Tomography on f-oscillators

Symplectic tomographies of classical and quantum states are shortly reviewed. The concept of nonlinear f-oscillators and their properties are recalled. The tomographic probability representations of oscillator coherent states and the problem of entanglement are then discussed. The entanglement of even and odd f-coherent states is evaluated by the linear entropy.

f-oscillators deformation for Moyal algebras

Using general construction of star-product the q-deformed Wigner-Weyl-Moyal quantization procedure is elaborated. The q-deformed Groenewold kernel determining the product of quantum observables is given in explicit form for small nonlinearities corresponding to nonlinear vibrations of classical and quantum q-oscillators. The deformations of Groenewold kernel related to general kinds of nonlinear vibrations described by f-oscillators are considered.

The geometry of density states, positive maps and tomograms

The positive and not completely positive maps of density matrices, which are contractive maps, are discussed as elements of a semigroup. A new kind of positive map (the purification map), which is nonlinear map, is introduced. The density matrices are considered as vectors, linear maps among matrices are represented by superoperators given in the form of higher dimensional matrices. Probability representation of spin states (spin tomography) is reviewed and U(N)-tomogram of spin states is presented. Properties of the tomograms as probability distribution functions are studied. Notion of tomographic purity of spin states is introduced. Entanglement and separability of density matrices are expressed in terms of properties of the tomographic joint probability distributions of random spin projections which depend also on unitary group parameters. A new positivity criterion for hermitian matrices is formulated. An entanglement criterion is given in terms of a function depending on unitary group parameters and semigroup of positive map parameters. The function is constructed as sum of moduli of U(N)-tomographic symbols of the hermitian matrix obtained after action on the density matrix of composite system by a positive but not completely positive map of the subsystem density matrix. Some two-qubit and two-qutritt states are considered as examples of entangled states. The connection with the star-product quantisation is discussed. The structure of the set of density matrices and their relation to unitary group and Lie algebra of the unitary group are studied. Nonlinear quantum evolution of state vector obtained by means of applying purification rule of density matrices evolving via dynamical maps is considered. Some connection of positive maps and entanglement with random matrices is discussed and used.

Does The Uncertainty Relation Determine The Quantum State?

The example of nonpositive trace-class Hermitian operator for which Robertson-Schroedinger uncertainty relation is fulfilled is presented. The partial scaling criterion of separability of multimode continuous variable system is discussed in the context of using nonpositive maps of density matrices.

Differential geometry of density states

We consider a geometrization, i.e., we identify geometrical structures, for the space of density states of a quantum system. We also provide few comments on a possible application of this geometrization for composite systems.

Partial positive scaling transform: a separability criterion

The problem of constructing a necessary and sufficient condition for establishing the separability of continuous variable systems is revisited. Simon [R. Simon, Phys. Rev. Lett. 84, 2726 (2000)] pointed out that such a criterion may be constructed by drawing a parallel between the Peres' partial transpose criterion for finite dimensional systems and partial time reversal transformation for continuous variable systems. We generalize the partial time reversal transformation to a partial scaling transformation and re-examine the problem using a tomographic description of the continuous variable quantum system. The limits of applicability of the entanglement criteria obtained from partial scaling and partial time reversal are explored.

Entanglement structure of adjoint representation of unitary group and tomography of quantum states

The density matrix of composite spin system is discussed in relation to the adjoint representation of unitary group U(n). The entanglement structure is introduced as an additional ingredient to the description of the linear space carrying the adjoint representation. Positive maps of density operator are related to random matrices. The tomographic probability description of quantum states is used to formulate the problem of separability and entanglement as the condition for joint probability distribution of several random variables represented as the convex sum of products of probabilities of random variables describing the subsystems. The property is discussed as a possible criterion for separability or entanglement. The convenient criterion of positivity of finite and infinite matrix is obtained. The U(n)-tomogram of a multiparticle spin state is introduced. The entanglement measure is considered in terms of this tomogram.

Trapped ions in laser fields: A benchmark for deformed quantum oscillators

Some properties of the non--linear coherent states (NCS), recognized by Vogel and de Matos Filho as dark states of a trapped ion, are extended to NCS on a circle, for which the Wigner functions are presented. These states are obtained by applying a suitable displacement operator $D_{h}(α) $ to the vacuum state. The unity resolutions in terms of the projectors $| α, h> < α, h^{-1}| ,| α, h^{-1}> < α, h| $ are presented together with a measure allowing a resolution in terms of $| α, h> < α, h| $. $D_{h}(α) $ is also used for introducing the probability distribution funtion $ρ_{A,h}(z) $ while the existence of a measure is exploited for extending the P-representation to these states. The weight of the n-th Fock state of the NCS relative to a trapped ion with Lamb-Dicke parameter $η,$ oscillates so wildly as $n$ grows up to infinity that the normalized NCS fill the open circle $η^{-1}$ in the complex $α$-plane. In addition this prevents the existence of a measure including normalizable states only. This difficulty is overcome by introducing a family of deformations which are rational functions of n, each of them admitting a measure. By increasing the degree of these rational approximations the deformation of a trapped ion can be approximated with any degree of accuracy and the formalism of the P-representation can be applied.

Purification of impure density operators and the recovery of entanglements

The need to retain the relative phases in quantum mechanics implies an addition law parametrized by a phase of two density operators required for the purification of a density matrix. This is shown with quantum tomography and the Wigner function. Entanglement is determined in terms of phase dependent multiplication.

Deformations and Nonlinear Systems

The q-deformation of harmonic oscillators is shown to lead to q-nonlinear vibrations. The examples of q-nonlinearized wave equation and Schrödinger equation are considered. The procedure is generalized to broader class of nonlinearities related to other types of deformations. The nonlinear noncanonical transforms used in the deformation procedure are shown to preserve in some cases the linear dynamical equations, for instance, for the harmonic oscillators. The nonlinear coherent states and some physical aspects of the deformations are reviewed.

f-Oscillators and Nonlinear Coherent States

The notion of f-oscillators generalizing q-oscillators is introduced. For classical and quantum cases, an interpretation of the f-oscillator is provided as corresponding to a special nonlinearity of vibration for which the frequency of oscillation depends on the energy. The f-coherent states (nonlinear coherent states) generalizing q-coherent states are constructed. Applied to quantum optics, photon distribution function, photon number means, and dispersions are calculated for the f-coherent states as well as the Wigner function and Q-function. As an example, it is shown how this nonlinearity may affect the Planck distribution formula.

A generalization of the Jordan-Schwinger map: classical version and its q--deformation

For all three--dimensional Lie algebras the construction of generators in terms of functions on 4-dimensional real phase space is given with a realization of the Lie product in terms of Poisson brackets. This is the classical Jordan--Schwinger map which is also given for the deformed algebras ${\cal {SL}}_{q}(2,\R)$, ${\cal E}_{q} (2)$ and ${\cal H}_q(1)$. The ${\cal U}_{q}(n)$ algebra is discussed in the same context.

Correlation functions of quantum q-oscillators

Nonlinearity of electromagnetic field vibrations described by q-oscillators is shown to produce essential dependence of second correlation functions on intensity and deformation of Planck distribution. Experimental tests of such nonlinearity are suggested.
