Casimir EMF in configurations with shifted elements

The possibility in principle is shown for the existence of Casimir electromotive force (EMF) in a configuration with parallel nanosized metal plates which are shifted relative one another. The effect is theoretically demonstrated for a configuration with two plates (wings) of finite length, the particular case of which is classical Casimir configuration with parallel plates. It is found that when the plates are strictly parallel, EMF does not appear. However, when the plates are shifted relative one another, in each of them time-constant EMF is generated. It is also found that maximal EMF values depending on the plate shifts are larger than those depending on the values of angles between the wings. All the found effects exist in periodic configurations with shifted elements. There are optima of the configuration geometrical parameters at which the EMF generation can be maximal.

Casimir electromotive force in periodic configurations

The possibility in principle of the existence of Casimir electromotive force (EMF) is shown for nonparallel nanosized metal plates arranged in the form of a periodic structure. It is found that EMF does not appear in strictly periodic structures with parallel plates. However, when the strict periodicity is disturbed in nonparallel plates, EMF is generated, and its value is equal to the number of pairs of plates in a configuration. Moreover, there are some effective parameters of the configuration (angles between plates, plate lengths and length to length ratios), at which the EMF generation per unit of the length of the periodic structure is maximal.

Casimir EMF

In the present paper, it is shown that the existence of the Casimir electromotive force (EMF) is possible in nanosized configurations with nonclosed nonparallel metal plates. The nature of such EMF is associated with the drag current generation at the noncompensated Casimir action of virtual photons on the electrons in the nano-configurations. In the case of a classical configuration withstrictly parallel plates, EMF is not generated. However, EMF can be generated when even an insignificant angle between the plates appears. Angles between the plates and their effective lengths have been found, at which maximally possible EMF is generated in a configuration.

Casimir expulsion of shifted configurations

The shift of nanosized metal configurations relative to one another can lead to an increase in the range of optimal lengths of wings and angles of the opening of cavities, at which noncompensated Casimir forces in them are maximal. The possibility of the existence of the effect of Casimir expulsion is demonstrated with a trapezoid cavity with shifted wings which are opened at different angles. It is also shown that shift in parallel structures leads to the appearance of forces tending to bring the configuration back to the situation before the shift. In some conditions, in systems with shifted structures there are moments of torsion and complex oscillation processes.

Quantum flights

The principles of quantum motors based on Casimir platforms (thin-film nanostructures are at issue) are discussed in plain language. The generation of quantum propulsion is caused by the noncompensated integral action of virtual photon momenta upon a configuration unit cell in the platform. The cells in a Casimir platform should be situated in a certain order with optimal geometric parameters. The evaluation of the quantum propulsion shows that, for example, ten square meters of ideal Casimir platforms (it is a complex single-layer structure) could make Cheops pyramid move!

Quantum motor and future

In a popular language, the possibilities of the Casimir expulsion effect are presented, which can be the basis of quantum motors. Such motors can be in the form of a special multilayer thin film with periodic and complex nanosized structures. Quantum motors of the type of the Casimir platforms can be the base of transportation, energy and many other systems in the future.

Casimir expulsion of periodic configurations

There is the possibility in principle that the noncompensated Casimir force exists in open nanosized metal cavities arranged in the form of periodic structures. It is found that when trapezoid cavities are strictly periodic all the Casimir expulsion forces are completely compensated. However, when the distance of the gap is formed between the cavities, in the periodic configuration a noncompensated expulsion force proportional to the number of cavities appears. There are such effective parameters of the periodic configuration (the angles of the opening of cavities, their lengths and the relationships between them) which lead to the appearance of a maximum of expulsion forces per unit of structure length.

Casimir force of expulsion

The possibility in principle is shown that the noncompensated Casimir force can exist in nanosized open metal cavities. The force shows up as time-constant expulsion of open cavities toward their least opening. The optimal parameters of the angles of the opening, of "generating lines" of cavities and their lengths are found at which the expulsive force is maximal. The theory is created for trapezoid configurations, in particular for parallel mirrors which experience both the transverse Casimir pressure and longitudinal compression at zero general expulsive force.
