Light hadron and diquark spectroscopy in quenched QCD with overlap quarks on a large lattice

A simulation of quenched QCD with the overlap Dirac operator has been completed using 100 Wilson gauge configurations at beta = 6 on an 18^3 x 64 lattice and at beta = 5.85 on a 14^3 x 48 lattice, both in Landau gauge. We present results for light meson and baryon masses, meson final state "wave functions," and other observables, as well as some details on the numerical techniques that were used. Our results indicate that scaling violations, if any, are small. We also present an analysis of diquark correlations using the quark propagators generated in our simulation.

Here we present results for meson masses, meson final state "wave functions," decay constants, and other observables, as well as details on our algorithmic and data analysis techniques. We also summarize results for baryon masses and quark and diquark propagators in the Landau gauge.

Electroweak penguins and SUSY K^0-\bar K^0 mixing with Neuberger quarks

We present results for Delta I=3/2 and Delta S=2 matrix elements relevant for CP violation in K->Pi Pi decays and for the K_S-K_L mass difference in the standard model and beyond. They were obtained with Neuberger fermions on quenched gauge configurations generated with the Wilson plaquette action at beta=6.0 on an 18^3x64 lattice.

Effective Lagrangian for strongly coupled domain wall fermions

We derive the effective Lagrangian for mesons in lattice gauge theory with domain-wall fermions in the strong-coupling and large-N_c limits. We use the formalism of supergroups to deal with the Pauli-Villars fields, needed to regulate the contributions of the heavy fermions. We calculate the spectrum of pseudo-Goldstone bosons and show that domain wall fermions are doubled and massive in this regime. Since we take the extent and lattice spacing of the fifth dimension to infinity and zero respectively, our conclusions apply also to overlap fermions.

Strongly Coupled Lattice Gauge Theories and Antiferromagnetic Spin Systems

In this thesis, I use the strong coupling expansion to investigate the multiflavor lattice Schwinger models in the hamiltonian formalism using staggered fermions. In particular, I am interested in analysing the mapping of these gauge theories onto quantum spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chains. Exploting this mapping, the chiral symmetry breaking patterns are studied and the spectra are computed. The extrapolation to zero lattice spacing of the results compare favorably qualitatively and quantitatively with the weak coupling studies of the gauge models in the continuum.
