Finite-temperature nonlinear dynamics in cavity QED: A Thermofield Dynamics Approach

Heath-bath effects in the dynamics of atom + cavity system are studied. The temperature effects are explored using thermofield dynamics formalism. It is found that the dynamics of the system is sensitive to small changes in the temperature and the thermal effects lead to increasing instabilities by causing transitions from regular to chaotic motion.

Phase transition in the 3-D massive Gross-Neveu model

We consider the 3-dimensional massive Gross-Neveu model at finite temperature as an effective theory for strong interactions. Using the Matsubara imaginary time formalism, we derive a closed form for the renormalized $T$-dependent four-point function. This gives a singularity, suggesting a phase transition. Considering the free energy we obtain the $T$-dependent mass, which goes to zero for some temperature. These results lead us to the conclusion that there is a second-order phase transition.

Non-linear Liouville and Shrödinger equations in phase space

Unitary representations of the Galilei group are studied in phase space, in order to describe classical and quantum systems. Conditions to write in general form the generator of time translation and Lagrangians in phase space are then established. In the classical case, Galilean invariance provides conditions for writing the Liouville operator and Lagrangian for non-linear systems. We analyze, as an example, a generalized kinetic equation where the collision term is local and non-linear. The quantum counter-part of such unitary representations are developed by using the Moyal (or star) product. Then a non-linear Schrödinger equation in phase space is derived and analyzed. In this case, an association with the Wigner formalism is established, which provides a physical interpretation for the formalism.

Thermal Effects on the Stability of Excited Atoms in Cavities

An atom, coupled linearly to an environment, is considered in a harmonic approximation in thermal equilibrium inside a cavity. The environment is modeled by an infinite set of harmonic oscillators. We employ the notion of dressed states to investigate the time evolution of the atom initially in the first excited level. In a very large cavity (free space) for a long elapsed time, the atom decays and the value of its occupation number is the physically expected one at a given temperature. For a small cavity the excited atom never completely decays and the stability rate depends on temperature.

Weak-field approximation of effective gravitational theory with local Galilean invariance

We examine the weak-field approximation of locally Galilean invariant gravitational theories with general covariance in a $(4+1)$-dimensional Galilean framework. The additional degrees of freedom allow us to obtain Poisson, diffusion, and Schrödinger equations for the fluctuation field. An advantage of this approach over the usual $(3+1)$-dimensional General Relativity is that it allows us to choose an ansatz for the fluctuation field that can accommodate the field equations of the Lagrangian approach to MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) known as AQUAdratic Lagrangian (AQUAL). We investigate a wave solution for the Schrödinger equations.

Spectra of heavy-light mesons at finite temperature

Spectra of heavy-light meson are studied using potential model and thermofield dynamics prescription. The mass spectra of different heavy-light mesons are calculated at different temperatures and compared with those at T=0. It is found that the binding mass of heavy-light meson decreases as temperature increases.

Partially Unbiased Entangled Bases

In this contribution we group the operator basis for d^2 dimensional Hilbert space in a way that enables us to relate bases of entangled states with single particle mutually unbiased state bases (MUB), each in dimensionality d. We utilize these sets of operators to show that an arbitrary density matrix for this d^2 dimensional Hilbert space system is analyzed by via d^2+d+1 measurements, d^2-d of which involve those entangled states that we associate with MUB of the d-dimensional single particle constituents. The number $d^2+d+1$ lies in the middle of the number of measurements needed for bipartite state reconstruction with two-particle MUB (d^2+1) and those needed by single-particle MUB [(d^2+1)^2].

Dimensional renormalizability in compactified spaces

We first briefly review some aspects of the techniques of dealing with ultraviolet divergences in Feynman amplitudes in an Euclidian $D$-dimensional space-time. Next we consider compactification of a $d$-dimensional ($d\leq D$) subspace. This includes effects of temperature and of compactification of $d-1$ spatial coordinates. Then we show how dimensional renormalization can be implemented for a field theory defined on this Euclidian space-time with a compactified subspace.

Galilean Covariance and the Gravitational Field

The paper is concerned with the development of a gravitational field theory having locally a covariant version of the Galilei group. We show that this Galilean gravity can be used to study the advance of perihelion of a planet, following in parallel with the result of the (relativistic) theory of general relativity in the post-Newtonian approximation.

Encryption via Entangled states belonging to Mutually Unbiased Bases

We consider particular entanglement of two particles whose state vectors are in bases that are mutually unbiased (MUB), i.e. "that exhibit maximum degree of incompatibility" (J.Schwinger,Nat. Ac. Sci. (USA), 1960)). We use this link between entanglement and MUB to outline a protocol for secure key distribution among the parties that share these entangled states. The analysis leads to an association of entangled states and states in an MUB set: both carry the same labels.

von Neumann Lattices in Finite Dimensions Hilbert Spaces

The prime number decomposition of a finite dimensional Hilbert space reflects itself in the representations that the space accommodates. The representations appear in conjugate pairs for factorization to two relative prime factors which can be viewed as two distinct degrees freedom. These, Schwinger's quantum degrees of freedom, are uniquely related to a von Neumann lattices in the phase space that characterizes the Hilbert space and specifies the simultaneous definitions of both (modular) positions and (modular) momenta. The area in phase space for each quantum state in each of these quantum degrees of freedom, is shown to be exactly $h$, Planck's constant.

CPT theorem in a (5+1) Galilean space-time

We extend the 5-dimensional Galilean space-time to a (5+1) Galilean space-time in order to define a parity transformation in a covariant manner. This allows us to discuss the discrete symmetries in the Galilean space-time, which is embedded in the (5+1) Minkowski space-time. We discuss the Dirac-type field, for which we give the 8\times 8 gamma matrices explicitly. We demonstrate that the CPT theorem holds in the (5+1) Galilean space-time.

An 8-dimensional realization of the Clifford algebra in the 5-dimensional Galilean space-time

We give an 8-dimensional realization of the Clifford algebra in the 5-dimensional Galilean space-time by using a dimensional reduction from the $(5+1)$ Minkowski space-time to the $(4+1)$ Minkowski space-time which encompasses the Galilean space-time. A set of solutions of the Dirac-type equation in the 5-dimensional Galilean space-time is obtained, based on the Pauli representation of $8\times 8$ gamma matrices. In order to find an explicit solution, we diagonalize the Klein-Gordon divisor by using the Galilean boost.

Maximum Entanglement in Squeezed Boson and Fermion States

A class of squeezed boson and fermion states is studied with particular emphasis on the nature of entanglement. We first investigate the case of bosons, considering two-mode squeezed states. Then we construct the fermion version to show that such states are maximum entangled, for both bosons and fermions. To achieve these results, we demonstrate some relations involving squeezed boson states. The generalization to the case of fermions is made by using Grassmann variables.

Variational study of $_Λ^5$He hypernucleus is presented using a realistic Hamiltonian and a fully correlated wave function including $ΛN$ space-exchange correlation. Behaviour of the $Λ$-separation energy ($B_Λ$) with two- and three- baryon potential strengths is thoroughly investigated. Solutions of the potential strengths giving experimental $B_Λ$ are presented.

General Form of Magnetization Damping: Magnetization dynamics of a spin system evolving nonadiabatically and out of equilibrium

Using an effective Hamiltonian including the Zeeman and internal interactions, we describe the quantum theory of magnetization dynamics when the spin system evolves non-adiabatically and out of equilibrium. The Lewis-Riesenfeld dynamical invariant method is employed along with the Liouville-von Neumann equation for the density matrix. We derive a dynamical equation for magnetization defined with respect to the density operator with a general form of magnetization damping that involves the non-equilibrium contribution in addition to the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. Two special cases of the radiation-spin interaction and the spin-spin exchange interaction are considered. For the radiation-spin interaction, the damping term is shown to be of the Gilbert type, while in the spin-spin exchange interaction case the results depend on a coupled chain of correlation functions.
