications to conformal field theory and statistical physics. It is also the commutant (centralizer) algebra of the Hopf algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ on its type-one modules - this fact is a generalization of the $q$-Schur-Weyl duality of Jimbo. In this article, we find two minimal generating sets for the Jones-Wenzl algebra. In special cases, we also find all of the independent relations satisfied by these generators.

Conformal blocks, $q$-combinatorics, and quantum group symmetry

In this article, we find a $q$-analogue for Fomin's formulas. The original Fomin's formulas relate determinants of random walk excursion kernels to loop-erased random walk partition functions, and our formulas analogously relate conformal block functions of conformal field theories to pure partition functions of multiple SLE random curves. We also provide a construction of the conformal block functions by a method based on a quantum group, the $q$-deformation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. The construction both highlights the representation theoretic origin of conformal block functions and explains the appearance of $q$-combinatorial formulas.

Conformally covariant boundary correlation functions with a quantum group

Particular boundary correlation functions of conformal field theory are needed to answer some questions related to random conformally invariant curves known as Schramm-Loewner evolutions (SLE). In this article, we introduce a correspondence and establish its fundamental properties, which are used in the companion articles [JJK16, KP16] for explicitly solving two such problems. The correspondence associates Coulomb gas type integrals to vectors in a tensor product representation of a quantum group, a q-deformation of the Lie algebra sl2. We show that desired properties of the functions are guaranteed by natural representation theoretical properties of the vectors.

Pure partition functions of multiple SLEs

Multiple Schramm-Loewner Evolutions (SLE) are conformally invariant random processes of several curves, whose construction by growth processes relies on partition functions: Möbius covariant solutions to a system of second order partial differential equations. In this article, we use a quantum group technique to construct a distinguished basis of solutions, which conjecturally correspond to the extremal points of the convex set of probability measures of multiple SLEs.
