Axiomatic Foundations of Physical Theories

In this paper we give a contribution to the taxonomy of physical theories. We provide here a thorough description of the axiomatic foundations of the most relevant physical theories, Mechanics, Special Relativity, General Relativity, Quantum Mechanics. The corresponding interactions will be dealt with as well, i.e. Gravity in the Minkowskian limit, Electricity without quantized energy, Gravity without quantized energy, Electricity with quantized energy. We pose the problem if the extension of the principle of solidarity to all interactions can impose to consider all variables as dynamic.

A review of experiments reporting non-conventional phenomena in nuclear matter aiming at identifying common features in view of possible interpretation

The purpose of the present paper is to clarify, as far as it is possible, the overall picture of experimental results in the field of non-conventional phenomena in nuclear matter published in scientific literature, accumulated in the last decades and still missing a widely accepted interpretation. While completeness of the collection of the experiments is not among the aims of the effort, focus is put on adopting a more comprehensive and integral approach through the analysis of the different experimental layouts and the different results, searching for common features and analogous factual outcomes in order to obtain a consistent reading of a lot of experimental evidences that appear, until now, lacking a classification in a logic catalogue which might be compared to a sort of building and not to a collection of single stones. Particular attention is put on the issue of reproducibility of experiments and on the reasons why such a limitation is a frequent characteristic of many experimental activities reported in published papers. This approach is innovative as compared with those already available in the scientific literature. In a synoptical table a comprehensive classification is given of the twenty experiments examined in terms of type of evidences that are ascertained by the experimenters in their published papers but are unexpected according to well established physical theories. Examples of such unexpected evidences (named also non-conventional or weird) are: excess heat generation, isotope production, reduction of radioactivity levels, and production of neutrons or alpha particles.

A New Insight on Physical Phenomenology: a Review

After a brief digression on the current landscape of theoretical physics and on some open questions pertaining to coherence with experimental results, still to be settled, it is shown that the properties of the Deformed Minkowski space lead to a plurality of potential physical phenomena that should occur, provided that the resulting formalisms can be considered as useful models for the descrip-tion of some aspects of physical reality. A list is given of available experimental evidences not easy to be interpreted, at present, by means of the more established models, such as the standard model with its variants aimed at overcoming its descriptive limits; these evidences could be candidates to verify the predictions stemming from the properties of the Deformed Minkowski space. The list includes: anomalies in the double-slit-like experiments; nuclear metamorphosis; torsional anten-nas, as well as the physical effect of the "geometric vacuum" (as defined in analogy with quantum vacuum), in the absence of external electromagnetic field, when crossing critical thresholds of energy parameter values, energy density in space and energy density in time.

Neutron Imaging by Boric Acid

In this paper a new type of passive neutron detector based on the already existing one, CR39, is described. Its operation was verified by three different neutron sources: an Americium-Beryllium (Am241-Be) source; a TRIGA type nuclear reactor; and a fast neutron reactor called TAPIRO. The obtained results, reported here, positively confirm its operation and the accountability of the new developed detecting technique.

Piezonuclear Reactions

In this paper, we deal with the subject of piezonuclear reactions, namely nuclear reactions (of new type) triggered by pressure waves. We discuss the experimental evidences obtained in the last two decades, which can be summarized essentially as follows: experiments in cavitation of liquids, where transmutation of elements, creation of elements and emission of neutrons have been observed; emission of neutrons in brittle failure of solids subjected to mechanical pressure; alteration of the lifetime of un unstable element (thorium) subjected to cavitation. A theoretical model to explain these facts is proposed. Future perspectives of these experimental and theoretical investigations are also underlined.

Quantum Cavitation

We consider the theoretical setting of a superfluid like 3He in a rotating container, which is set between the two layers of a type-II superconductor. We describe the superfluid vortices as a 2-dimensional Ising-like model on a triangular lattice in presence of local magnetic fields. The interaction term of the superfluid vortices with the Abrikosov vortices of the superconductor appears then as a symmetry breaking term in the free energy. Such a term gives a higher probability of quantum tunnelling across the potential barrier for bubbles nucleation, thus favouring quantum cavitation.

Piezonuclear Neutrons

We report the results of neutron measurements carried out during the application of ultrasounds to a solution containing only stable elements like Iron and Chlorine, without any other radioactive source of any kind. These measurements, carried out by CR39 detectors and a Boron TriFouride electronic detector, evidenced the emission of neutron pulses. These pulses stand well above the electronic noise and the background of the laboratory where the measurements were carried out.

A new pseudo-Kaluza-Klein scheme for geometrical description of interactions

We illustrate the main features of a new Kaluza-Klein-like scheme (Deformed Relativity in five dimensions). It is based on a five-dimensional Riemannian space in which the four-dimensional space-time metric is deformed (i.e. it depends on the energy) and energy plays the role of the fifth dimension. We review the solutions of the five-dimensional Einstein equations in vacuum and the geodetic equations in some cases of physical relevance. The Killing symmetries of the theory for the energy-dependent metrics corresponding to the four fundamental interactions (electromagnetic, weak, strong and gravitational) are discussed for the first time. Possible developments of the formalism are also briefly outlined.

The electron mass from Deformed Special Relativity

Deformed Special Relativity (DSR) is a generalization of Special Relativity based on a deformed Minkowski space, i.e. a four-dimensional space-time with metric coefficients depending on the energy. We show that, in the DSR framework, it is possible to derive the value of the electron mass from the space-time geometry via the experimental knowledge of the parameter of local Lorentz invariance breakdown, and of the Minkowskian threshold energy $E_{0,em}$ for the electromagnetic interaction.

A geometrical meaning to the electron mass from breakdown of Lorentz invariance

We discuss the problem of the electron mass in the framework of Deformed Special Relativity (DSR), a generalization of Special Relativity based on a deformed Minkowski space (i.e. a four-dimensional space-time with metric coefficients depending on the energy). We show that, by such a formalism, it is possible to derive the value of the electron mass from the space-time geometry via the experimental knowledge of the parameter of local Lorentz invariance breakdown, and of the Minkowskian threshold energy $E_{0,em}$ for the electromagnetic interaction. We put forward the suggestion that mass generation can be related, in DSR, to the possible dependence of mass on the metric background (relativity of mass).

Killing symmetries of generalized Minkowski spaces. 3-Space-time translations in four dimensions

In this paper, we continue the study of the Killing symmetries of a N-dimensional generalized Minkowski space, i.e. a space endowed with a (in general non-diagonal) metric tensor, whose coefficients do depend on a set of non-metrical coodinates. We discuss here the translations in such spaces, by confining ourselves (without loss of generality) to the four-dimensional case. In particular, the results obtained are specialized to the case of a ''deformed'' Minkowski space $\widetilde{M_{4}}$ (i.e. a pseudoeuclidean space with metric coefficients depending on energy).

Killing symmetries of generalized Minkowski spaces. 2-Finite structure of space-time rotation groups

In this paper, we continue the study of the Killing symmetries of a N-dimensional generalized Minkowski space, i.e. a space endowed with a (in general non-diagonal) metric tensor, whose coefficients do depend on a set of non-metrical coordinates. We discuss here the finite structure of the space-time rotations in such spaces, by confining ourselves (without loss of generality) to the four-dimensional case. In particular, the results obtained are specialized to the case of a ''deformed'' Minkowski space $% \widetilde{M_{4}}$ (i.e. a pseudoeuclidean space with metric coefficients depending on energy), for which we derive the explicit general form of the finite rotations and boosts in different parametric bases.

Killing symmetries of generalized Minkowski spaces. 1-Algebraic-infinitesimal structure of space-time rotation groups

In this paper, we introduce the concept of N-dimensional generalized Minkowski space, i.e. a space endowed with a (in general non-diagonal) metric tensor, whose coefficients do depend on a set of non-metrical coodinates. This is the first of a series of papers devoted to the investigation of the Killing symmetries of generalized Minkowski spaces. In particular, we discuss here the infinitesimal-algebraic structure of the space-time rotations in such spaces. It is shown that the maximal Killing group of these spaces is the direct product of a generalized Lorentz group and a generalized translation group. We derive the explicit form of the generators of the generalized Lorentz group in the self-representation and their related, generalized Lorentz algebra. The results obtained are specialized to the case of a 4-dimensional, ''deformed'' Minkowski space $% \widetilde{M_{4}}$, i.e. a pseudoeuclidean space with metric coefficients depending on energy.

Boosts in an arbitrary direction and maximal causal velocities in a deformed Minkowski space

We discuss boosts in a deformed Minkowski space, i.e. a four-dimensional space-time with metric coefficients depending on non-metric coordinates (in particular on the energy). The general form of a boost in an arbitrary direction is derived in the case of space anisotropy. Two maximal 3-vector velocities are mathematically possible, an isotropic and an anisotropic one. However, only the anisotropic velocity has physical meaning, being invariant indeed under deformed boosts.
