Small-time global exact controllability to the trajectories for the viscous Boussinesq system

In this paper, we deal with the global exact controllability to the trajectories of the Boussinesq system. We consider 2D and 3D smooth bounded domains. The velocity field of the fluid must satisfy a Navier slip-with-friction boundary condition and a Robin boundary condition is imposed to the temperature. We assume that one can act on the velocity and the temperature on an arbitrary small part of the boundary. The proof relies on three main arguments. First, we transform the problem into a distributed controllability problem by using a domain extension procedure. Then, we prove a global approximate controllability result by following the strategy of Coron et al [J. Eur. Math. Soc., 22 (2020), pp. 1625-1673], which deals with the Navier-Stokes equations. This part relies on the controllability of the inviscid Boussinesq system and asymptotic boundary layer expansions. Finally, we conclude with a local controllability result that we establish with the help of a linearization argument and appropriate Carleman estimates.

On the controllability of some equations of Sobolev-Galpern type

In this paper we deal with the controllability problem for some Sobolev type equations. We show that the equations cannot be driven to zero if the control region is strictly supported within the domain. Nevertheless, we also prove that it is possible to control the equations using controls which have a moving support, under some assumptions on its movement.

Controllability of evolution equations with memory

This article is devoted to studying the null controllability of evolution equations with memory terms. The problem is challenging not only because the state equation contains memory terms but also because the classical controllability requirement at the final time has to be reinforced, involving the contribution of the memory term, to ensure that the solution reaches the equilibrium. Using duality arguments, the problem is reduced to the obtention of suitable observability estimates for the adjoint system. We first consider finite-dimensional dynamical systems involving memory terms and derive rank conditions for controllability. Then the null controllability property is established for some parabolic equations with memory terms, by means of Carleman estimates.

A hyperbolic system and the cost of null controllability for the Stokes system

This paper is devoted to study the cost of the null controllability for the Stokes system. Using the control transmutation method we show that the cost of driving the Stokes system to rest at time T is of order e^C/T when T -->0^+,i.e., the same order as for the heat equation. For this to be possible, we are led to study the exact controllability of one hyperbolic system with a resistance term, which will be done under assumptions on the control region.

A uniform controllability result for the Keller-Segel system

In this paper we study the controllability of the Keller-Segel system approximating its parabolic-elliptic version. We show that this parabolic system is locally uniform controllable around a constant solution of the parabolic-elliptic system when the control is acting on the component of the chemical.
