Optimal Bilinear control restricted to the three-dimensional chemo-repulsion model with potential production

In this paper we study the following three-dimensional parabolic-parabolic chemo-repulsion model with potential production, logistic reaction and bilinear control, defined in $Q=(0,T)\timesΩ$: \begin{equation*}\label{eq0} \left\{ \begin{array}{rcl} \partial_tu-Δu&=&\nabla\cdot(u\nabla v)+r\,u-μ\, u^p,\\ \partial_tv-Δv+v&=&u^p+f\,v\, 1_{Ω_c}, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $1< p<+\infty$, $r,μ\geq 0$, and $f=f(t,x)$ is the control function acting on a subdomain $(0,T)\times Ω_c $, with $Ω_c\subseteqΩ$. This system is endowed with initial and non-flux boundary conditions. We prove the existence of global weak solutions of this controlled problem when $f\in L^{5/2}(0,T;L^{5/2}(Ω_c))$, analyzing the role of the diffusion and the logistic terms to get energy estimates. In particular, the logistic competition term $μ\, u^p$ is necessary only for $p>5/3$. Secondly, if $f\in L^{5/2}(0,T;L^{5/2+}(Ω_c))$, any weak solution $(u,v)$ satisfying the regularity criterion $u\in L^{5p/2}(Q)\cap L^{10/3}(Q)$ is in fact more regular, arriving in particular to $u,\nabla v\in L^5(Q)$ for $p\le 2$ and $u,\nabla v\in L^{5(p-1)}(Q)$ for $p> 2$ which is the critical regularity to solve a related optimal bilinear control problem. In fact, this setting let us to prove the existence of global optimal solutions, and the differentiability of the control-to-state mapping via the Implicit Function Theorem in Banach spaces. Then, we can identify the gradient of the (reduced) cost with respect to the control solving the adjoint problem by duality. In particular, we derive first-order necessary optimality conditions for local optimal solutions.

On a bi-dimensional chemo-repulsion model with nonlinear production

In this paper, we study the following parabolic chemo-repulsion with nonlinear production model: $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{rcl} \partial_tu-Δu&=&\nabla\cdot(u\nabla v),\\ \partial_tv-Δv+v&=&u^p+fv\, 1_{Ω_c}. \end{array} \right. $$ This problem is related to a bilinear control problem, where the state $(u,v)$ is the cell density and the chemical concentration respectively, and the control $f$ acts in a bilinear form in the chemical equation. For $2D$ domains, we first consider the case of quadratic signal production ($p=2$), proving the existence and uniqueness of global strong state solution for each control, and the existence of global optimum solution. Afterwards, we deduce the optimality system for any local optimum via a Lagrange multiplier Theorem, proving regularity of the Lagrange multipliers. Finally, we consider the case of signal production $u^p$ with $1<p<2$.

An optimal control problem for the Navier-Stokes-$α$ system

In this paper we study a distributed optimal control problem for a three-dimensional Navier-Stokes-$α$ model. We prove the solvability of the optimal control problem, and derive first-order optimality conditions by using a Lagrange multipliers Theorem. Finally, considering a velocity tracking control problem for the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes-$α$ model, we analyze the relation of its optimality system to the corresponding one associated to the Navier-Stokes model by proving a convergence theorem, which establishes that, as the length scale $α$ goes to zero, the optimality system of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes-$α$ model converges to the optimality system associated with the velocity tracking control problem of the Navier-Stokes equations.

Optimal bilinear control problem related to a chemo-repulsion system in 2D domains

In this paper we study a bilinear optimal control problem associated to a chemo-repulsion model with linear production term. We analyze the existence, uniqueness and regularity of pointwise strong solutions in a bidimensional domain. We prove the existence of an optimal solution and, using a Lagrange multipliers theorem, we derive first-order optimality conditions.

A regularity criterion for a 3D chemo-repulsion system and its application to a bilinear optimal control problem

In this paper we study a bilinear optimal control problem associated to a 3D chemo-repulsion model with linear production. We prove the existence of weak solutions and we establish a regularity criterion to get global in time strong solutions. As a consequence, we deduce the existence of a global optimal solution with bilinear control and, using a Lagrange multipliers theorem, we derive first-order optimality conditions for local optimal solutions.

On the diameter and incidence energy of iterated total graphs

The total graph of $G$, $\mathcal T(G)$ is the graph whose set of vertices is the union of the sets of vertices and edges of $G$, where two vertices are adjacent if and only if they stand for either incident or adjacent elements in $G$. Let $\mathcal{T}^1(G)=\mathcal{T}(G)$, the total graph of $G$. For $k\geq2$, the $k\text{-}th$ iterated total graph of $G$, $\mathcal{T}^k(G)$, is defined recursively as $\mathcal{T}^k(G)=\mathcal{T}(\mathcal{T}^{k-1}(G)).$ If $G$ is a connected graph its diameter is the maximum distance between any pair of vertices in $G$. The incidence energy $IE(G)$ of $G$ is the sum of the singular values of the incidence matrix of $G$. In this paper for a given integer $k$ we establish a necessary and sufficient condition under which $diam(\mathcal{T}^{r+1}(G))>k-r,$ $r\geq0$. In addition, bounds for the incidence energy of the iterated graph $\mathcal{T}^{r+1}(G)$ are obtained, provided $G$ to be a regular graph. Finally, new families of non-isomorphic cospectral graphs are exhibited.

An Optimal Control Problem for the Steady Nonhomogeneous Asymmetric Fluids

We study an optimal boundary control problem for the two-dimensional stationary micropolar fluids system with variable density. We control the system by considering boundary controls, for the velocity vector and angular velocity of rotation of particles, on parts of the boundary of the flow domain. On the remaining part of the boundary, we consider mixed boundary conditions for the vector velocity (Dirichlet and Navier conditions) and Dirichlet boundary conditions for the angular velocity. We analyze the existence of a weak solution obtaining the fluid density as a scalar function of the stream function. We prove the existence of an optimal solution and, by using the Lagrange multipliers theorem, we state first-order optimality conditions. We also derive, through a penalty method, some optimality conditions satisfied by the optimal controls.
