Weak Coupling Regime in Dilatonic f(R,T) Cosmology

We consider $f(R,T)$ modified theories of gravity in the context of string theory inspired dilaton gravity. We deal with a specific model that under certain conditions describes the late time Universe in accord with observational data in modern cosmology and addresses the $H_0$ tension. This is done by exploring the space of parameters made out of those coming from the modified gravity and dilatonic charge sectors. We employ numerical methods to obtain several important observable quantities.

Two Dimensional Horava-Lifshitz Black Hole Solutions

In this paper we address the issue of black hole solutions in (1+1)-dimensional non-projectable Horava-Lifshitz gravity. We consider several models by considering different potentials in the scalar matter sector. We also consider the gravitational collapse of a distribution of pressureless dust filling a region in one-dimensional space. The time of the collapse can be faster or slower depending on the parameter $λ$ of the theory.

Brane structure from a scalar field in general covariant Horava-Lifshitz gravity

In this paper we have considered the structure of the non-projectable Horava-Melby-Thompson (HMT) gravity to find braneworld scenarios. A relativistic scalar field is considered in the matter sector and we have shown how to reduce the equations of motion to first-order differential equations. In particular, we have studied thick brane solutions of both the dilatonic and Randall-Sundrum types.

Induced higher-derivative massive gravity on a 2-brane in 4D Minkowski space

In this paper we revisit the problem of localizing gravity in a 2-brane embedded in a 4D Minkowski space to address induction of high derivative massive gravity. We explore the structure of propagators to find well-behaved higher-derivative massive gravity induced on the brane. Exploring a special case in the generalized mass term of the graviton propagator we find a model of consistent higher order gravity with an additional unitary massive spin-2 particle and two massless particles: one spin-0 particle and one spin-1 particle. The condition for the absence of tachyons is satisfied for both `right' and `wrong' signs of the Einstein-Hilbert term on the 2-brane. We also find the Pauli-Fierz mass term added to the new massive gravity in three dimensions and recover the low dimensional DGP model.

Cosmological scenarios in modified gravity with non-dynamical fields

In this paper we address the issue of exploring some cosmological scenarios in modified Einstein gravity through non-dynamical (auxiliary) fields. We found that all scenarios are controlled by a specific parameter associated with an auxiliary field. We explore the emergence of inflationary, radiation, matter and dark energy dominated regimes. Furthermore, an interesting possibility such as the emergence of a self-tuning mechanism to the cosmological constant problem in the radiation dominated era is also discussed.

Braneworld solutions from scalar field in bimetric theory

We investigate the presence of braneworld solutions in a bimetric theory, with gravity and the scalar field coupling differently. We consider a non-standard model, with a Cuscuton-like scalar field, and we show how to generate braneworld solutions in this new scenario. In particular, we found no gravitational instabilities for the braneworld solutions.

Self-tuning Horava-Lifshitz's Universe

In this paper we show that by considering a slightly modified Horava-Lifshitz gravity one can find self-tuning cosmological scenarios. Since in the proposed model the cosmological constant cancels out, then regardless of its value it cannot produce any gravitational effect. As a consequence this removes the gravitational effect of the vacuum energy on the expansion of the Universe. Accelerating scenarios, however, can be found through the presence of conventional and non-conventional fluids.

3D black holes on a 2-brane in 4D Minkowski space

We investigate three-dimensional black hole solutions in the realm of pure and new massive gravity in 2+1 dimensions induced on a 2-brane embedded in a flat four-dimensional spacetime. There is no cosmological constant neither on the brane nor on the four-dimensional bulk. Only gravitational fields are turned on and we indeed find vacuum solutions as black holes in 2+1 dimensions even in the absence of any cosmological solution. There is a crossover scale that controls how far the three- or four-dimensional gravity manifests on the 2-brane. Our solutions also indicate that local BTZ and SdS_3 solutions can flow to local four-dimensional Schwarzschild like black holes, as one probes from small to large distances, which is clearly a higher dimensional manifestation on the 2-brane. This is similar to the DGP scenario where the effects of extra dimensions for large probed distances along the brane manifest.

First-order framework and domain-wall/brane-cosmology correspondence

We address the possibility of finding domain wall solutions from cosmological solutions in brane cosmology. We find first-order equations for corresponding cosmology/domain wall solutions induced on 3-branes. The quadratic term of energy density in the induced Friedmann equation plays a non-standard role and we discuss the way the standard cosmological and domain wall models are recovered as the brane tension becomes large and show how they can be described by four-dimensional supergravity action in such a limit. Finally, we show that gravity on the 3-brane is locally localized as one moves away from the two-dimensional domain walls living on the brane.
