Two-dimensional Lorentz-violating Casimir effect

In this study, we consider the four-dimensional Maxwell electrodynamics extended with CPT-even Myers-Pospelov Lorentz-violating dimension-six operators to investigate the associated two-dimensional properties in the context of quantum vacuum fluctuation effects, namely, the Casimir effect. Upon projecting out the 4D theory down to a 2D theory we obtain analogs of these operators leading to a modified dispersion relation in a Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) scalar model equivalent to the electromagnetic theory. By making use of the modified dispersion relation, we derive exact analytic expressions for the Casimir energy and force induced by imposing Dirichlet boundary conditions on the scalar field. In the regime where the LIV parameter becomes very small, we recover known results for the Casimir energy and force plus correction terms due to the LIV.

Weak Coupling Regime in Dilatonic f(R,T) Cosmology

We consider $f(R,T)$ modified theories of gravity in the context of string theory inspired dilaton gravity. We deal with a specific model that under certain conditions describes the late time Universe in accord with observational data in modern cosmology and addresses the $H_0$ tension. This is done by exploring the space of parameters made out of those coming from the modified gravity and dilatonic charge sectors. We employ numerical methods to obtain several important observable quantities.

Domain walls in Horndeski gravity

The Horndeski gravity yields domain wall solutions that connect asymmetric vacua for a certain region of parameters. In the thin wall limit there exist BPS domain walls that connect stable vacua. That is, the false vacua in this theory follows the same effect obtained in supergravity vacua, i.e., it does not decay according to Coleman-de Luccia theory and the BPS solutions interpolating different vacua, e.g., non-degenerate AdS vacua, are static infinite planar domain walls separating vacua associated with different spacetimes.

Thick branes in Horndeski gravity

We investigate thick brane solutions in the Horndeski gravity. In this setup, we found analytical solutions, applying the first-order formalism to two scalar fields where the first field comes from the non-minimal scalar-tensor coupling and the second is due to the matter contribution sector. With these analytical solutions, we evaluate the symmetric thick brane solutions in Horndeski gravity with four-dimensional geometry. In such a setup, we evaluate the gravity fluctuations to find ``almost massless modes'', for any values of the Horndeski parameters. These modes were used to compute the corrections to the Newtonian potential and evaluate the limit four-dimensional gravity.

Charged Lifshitz black holes from general covariance breaking

In this work we use a general covariance breaking method to obtain a class of topological charged black holes whose background geometry asymptotically approaches Lifshitz spacetimes. We discuss how this mechanism affects Einstein's equations and explore the thermodynamics and critical behavior of the solution found.

Hawking radiation and stability of the canonical acoustic black holes

In this paper we determine the Hawking temperature and entropy of a modified canonical acoustic black hole. In our results we obtain an entropy-area relation that has a logarithmic correction term in leading order. We also analyze the stability condition of the noncommutative canonical acoustic black hole and also with quantum corrections implemented by the generalized Heisenberg uncertainty principle.

Modified metrics of acoustic black holes: A review

In this brief review, we will address acoustic black holes arising from quantum field theory in the Lorentz-violating and non-commutative background. Thus, we consider canonical acoustic black holes with effective metrics for the purpose of investigating Hawking radiation and entropy. We show that due to the generalized uncertainty principle and the modified dispersion relation, the Hawking temperature is regularized, that is, free from the singularity when the horizon radius goes to zero. In addition, we also find logarithmic corrections in the leading order for entropy.

Quantum Gravity Constraints on Fine Structure Constant from GUP in Braneworlds

The Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) has been discussed in the thick braneworld scenario. By considering Rydberg atoms in this background, we show that the spacetime geometry affects Maxwell equations inducing an effective dielectric constant on the space. In its turn, the corrected Coulomb potential by the gravitational interaction yields a deviation on the $3$-dimensional Bohr radius. Then, we compute the corrections on the fine structure constant owing to the GUP in higher-dimensional spacetime. We also found constraints for the deformation parameter $β$ and $D$-dimensional Planck length $l_{D}$ by comparing the predicted deviations with the recent empirical data of the fine structure constant. We compute the intermediate length scale, which in principle may be larger than the Planck length scale. It is conjectured that below such scale Quantum Gravity effects should take place.

Squeezed coherent states for a free particle with time-varying mass

We obtain the squeezed coherent states (SCS) for a free particle with exponentially time-varying mass. We write these states in terms of the squeeze and displacement parameters on the time-independent Fock states. Thus, we find a condition on the displacement parameter such that the SCS can be considered semiclassical states. We show that it is possible to obtain the coherent states (CS) for a free particle with minimal uncertainty as long as the mass increases with the time. We analyze the transition probability of a system initially prepared in the time-independent Fock states to the free particle SCS.

Localized scalar structures around static black holes

In this work we address a way to capture scalar field solutions on static spacetimes by using BPS formalism and relaxing the general covariance condition. We focus on configurations where the background geometry describes topological black holes and present both analytical and numerical solutions, in addition to discussing the use of conserved charges associated to such field configurations. The obtained solutions are radially stable and the zero-mode arising from the stability equation can be written analytically.

Hawking radiation and entropy of a BTZ black hole with minimum length

In this paper we consider a BTZ black hole with minimum length which has been introduced through the probability density of the ground state of the hydrogen atom. We analyzed the effect of the minimum length by calculating the thermodynamic quantities such as temperature and entropy and verified the stability of the black hole by computing the specific heat capacity.

Black String solutions in Rainbow Gravity

In this paper we study black string solutions under the consideration of rainbow gravity. We have analytically obtained the solution for four-dimensional black strings in terms of the functions $f(E/E_p)$ and $g(E/E_p)$ that sets the energy scale where the rainbow gravity becomes relevant. We have also obtained the Hawking temperature for the black string, from which we could see that the rainbow functions play the role of increasing or decreasing the Hawking temperature for a given horizon radius depending on the choice of such rainbow functions. We have computed the entropy, specific heat and free energy for the black string. The entropy and specific heat exhibit a rainbow dependence, while the free energy is not modified by the rainbow functions. Finally we have studied the effects of the rainbow gravity in the orbits of massive and massless particles around a black string. We could verify that neither massive nor massless particles exhibit stable orbits around a black string in the scenario of rainbow gravity, for any configuration of rainbow functions.

Absorption, scattering and shadow by a noncommutative black hole with global monopole

In this paper, we investigate the process of massless scalar wave scattering due to a noncommutative black hole with a global monopole through the partial wave method. We computed the cross section of differential scattering and absorption at the low frequency limit. We also calculated, at the high frequency limit, the absorption and the shadow radius by the null geodesic method. We showed that noncommutativity causes a reduction in the differential scattering/absorption cross section and shadow radius, while the presence of the global monopole has the effect of increasing the value of such quantities. In the limit of the null mass parameter, we verify that the cross section of differential scattering, absorption and shadow ray approach to a non-zero value proportional to a minimum mass.

Braneworlds in Horndeski gravity

In this paper we address the issue of finding braneworld solutions in a five-dimensional Horndeski gravity and the mechanism of gravity localization into the brane via ``almost massless modes'' for suitable values of the Horndeski parameters. We compute the corrections to the Newtonian potential and discuss the limit where four-dimensional gravity is recovered.

Generalized para-Bose states

In this paper, we construct integrals of motion in a para-Bose formulation for a general time-dependent quadratic Hamiltonian, which, in its turn, commutes with the reflection operator. In this context, we obtain generalizations for the squeezed vacuum states (SVS) and coherent states (CS) in terms of the Wigner parameter. Furthermore, we show that there is a completeness relation for the generalized SVS owing to the Wigner parameter. In the study of the probability transition, we found that the displacement parameter acts as a transition parameter by allowing access to odd states, while the Wigner parameter controls the dispersion of the distribution. We show that the Wigner parameter is quantized by imposing that the vacuum state has even parity. We apply the general results to the case of the time-independent para-Bose oscillator and find that the mean values of the coordinate and momentum have an oscillatory behavior similarly to the simple harmonic oscillator, while the standard deviation presents corrections in terms of the squeeze, displacement, and Wigner parameters.

Brane inflation driven by an arctan potential: CMB constraints and Reheating

We investigate the early universe evolution in the context of brane inflation driven by a supergravity-inspired $\arctan$ potential. We performed a slow-roll and a semi-analytical reheating analyses and obtained constraints on the inflationary parameters in agreement with Planck 2018 data. We also employed a Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis to perform a parameter estimation of the cosmological parameters, obtaining results in good agreement with the currently available cosmic microwave background and baryon acoustic oscillation data. This work establishes the general theoretical predictions of the $\arctan$ model, with the results of the statistical analysis corroborating its observational viability.

Quasinormal modes and shadow of noncommutative black hole

In this paper we investigate quasinormal modes (QNM) for a scalar field around a noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole. We verify the effect of noncommutativity on quasinormal frequencies by applying two procedures widely used in the literature. The first is the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation up to sixth order. In the second case we use the continuous fraction method developed by Leaver. Besides, we also show that due to noncommutativity, the shadow radius is reduced when we increase the noncommutative parameter. In addition, we find that the shadow radius is nonzero even at the zero mass limit for finite noncommutative parameter.

LIV effects on the quantum stochastic motion in an acoustic FRW-geometry

It is well known in the literature that vacuum fluctuations can induce a random motion of particles which is sometimes called quantum Brownian motion or quantum stochastic motion. In this paper, we consider Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV) in an acoustic spatially flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) geometry. In particular, we are looking for the LIV effects in the stochastic motion of scalar and massive test particles. This motion is induced by a massless quantized scalar field on this geometry, which in turn is derived from an Abelian Higgs model with LIV. Deviations in the velocity dispersion of the particles proportional to the LIV parameter are found.
